Ive always had a pleasant experience at this office but today there was a different vibe. My hygienist was friendly and nice but Im always amazed how long a cleaning takes here (1 hour without x-rays) & my teeth are very well cared for. When the dentist came in, who has seen me at least twice before, she commented on my "metal" crowns & asked if I was in the military. Little did she know that the konikoff office in Suffolk Va did those crowns & did them in metal for a reason. When I told her they were metal because I grind my teeth & porcelain wouldnt be strong enough, she asked me in a snotty manner why I dont have a mouth guard if Im breaking fillings. Now, theyve been trying to sell me a $$ mouth guard for years but I dont buy it because insurance doesnt cover it & why spend that kind of $ on something when I know I wont keep it in at night. I explained this to my hygienist after the dentist left the room. At the end of my appt, I was sent to checkout where no one waited ahead of me & 2 people manned the windows. I waited and listened to the girls chat about another girls outfit and ignore me until I finally asked if they could just bill my ins (I dont pay for 6 month cleanings). My hygienist gave me a dirty look & said "oh I was waiting for them to give you a price on the mouth guard"!!! WHAT?! We just had this conversation along with the one about me having a baby at home I needed to get back to so my husband could go to work. Im pretty disappointed with todays visit & will probably seek out another office, after all, va beach is a big city!

I had an appointment with Dr. lanigan last Tuesday about a tooth that I know needed to be extracted. Her assistant looked at my tooth and did an X-ray. Dr. lanigan consulted with me for about 2 minutes at most and said because of my large roots in my teeth she was recommending an oral surgeon. Her assistant said she was going to prescribe a pain killer and an antibiotic. I told her I was in no pain and did not need a pain killer. I scheduled an appointment for the next Friday to have my oral surgery done at their location. I just realized today that they did not write a script for an antibiotic. I have to travel one and a half hours to the office plus pay the toll on the bay-bridge tunnel. If I had not realized they did not prescribe an antibiotic for me I think it would have been a wasted trip to go in for the oral surgery without being on an antibiotic. Also the charge for the visit and an x-Ray was $93. I think this is high considering that I am going back there for oral surgery. I was there once before for an extraction and Dr Lanigan did a great job. It was a difficult extraction but she made sure I was not in pain and was very attentive. I just feel that this time they were very busy and made the mistake of not prescribing the antibiotic.

I have never been a fan of the dentist and after several bad experiences I was not expecting anything different. I was so wrong! This office is AWESOME! I called a different office for an appointment and after being asked some questions they determined that I needed to be seen right away. They didnt have any openings to they connected me to this location. I spoke to Jen and she was awesome, they told me to be there at 12pm. On my way I didnt realize that there was construction and road closures which caused major delays so I called to inform them that I was not going to make it there until 1245 or so. Jen moved my appt. to 2pm which worked out great. I arrived early to fill out paperwork and everyone was so polite and friendly. I had Dr. Dobson look at my teeth and she did what she needed to do and I didnt feel any pain even the numbing process was quite painless. Dr. Dobson is the best dentist ive ever had. Im probably going to make this my main dentist even though I live in Chesapeake.

Konikoff has been great for the ten years Ive been a patient. This time, however, I felt like a number. It started with a perfunctory greeting, followed by a request for my drivers license with no explanation. The explanation was "we have a new system - we have to scan it in" which may be true, but is hardly an explanation. The dental tech was great, but then told me that all my records were lost in the "new system". Well, the one dental issue that we are tracking: a measurement for recession, requires a comparison of those records with the current measurement. So, my ongoing dental concern? Was not addressed because of the "new system." I got my teeth cleaned. And checked. But I wouldnt really call this appointment dental care. Konikoff cant tell if my condition is stable, or worsening. I would give them one star, but the technician was great: she had the usual Konikoff cheer and care. Even if the rest of the practice, including the "new system" did not.

Kornikoff Dentistry has always been my choice for me and my family. The hygentist is always pleasant at our visits. Just recently I booked an appoinment for me and my 4 children ranging from ages of 15 years to 3 and everyone was so pateint. My younges had her first visit that day and beside that fact she wanted every toy in the treasure chest they made my experience less stressful for all of us. I of course was the last to be seen so the ladies all watched for my kids while I was getting my cleaning. My kids love going to get their teeth cleaned and they love visiting the office since it is always so pretty (fishes) and plenty to do to keep them occupied. If I ever have an issue with billing they are willing to go the extra mile and make sure everything is always taken care of and my calls are always returned. Thank you Kornikoff for always making my experience with your office a pleasant experience. Also thank you for the gift card to YNot pizza!!

Ive been going here for years until my most recent visit. I was seen for an abscessed tooth and root canal, the doctor had me schedule an appointment to have work done a week later. Not only was the doctor EXTREMELY rude, but I was given a prescription for a very minor pain medicine (not even enough to last me until my next appointment), and I was told not to call back if the pain got worse because he was not going to give me anything else. Not even 2 days had passed and I couldnt take the pain anymore so I went and saw a different dentist who told me that I needed to schedule a consult with an Oral Surgeon immediately, and that I should have been referred to one when I was originally seen at Konikoff. I would only recommend this dentist if you enjoy being put through unnecessary pain, and / or you like being treated like a dog.

From the first appointment 12/21/14 until the last 02/12/15 the experience with Konikoff was unacceptable. Due to schedule conflicts with my preferred family dentistry Dr. Meader, I had to schedule my spouse for another office closer to his job. To give a short precise review: they only quote you for the copay not the actual procedure or what the insurance covers. They do not disclose extra cost for certain preventive care. Some of the people working there are not very helpful or nice. I would advise to find a family dentistry because they learn their patients and are upfront about cost. I prefer companies that do not try to get over on people. One good thing: the cleaning was good
