If you are somewhat holistic, this practice/doctor is not for you. My newborn had thrush to which I was treating naturally with probiotics. The doctor scowled at me when I told him what I was doing, and then proceeded to put his unwashed finger in my childs mouth. There is a sign on the cabinet stating something along the lines of "please ask us to wash our hands, we wont be offended", but how do you ask them AFTER they do something like that. Would I have known that he was going to do that, I definitely would have insisted. The doctor prescribed a mediation (nystatin) that made my infant violently vomit twice that evening (one of the side effects according to the drug information). I switched back to my natural remedy and the thrush is gone. After examining, the doctor then walked clearly away from the table, leaving my child unattended with the ability to roll off the table. I immediately stood up and went to my childs side (this is not my first child, so Ive been around the block before)... There was a nurse practitioner in training in the room who didnt say a word. She was clearly shy, and made the experience more uncomfortable than it already was. I will not be back to this practice. If youre a new parent, do research and dont settle. There are better options. Science/synthetic medications arent the only options.

We have been to a considerable number of pediatricians due to moving, and Dr. Amster is by far the best pediatrician we have come across. His bedside manner is wonderful! He takes his time with each child and is thorough. We have never had a significant wait time for our appointment in the year and a half we have been a part of his practice. Today we found that my two year old had shoved something up her nose. He opened his office on a Saturday afternoon just to care for her and was so gentle and patient. This man REALLY cares for his patients. I give him my highest endorsement both as a mommy of 2 littles and as a former pediatric speech language pathologist.

When I first started using Dr Mike (when my little one was first born) he was wonderful and made being new parents easy. But I was always leary of his medical knowledge. My son is now a year old and having health issues. Every time Ive brought things up to Dr Mike or the other dr there, they blow me off like I dont know what Im talking about and that theyre smarter because theyre drs. I followed my instincts and started seeing a new pedi. There is something wrong with my son, and weve finally been able to start treating it. No help from Warrenton Pediactrics.

Best pediatrician practice I have EVER been to. Ive been coming here for seven years. I have five children, and much experience with pediatricians. One daughter was born with significant health problems. Dr. Michael Amster has incredible bedside manners with the kiddos and with the parent! Whatever your child becomes ill with Dr. Amster can figure it out and have them feeling better in no time! We feel truly blessed to have found this practice with such wonderful doctors!!!!!
