I needed a root canal and a crown on one of my teeth. When I went in, they told me I also needed a few replacement fillings (in which I was never told at the last dental office I went to). They didnt do root canals, so they reffered me to an office that they worked with right next store, Cascadia. Cascadia gave them the quote of how much it would be, then they combined there amount and what insurance would cover and gave me the amount I would have to pay out of pocket, which is $800. I felt like that was a lot, but I went ahead and got it done because the dentist told me how important it was. Well, during the procedure, he talked about things that I dont think a dentist should be discussing with patients, like bashing the president for example. The work he did was very good though. Well, a few months later, I get a bill from them, stating that I owed them an additional $350. I called them, and they said that Cascadia was over payed the amount by my insurance and that I need to contact them about it. Well I did, and they said there was nothing they could, the price they were payed was correct. So I contacted Bellevue Dental excellence again, and they pretty much said that its not their fault and there is nothing they can do about it, so I have to pay the money. I feel at this moment, that this might of been a scam to get more money, or a way to trick the patiente into thinking its only going to be $800, when in reality they plan on charging more money in the future. I suggest you all go to another place for dental work, somewhere that will tell you exactly the right amount of money that will be owed out of pocket. They didnt feel bad that it ended up being almost $400 more, and didnt offer any solution other than me paying that amount, or it goes to collections and ruins my credit.

Dr. Sunwoo and his team is great as always. When I moved to Seattle area, finding a good dentist and hygienist was one of my biggest concerns because Im paying for my wild younger ages. Dr. Sunwoo has everything Im looking for my dentist. He offers Cerec one day crown with great experience. I got a few fillings re-done by him. His work is precise like you cant tell which one got fillings. I think hes kind of master grade dentist. So all my family members have been his patients since after moving to Seattle area. The real gem here is the hygienist, Laurie. Dr. Sunwoo is great as everyone here says so, so no surprise right? Laurie is real great hygienist I ever met. She is the best among all my 20+ past hygienists. I can really tell you that. My teeth cleaning interval is bit frequenter than usual due to my smoking habit. So I need my hygienist to use sonic tools to less damage my teeth on my frequent visit and at same time effectively remove stains. Laurie has the experience in that skill. Not only the skill but I really like she has the professional mind in her nature. She pays really great attention to my teeth and go full hour on it, finishes up with her hand tools. I know Im kind of patients that need extra efforts but she always have finished it at my satisfaction level. I have her cell number. If she moves, then Ill have to follow her. I think its a great dental team in perfect size for family dental care. So, long live Dr. Sunwoo and Laurie!!!

I loved the support team here, everyone was so kind and helpful. Traci the receptionist was warm and tried her best to accommodate me. Julia the dental hygienist was supportive and sweet, and an excellent choice for anyone with anxiety about visiting the dentist. I wanted this to be my new dental team, but Dr Sun Woo and I did not get along at all. He was condescending and pushy and not interested in customizing his care to my situation. He recommended an invasive procedure to treat an issue I was experiencing, and chastised me for neglecting my dental hygiene. I left the office in tears and feeling as though I had just gone back in time to a pediatric dentist. I got a second opinion from another practice my family has trusted for decades. He said my teeth were in excellent condition and the problem area needed only minimal treatment. Having received this advice from a previous dentist, I now wonder if Dr Sun Woo wanted to sell a procedure, or if he just didnt know what he was looking at. Regardless of what ultimately becomes of my teeth, Id much rather drive all the way to Kent to see my familys dentist than sacrifice my self-esteem and my wallet for a convenient office. Sorry ladies, I really wanted this to work :(

Ive been a patient here for the last 12 years. I look forward to my twice yearly cleaning appointments, and Im always satisfied if I have to get any additional work done. Dr. Sunwoo is an intelligent and kind man. His work is phenomenal, quick and painless. He did my wisdom teeth extraction with local anesthetic and it was nearly painless, without any complications! Over the years, hes done many other procedures for me, such as placing crowns and fillings. All of them have lasted longer than either of us could have anticipated. The rest staff is kind and welcoming! Laurie does my cleanings and my teeth look beautiful afterwards, no matter how many tea stains I come in with. Traci at reception is welcoming and easygoing, she makes it easy to find an appointment that works for my busy schedule. Highly recommend Bellevue dental excellence to everyone. Edit 6/29/16: Bellevue Dental Excellence does not disappoint. Top notch care every time! If you need a dentist--look no further, because you found the best!

Im unfortunately very experienced with dentists and dental treatment and I have to say that Dr. Sunwoo is the most dishonest / purposely manipulative dentist I have met to date of about 10 dentists that I have dealt with. The reason I say this is that he miss-diagnosed several teeth which I knew their exact status. Now this might mean that he is just incompetent, however, even a junior student would know to contradict his diagnosis on at least 1 tooth. Unsurprisingly the recommended treatment was to have crowns made - a costly ( ~1.5k ) procedure for which he has a dedicated machine which allows him to manufacture the crown himself ( Read: High-margin procedure for Dr Sunwoo ). Needless to say that 2 other dentists did not agree with his diagnosis. Given what Ive observed, Im not at all surprised that 90% of the positive reviews on his Google page are from 1-time reviewers ( click the name of the reviewer to see reviews left by their account ). Absolutely get a second opinion!

Ive been going to Dr Sunwoo for 6+ years. I would highly recommend Dr Sunwoo, he does great work. I like that he explains the procedure before and the details during. You can tell he’s concerned about his patient’s well being, always asking me during the procedure “Are you doing OK?” and waits for me to answer. My biggest pet peeve about going to doctor’s appointments is having to wait for 20-30 minutes for the doctor when you arrive on-time, In the 5+ years going to Dr Sunwoo at Bellevue Dental Excellence this has never happened. I get to the office and with seconds/minutes they are ready to start my appointment. The optional multi-method appointment reminders; text message, email, and phone call is a much needed service for me.
