You know that feeling of helplessness you get when a big business does you wrong and then treats you like youre worthless. You know, when they speak down to you and insist that they could do no wrong? I was a loyal customer, and I brought all three of my kids here for as long as I can remember. At least 10 years. Then, three days ago my wife called and requested some paperwork my daughter needed to play soccer. They said "no problem." Three days later (the last day we had to get our paperwork in,) it became a problem. Our daughter had been OKd physically by Dr. Shlafer. We called three days ahead and requested the paperwork and we were told it was no problem. At the last minute when we hadnt heard back we called to see if we could get the papers we needed and they told us we couldnt have them. The lady who answered the phone was rude. She told us we "must have gone somewhere else." She told us that she definitely was not checked out here. And then in a nasty and arrogant tone she said "YOUR WRONG." Im not one of those "the-customer-is-always-right-people." But this lady took a strong stance on the opposite side of the spectrum. For her, my wife was wrong, and being right was much more important than customer service. I told her that we are loyal people and have never taken any of our three children anywhere else. Again she insisted that we were crazy and re-iterated that even though it was the last minute, and even though we were told it was OK, she and Dr Shlafer would not help us get the paperwork we needed. At this point I got upset. AND, since I got upset, they fired us as clients. Recap: They said yes maam, no problem. They dropped the ball. They told my wife that she was "Wrong." They refused to fit us in to right their wrong. Their actions resulted in my daughter not being able to play soccer They couldnt figure out why I would be upset. Then, they said: "We did you wrong, but we dont need you. Go find another doctor."

He is great at some points but on others I feel very insecure after visiting his office. For an example: he usually spends not more than 2-3 minutes with his patients, in many times I dont think its enough and I usually have to catch him rushing out the door - he never concerns if I have any questions and I literally have to catch him running out in order to ask anything. Usually I dont succeed and have to ask nurses - very disrespectful. And the next example: he is prescribing my 2yo son antibiotics without any lab tests for the 5th time in a half a year!! The last time I asked him how he can be absolutely sure without testing that my son has a bacterial infection that must be treated with antibiotics he said "definitely YES", but my sons illness can be caused by either a bacteria or virus. I should also say that in the previous times he gave us antibiotics (without any tests of cause) it worked ones or may be twice. Other times we didnt notice any significant influence and I just think my son got better by himself (just lowered his immune system with no reason)

They have a nurse that can NOT follow HIPPA when it come to phone calls. She when calling me, she ask for the parents of and said my childs name I said Im him mother continued to with the conversation WITHOUT verify my name or DOB for my child until after setting up an appointment when then asked for my name and DOB. When I called her on it she was rude and said well she called the number in his chart. About an hour later she called back demanding I apologize to her... Are you kidding me?! When I said I disagree chat she should be apologizing to me for NOT practicing patients confidentiality. She said that if I refused to apologize my son could be a patient there. Well after this I am proud to say after 8years and Dr. Shlafer see my son since he was 3days old . WE WILL NO LONGER BE PATIENTS at this office. The doctor did even bother to call me and ask what happened. So if you like your right violated than this is the place to be.

We love Dr. Shlafer! My husband and I have three small children all under the age of four. Hes very kind and takes the time to explain what hes doing ave why hes doing it... Example- we thought one of our girls could possibly have an ear infection and before he looked at her ear he drew us a diagram of what the ear looks like inside and what hes looking for in a healthy ear vs. Infection. We thoroughly enjoyed that because not a lot of doctors would take the time to explain these things. My husband and I think that hes always been very approachable and kind-hearted when it came to the care of our children their needs were definitely put first. We go in for the annual visits and if they are sick and each time our concerns and our questions are always answered.

Find another doctor. Without even examining the child, Dr. Shlafer takes shortcuts and pushes treatments that conform to his simplified medical opinions. He has a lot of opinions and generally sits at odds with the larger medical community. He discounts parents input and even loudly mocked us to his staff because we had given our feverish infant Tylenol. Most importantly, Dr. Shlafer explicitly told us he ignores most developmental milestones. (He didnt even check the baby for any.) If your child starts falling behind or displays neurological evidence of a problem, he wont catch it because he doesnt check for it. You could easily miss the window for intervention because Dr. Shlafer decided not to engage in standard pediatric procedures.

Dr. Shlafer and the staff at the clinic have always been so helpful and sweet. I have been going to Dr. Shlafer as far as I can remember. My mother took my older sister, younger brother and I to his clinic. He knows all of us and always seems to be caring and joking around to make sure that we all feel welcomed and happy while being treated. Even when it was time to get shots him and the nurses were always trying to make us three kids smile. I have never gone to another doctor because I feel so at home and welcomed in that clinic. He is one of the best doctors out there. And theres always a sticker at the end of each visit that you the client get to pick yourself. I highly recommend Dr. Shlafer.

Dr. Shlafer saw my children 20 years ago and they are all still well adjusted, healthy people! I appreciated his help with our sons depression after an unexpected death in our family. He talked our scientific explorer child through the extraction of rolled up construction paper in daughters nose when she was in kindergarten. When our other daughter had recurrent kidney issues, he researched until he found a solution resulting in her recovery. Our family recalls his service fondly.
