My husband has been esperiencing debillitating back pain for a month. He finally conceded to go to the doctor. He saw Dr Holtzclaw. The doctor came in with a sour look on his face, talked to him for about 3 minutes, pulled his leg, pushed his leg, poked his back and said he needed to stretch because his muscles are tight. No further tests, no muscle relaxers, no compassion. when we told the doctor he is working 48 to 56 hours a week and could not afford to have him take time off both for the company and our family as he is the sole lathe person for work and sole provider for our family, the "doctor" told him he would write a note for work. Well, a doctors note does not pay the bills...It has been nearly a month and my husband is still in severe pain, even with the stretching. When we called the office to complain, no one bothered to call back. The doctor treated him in a condescending manner like he is a pill seeker. I am a medical assistant and know what good and compassionate care is like. This doctor provided neither and then charged for a level 4 visit to the tune of $411 to see my husband for 5 minutes. My husband is in so much pain it looks like the ER is next and we are suspecting that the tight muscles are a SYMPTOM of something more serious, but the doctor was even unwilling to refer for an x-ray. If given the choice, I would choose elsewhere.

We love the Port Orchard Medical Clinic we however do not like being treated like we are NEW patients and it is taking over 2 months to get an appointment to "re-establish" with another doctor. We liked Dr Mandrelle and his leaving causes his OLD patients to be treated like we are at their mercy to get in to see a doctor. It is not OUR fault Dr Mandrelle left so why are we his old patients being treated like we have never been there and I have seen this other doctor before? I dont like how they handled this with his old established patients. Why isnt there some consideration for Dr Mandrelles old patients? I had been seeing him for over 6 years or more. I did not have this problem when my RA doctor left and a new dr took over his patients. Why wasnt this handled the same way?? And PS there are only 3 doctors now at this clinic, used to be about 5. This clinic is busy and needs more doctors. And ones with a good bedside manner..Dr Holzclaw doesnt have one. My husband refuses to see him again.

If you like being told to wait two weeks to see your doctor, this is the place for you. No matter how imperative it is, no matter how sick you are, even if the hospitals, (also Franciscan owned now), tell you to follow up with your doctor in 3 days, they tell you, "We are full for two weeks." This clinic uses the emergency room and Prompt Care/ Urgent Care facilities as their backup for overbooking. I think that since the Franciscans took over, and have somewhat of a monopoly going, the ER is even better for them, as it costs us 5 times as much, and they own it, too. We must pay extra for the convenience of getting to see a doctor in a reasonable amount of time, I guess. Everyone in my family went to this clinic, but have now taken our records and gone elsewhere. Even my 91-year-old mother, when ill, or after a fall, was denied the "luxury" of seeing her own physician, (Dr Holtzclaw), because they were just too busy to get her in. There is no excuse for being treated this way.

I was repeatedly questioned every time I called to have monthly refill prescriptions written out, even though Ive been taking my medication for several years. My doctor was helpful in letting me adjust my medications, but very difficult to deal with when I wanted answers about alternatives. Her response every time was, "why do you think that will help", which was really irritating because I was asking for her professional opinion and knowledge. Very passive. The clinic in Burien was wonderful, which is why I chose this one when I moved. This one doesnt return phone calls hardly at all-even when promised-and only wrote my refill scripts without any accusatory talk when I tore into them over the phone. Theyve also been short-changing me on my monthly refills by 2 and 3 days, due to some "policy" I was never informed of until recently. Avoid this place like the plague.

Saw Margaret Sandler NAP and Paul Baker NAP at the Port Orchard Fransican clinic on three different occasions for severe debilitating spasms of my neck and back and over the course of 3 mo progressed to numbness in both my hands. Never received an approapriate muscle relaxer and was forced to get help at an emerency room the same day of a clinic visit for approapriate care. I am an ICU RN and I know when proper care is given and I also know a good care giver when I meet one. These two individuals are uncaring and condesceding. I would strongly recommend to go elsewhere to be seen if you cant get an appt witha anyone else there. They made me suffer for 3 mo!!! This will be reported to the director of Fransican Doctors, phyisian assistantsa and these two nurse practitioners.

When I was a new patient, they lost the freebase I had signed to get records from my prior doctor. The PA Carl was unpleasant and acted like she was sitting in judgement of my past as I am a former drug user. When I asked if she had taken any chemical dependant classes to learn about addiction... she readily admitted she had not.... YET she refused to help me with my severe chronic pain on a short term basis. My suggestion, if you want to b proactive in your care DO NOT GO TO HERE AS SHE IS NOT OPEN TO SUGGESTION NOR DOES SHE CARE TO HEAR HOW YOU FEEL. SHE BELIEVES SHE KNOWS IT ALL AND DOESNT CARE ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE GONE THRU NOR YOUR THOUGHTS ON YOUR CARE. I WOULDNT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANY ONE.

terrible doc office, we transferred our 16 mo old son from the one in gig harbor because it was closer to home and they act like they are afraid to touch him and tell us nothing about his growth or anything to do with his health, no explanation of shots, anything. most recently my wife went in to get her arm checked out and the doctor sat on the computer for 20 minutes and said it MIGHT be carpal tunnel, ordered an xray and never called...called them was told we would get a call back and STILL waiting...so we will be transferring back to gig harbor as they are so bad they make the drive worth it.
