Ive gone to Crown Hill Animal Hospital for about 23 yrs. The fist time was for 9 years when I had a Giant Schnauzer. During this time, they were always accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately, I had to treat Turbo for cancer and eventually had to put her down. I waited a couple of years to see if I really wanted a new dog and the emotion and responsibilities needed. Into my life comes Sammy. A miniature Schnauzer. He was the most wonderful and loving dog, companion. After 11 years, I was again faced with having to make decisions regarding his care and life. Once again, the vets at Crown Hill stepped up to the plate. Bad news------Sammy was very sick. We did several different blood draws---Bad news. They recommended a radiologist look at Sammy for another opinion. Terrible news. The emotional support from them was good and I had to make a decision. No quality of life, pain and his condition getting worse by the day. I made the difficult decision to put Sammy down.--A humane and loving thing to do. I set it up with Crown Hill. When we came in, I was carrying Sammy in afghan my mother had made years ago. The staff led me into a quiet and heated private room with couch and chairs and the metal table was covered with a blanket. Definitely not a sterile feeling--just the opposite. Sammy was on my lap, in the blankie. I held him and talked to him. Dr. Darley was so kind and sweet as Sammy went to sleep. She didnt try to hurry us along and was kind and caring. The staff was also there for our support. They followed up with a couple of cards. I will never forget them. Sammy wont either. A wonderful experience considering the circumstances. Thank you, George Vestal

I had a good experience during the two weekend days I had to go in for my cat last summer who was exhibiting signs of severe illness. Dr. Menth treated my cat both days and handled all the requisite tests. He was very good at explaining what testing needed to be done on my cat in order to diagnose him and also gave me realistic options about my pet after the results came back. I was devastated by the sad prognosis and decided to get a second opinion from Aurora Veterinary Hospital where the vet assistant (apparently, my pet was not important enough for a regular vet) stated that VCA Crown Hill does a good job and performed a cursory, almost dismissive "independent" exam but was happy to take my money for the full charge of an exam. I took my beloved cat on a road trip to Santa Barbara so that he could have a grand finale and see some cool things during his last days. I had him euthanize at a clinic in Santa Barbara where I had to contact VCA Crown Hill, so they could get his medical records before euthanizing him. I was clearly distraught, and all the Crown Hill veterinarians I spoke to on the phone during and after this process (it was very difficult for me to get over this and I kept wondering if there was more I should have done even with the abysmal diagnosis), and they were extremely sympathic and supportive. VCA Crown Hill even sent me an unexpected sympathy card a couple of weeks later. Aurora Vet Hospital just sent me a notice that my dead cat is due for his annual. I cannot figure out why they get good reviews except maybe they are the cheapest place in town if thats more important than quality care.

The staff treat our animals like their own. We started coming to VCA for emergency de-worming of our cat & dog shortly after getting them from a shelter. VCA was able to see us first thing in the morning, on a Sunday for no additional fee. Since then, theyve had their yearly check-ups with VCA and done several boardings while we were out of town. I love that I can schedule their check-ups during boardings while theyre already there. They also make sure to get each animal out of the kennel during boarding each day for some attention. The general check-ups the vets have done have been great, theyre thorough, patient with our spazzy dog, and pretty quick. They called to check in on our animals after our kitten had her first set of shots and our older cat had to have a tooth removed.

I have always been given good care there and Jasper seems well taken care of. I dont think he cares but I dont like the fact that I can never seem to get the same vet to care for him I have called for appt. asked that they book me with the same Vet andt then they ask me who that is I say cant you see in his records. Know that information is not recorded. That I dont understand since I think it should so they can go back and question that person if something comes up... I do find it afordable and I also like the fact that they call back the next day to check on how it is all going and even acouple days later if they feel I need checking on. I like that part. So I have gone many times because quality of care and the hours open really help with schedule....

Took my dog in today for his annual exam and saw Dr. Weir. Honestly she was one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met and very kind and open minded too. She REALLY taught me a lot in the intelligent advice and tips she shared. She really really explains things in such a detailed way and I learned so much from her! Everything she had to say was interesting. And she also has a very calm presence which makes one feel at ease. It was great to have an open discussion with her about specific questions I had and she truly listens with such an open mind and has a great range of how she views things. Terrific vet!

Today I had to put my cat of 6 years, Mitzy, to sleep. Doctor Wang and her staff were truly incredible. They were kind and gracious and watched me ugly cry, gasping for air, while they created a loving and understanding space for my cat to have her final moments and for me to say goodbye (after doing all they could to treat/counsel me through her severe neurological issues). The veterinary clinic itself is incredibly clean/sterile and yet has a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. I wont forget their professionalism or their compassion. Highly recommended!

My dog Oliver died two days after being examined by Shuna Cerrato. I described to her how he had been fainting, having trouble breathing, and that he wasnt eating. He had a heart murmur, which she indicated was Grade 3. You would think that she would have prescribed some heart medicine for him! She did not. In fact, she showed no concern whatsoever. He ended up dying of heart failure. The vet at ACCES who examined him the next day diagnosed him with heart failure. Sadly, the golden window of opportunity to have saved him had passed.

A while ago I had to put my pet to sleep, I felt like this hospital made an already difficult decision even worse. Things like having a flea medicine ad on the euthanization bill or never giving us a follow up call after the experience (like suggestions for grief). They also scheduled two families at once to have the same thing done - we could hear the other family crying through the walls. Some of the vets were fine, but it was really hit or miss.
