I brought my bearded Dragon, Java, who was losing weight and not interested in eating. Im on a fixed income,.being handicapped with two children just starting college. The staff at this vet clinic were so friendly and truly seemed interested in the well-being of my pet. They were able to help me more than I expected within my tight budget. The vet, Dr. Hashimoto, was so kind and took his time examining my lizard and explaining my options and their costs. He didnt give me any guilt for having an "exotic pet" on such a tight budget, and seemed very pleased with how well I take care of him. Better than some who have the money to splurge and buy the wrong things - like colored sand that causes impactions. His goodwill and opinion of my care softened the blow of finding out my baby has a cancerous growth that is inoperable - even if I could afford an operation. I appreciated their understanding and efforts to find the least expensive route to diagnose my lizard. Their compassion was evident in how they handled him. Their prices were surprisingly reasonable, considering the VCA closer to home I used to go to. I never got out of there for less than $200, and started going to a different vet because they were so much more reasonable several years ago, but East Mill Plain VCA seems less expensive to me. Ill be bringing my miniature poodle Monday because of lingering congestion (he is 12/13 yr old). They warned me that it would be $60 for the base fee, that it is that much bc my dog is sick. If it is a wellness checkup, apparently it is cheaper. I think that is awesome. The office is clean and roomy. It has a shorter counter ideal for those in a wheelchair or just shorter in stature. There is plenty of parking and (van)wheelchair parking available. It does not have an automatic door, so its a little hard to maneuver from a wheelchair when your hands are full of lizard (or dog or cat), but the staff is often on the lookout and will help with the door. The bathroom isnt truly wheelchair friendly (toilet is too short and no handrails) but it is manageable - and there is plenty of room to move the wheelchair around. It is located down the road from Elmers Restaurant and a Starbucks. Ive been to this clinic twice in the last three months and will be going again on Monday.

We have four fur babies that we take here. Almost all of the staff is friendly and helpful. There is one person at the front desk who simply should not work in any form of customer service. Both her face and tone of voice show she is annoyed with customers. Ive sat in the front waiting for my appointment and watched how she handled a difficult customer. Ive worked in customer service, management specifically for several years and I was shocked to see how she handled the customer and how rude she was. All of the other front desk is extremely friendly and helpful. I love all of the vet techs, they are all very knowledgeable, and friendly. There is one in particular that I always wish was our vet because I love her, shes amazing. I like all the vets but one, I believe he is rude and thinks highly of himself. He treats you like any issue with your pet is your fault, he makes you seem like a child. He will explain things in the "simplest terms so you can understand" and will even draw you pictures to help. I wish I could say I liked him but I dont. I believe dogs have a good sense of character and one of my dogs hates him, he will bark at him as soon as he walks in and wont let the vet touch him. He always calls him a she every time we see him. Last time I went in I discussed an issue with the vet tech and she gave me advise. I then later discussed it with the vet and he interrupted me and told me that shes only a technician and she doesnt know what shes talking about. There are a million ways to handle a tech being "wrong" but interrupting me and essentially calling her less than you is the wrong way. We love all of the other vets there, just try and steer clear of that one. I wont give names but Im pretty sure hes the only male vet. Ive seen a lot of comments about being overpriced, Im not sure if this is true because we havent taken our babies anywhere else. But I do know that when my pup got neutered they called us saying he needed 6 baby teeth removed at $25 a piece. When we arrived they charged us for zero of the teeth. They also didnt charge us when we brought a cat we found in for a visit.

Our pets have been patients at this establishment for almost a decade. I called a couple of days ago and again this morning to make sure they had feline flea medication in stock. They said they did. I said Id be in later today. When I went by, I was told for the first time that I had to request it 24 hours before picking it up. When I said that Id called twice about it, she said I could wait 10-15 minutes for them to process the request. After waiting, I went back up to the desk to ask about something else, when she said one of our cats hadnt been in since 2015, and so they could only sell me a non-Rx medication. I knew that wasnt right, but since Paradyne was the only thing Dr Lynn had recommended, I was confused. I asked if it was cheaper. She said the Paradyne was $240 and the other was $185. Thats a big leap in price so I didnt buy any. I came home and found the record where the cat in question had her shots summer 2016 and got her tag renewed based on that statement. I called VCA back and told them, but got put on hold, so I hung up. The phone rang shortly after. It was Brooke who said she didnt know if wed been disconnected, and I told her I hung up because I was tired of having my time wasted. She said, "Perfect," and hung up. Thats how little she cared about our animals. I was going to get a copy of their records to take to another vet, but then realized thats a waste of time since they obviously dont keep them.

All three doctors (Lynn, Alayson & Kate) have seen my dogs and they have all been exceedingly patient, knowledgeable and accessible after I have left the hospital. Their genuine passion for animals is obvious, and their standard of care and professinalism evident. They take their time with procreduces so as not to stress my dogs, and take (even more!) time with me to clearly explain diagnoses, treatment options, etc. They were able to quickly diagnosis an extremely rare vasopression deficiency in my incontinent 15 year old lab mix, which was completely alleviated as soon as we started medication. I am so thankful they were able to make his last year more comfortable. He had a myriad of "old dog issues", but everyone at the hospital was supportive of my less aggressive treatment stance and continued to offer unwavering guidance as we navigated his aging. I could not imagine having brought him anywhere else. They have seen my mastiff mix since she was a puppy and always made an effort from early on to make it a positive experience for her. Now she cant get enough of the place! Every staff member I have worked with, from the assistants to the licensed techs to the doctors themselves, routinely go above and beyond for me - going that one extra step where you can see the passion and love that drives them shine through. Love this place and everyone who works there.
