BEWARE! This is a terrible veterinary clinic. If you need vaccines or dog/cat food or simple stuff this place is fine, but otherwise GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! We brought our cat here for a spay. First of all their price for this procedure is almost 2x that of most vets. Seeing good reviews though we decided that it was worth it to ensure a good experience for our cat. 7 days after she was still having trouble walking so we brought her back in. The first thing they did was take xrays (more $$$ for them) ... as an MD and a rational human being I find this absolutely rediculous - abnormalities in a previously 100% normal patient 1 week after a surgery should obviously be attributed to a surgical complication. They took absolutely no responsibility and told us that her trouble walking was "congenital" and just an amazing coincidence that it happened right after surgery... They offered referral to an orthopedic surgeon (more $$$ for them) but did not even provide us with pain or anti-inflammatory medicine to go home with. Next I went to my uncle - a practicing vet for about 40 years - He told me that injuries from positioning during a spay are actually very common, especially in inexperienced surgeons. HE (not the vey that did the injury) recommended an anti-inflammatory med to help with the obvious pain our cat was in. I called Powell Blvd Clinic to speak with the surgeon and asked if he ever saw positioning injuries with this surgery. He flat out lied to me. He quickly said, "no," and dismissed the issue. I was baffled that a professional would do such a thing. In summary - they inflicted injury on one of their patients, then denied it and lied about it, then performed unnecessary imaging, did not provide pain relief, and then charged us for all of it even though it was their complication! As an aside - I did very much like Dr. Felton during our initial visit there. She seemed to really care about what she was doing. Funny though that she told us our cat was "perfect in every way" during our initial history and physical and then another vet there explained his surgical complication / injury by telling us our cat had a congenital problem a month later....

I you are working class poor, I would advise you to go to another vet! I did not want to give any stars but google makes you pick at least one. My kitten died after being misdiagnosed at this "Veterinary Center". I dont see the original review up anymore which I wrote while I was crying and heartbroken so I am writing another. Lucifer was a healthy kitten who had gobbled down some yarn. The yarn was blocking his intestine and when I took him into Powell Veterinary Center they just gave him antibiotics and told me if I wanted any more info they would have to do a bunch of really expensive tests. They pushed me to get a credit card and then left me alone in a room to "make a decision about my cats health". I felt bullied and cornered. I could not afford their "tests" and did not understand what was wrong with my kitten. The credit card was out of the picture. Needless to say the antibiotics they sold me did nothing and my kitten continued to suffer. Struggling to pee and poo and laying around in the bathtub. So back I went and the vets gave me pain meds for him. These did nothing to clear up his symptoms, of course. One night he was struggling to breath when I got home from work so I rushed him to the emergency vet. The operating vet told me whenever boy kittens with Lucifers symptoms come in she feels around their intestines for some type of string related blockage. She said she could feel it as soon as she examined him as he lay dying. The emergency vet also said if this issue were caught sooner, Lucifer never would have died because they could have done surgery. She told me what happened to me at Powell Veterinary Center was terrible especially the pushing of a credit card for elaborate testing when what was going on with my kitten was a typical issue all vets and vet techs should know how to manually check for. RIP Little Lucifer. I will never set foot in Powell Vet Center ever again.

I think that the people here are really friendly, but I am not necessarily paying them for that. Vets should have good customer service regaurdless of price, and they were way too expensive! Started taking my dog here last summer when she was a puppy. She injured herself during the summer and I took her to the emergency vet. The next day I went to powell to see if my dogs leg was broken and they didnt even do an X ray on her! they bandaged her and wanted me to come back the next day?! In my own experience with broken bones, you want to set them as fast as possible, not sit on it for a day and later figure out it was broken before it is too late to do anything. I think it was low that they tried to convince me to come in the next day when my dog was having an emergency. Luckily the dogs foot wasnt broken. However, that didnt stop them from trying to pressure me into bringing the dog in everyday to have the vet tech wrap it with clean bandages until it was healed. I looked up online how to do the bandages, and saved us over 600$ that would have been spent on them wrapping our dogs leg for us! I was amazed at how easy it was to wrap the dogs leg and was surprised at the price they were planning on charging me for it. Over all they are way overpriced and pushy. I will not be going back.

Thy ARE the BEST! My dog and I were in a car accident. I was severely injured, so I can only imagine how hurt he was without a seat belt. I took him to Banfield for immediate care. They did an exam (about 5 minutes) and provided medicine for him. I told them I had only had $100 and they charged $95.00 for the exam, and gave me an estimate for x-rays and misc. tests That totaled over $800.00. I got a bad vibe from them, so after hours of online research, I found Powell vet clinic. The website was very informative. The people here as soon as I walked in the door made me feel like family. They offered me a cold beverage to drink while I waited! I could tell that they realy care. The Dr. did an extremely thurough exam, and found things they missed at the other place. The Dr.explained everything in detail, answered all my questons, and made sure I understood. I felt so relieved my dog was getting the attention and treatment he deserved. At the end of the appointment, I was shocked the bill was half of Banfields estimate! And to top it off the gave me a free Advantage Flea control product! I will never go anywhere else. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

How can you rationalize giving a dog medication, knowing that this is his 3rd time ever in a vet and hes 11, but not much else? The steroids you gave my mister killed him! They weakens his immune system so much so that he could not fight the true infection he had!! As my dog lay here nearly lifeless and my roommate was freaking out with grief, you couldnt have the compassion to just give her a call back. Yes, she is hard to deal with and a bit of an odd character... thats her child!! You could have had ANYONE call just to give her a piece of mind!! Now we just pray that another family will not have to experience the sheer disregard for life that we had to. I wish you all well! I am sure they are not bad people, but my mister is not here to let me know whos good or whos bad with his gentle growlers of protection, I will go with my gut on this one. Just please be careful and pay Attention to your pets! I feel so bad that I listen to these dr and not my mister man, may he Rest In Peace.
