The ER here isnt the best choice. First of all, it feels dirty & unkempt. Second, its the hospital where the jail brings all its prisoners & the police bring their DUI cases. Its not unusual to see a patient in the hall handcuffed to their bed, or police all over the ER guarding a prisoner room. Every time I go here, its at least 4 hours- even if its a rapid strep test. With so much staff there is zero reason to have to wait that long! The Triage is a joke. One time I came here & was very ill. I was laying on the floor crying in horrific pain & vomiting. The triage nurse did NOTHING. Finally my husband made him put me in a room. The lady that comes to get your insurance info took one look at me & ran to get the doctor. The doctor came in, told me I had gas pains and sent me home after he gave me morphine (morphine for gas pains??) The next night I had the same symptoms. I sat at home in horrible pain for 5 hours before I went back to the ER, since the first doctor was convinced it wasnt an emergent situation . This time another doctor told me it was my gallbladder & I needed emergency surgery or I would expire. I was furious that the first doctor just sent me home. I could have died! I feel every time I have come to this hospital, something hasnt been right.I brought my daughter here once for severe hives. We waited almost an hour to get into the triage area, so I left & brought her to another hospital where we were seen in 5 minutes since her hives were so bad. Family members that have come here have also had issues such as waiting over 8 hours for medications and impolite nursing staff. The only reason it got 2 stars is I did have a good experience with the labor/delivery unit & one ER nurse was amazing with my family member, but I wont go here anymore since my misdiagnosis that nearly cost me my life.

I was held up in the ER for 11 hours while the general surgeon and the OB were basically drawing straws to not take my case. As neither wanted to be bothered with me or my pain. after OBGYN Dr vangehem drew the short straw so to speak i became a patient at the labor and delivery unit at St vincents hospital. After my lyperscopic surgery it was found that I have cysts on my overies and a bad case of endo. It was the worst experience of my life. DR. vangehem was the worst dr. ive ever come in contact with. horrible bedside mannor, matter of fact it wasnt even bedside, she called me the day after my surgery from home and seemed to busy to be bothered with me as a patient. Also the nursing staff on that floor were horrendous, just because I have tattoos and look the part of a biker, I felt I was prejudged as a med seeker or they assumed I was uneducated based upon my visual characteristics. I had to flat out tell a nurse that I have 17 years of medical back ground to stop her from lying to me over D/C an IV from my arm. When reporting this incident and everything else that transpired during my stay with an administartor named amber she got off the phone with me quickly and I never had a follow up phone call back. So upset I want to get a lawyer. Its a shame I have to give any stars at all.

My husband was brought to ICU from Door County. Everyone we met and dealt with was wonderful full. Dr. Andrews, Dr. AJ and Dr Fergus got him up and out and better than new. Every person I met was friendly and helpful. All I had to do was "look" like I needed help and people would take the time to help me, often walking with me to the area I needed to get to. Kevin in ICU made sure I was aware of housing options (we are from Illinois) available for me as I had no idea how long I would need to stay. Dr. Andrews took the time to answer questions and explain things during a particularly rough day for me. After moving to the 7th Floor, the quality of caring continued. All the RNs, CNAs, and even the housekeeping staff were friendly and kind. They all appeared to love their jobs. The nurses that I saw the most of were Donna and Michelle and their good natured teasing helped get my husband back to himself. I truly felt my husband was in excellent hands and we are now back at home.

My sister had the unfortunate experience at this pathetic excuse for a hospital due to pneumonia. She is a 34 year old healthy woman. She had a very bad case of pneumonia, and let me tell you, the nurse staff on the 9th floor is the WORST nursing staff ever!! Very non-responsive, it took 2 hours for her to get a medication that she needed. The Dr. FINALLY, after 5 days of hospital care decided the pneumonia wasnt going away on the antibiotics originally prescribed. Dont get me wrong, I completely understand that nurses are overworked however; that does not give them the right to treat their bread and butter like dirt. Someone needs to do something about this horrible place. Please, if you have another choice, DO NOT select this hospital. EXTREMELY dissatisfied..

The emergency staff is very nice but one time I went to obgyn for contractions . I was in bathroom when my water broke she tested me with a slide she drops it on the floor goes and checks it said it was my membrane only because the slide was dirty. So I went home that night I woke up cause I felt cold and my pants were wet and I decided to go to st Marys hospital instead they werent sure either if it broke because I already lost all the water they tried to break my water it wont break because it already broke at st Vincent and so I had a dry birth and my baby had billi and needed a light when she went home but she was full term 41 weeks. Im glad GOD was there to watch over my baby when the ob staff at st Vincents couldnt do there job right.

I had two total knee replacements done at St. VINCENTS, and I had excellent care right from the time I walked in the door....The nurses were wonderful, very kind and caring...My Dr. Was incredible, Dr. Marc Anderson.....I was terrified to have the surgery, but after seeing him for an appointment, I knew I would be in good hands....My surgeries were 8 months apart, both times I was hospitalized, I received excellent care....I referred a friend to Dr. Anderson to have her knee done, and she also had excellent care... I was very pleased with my care.... THANK YOU ST. VINCENTS :-) :-)
