To Whom It May Concern, This letter is to inform of the substandard care and negligence that took place on May 13, 2017 at Aurora Burlington Emergency Department in Burlington, WI. (Address 252 McHenry St 53105) I took my son, Ezrah to the ER in Burlington in the evening on 5/13/17. He was experiencing labored breathing, flared nostrils, and cough. Upon arrival, triage took his vitals. I was in a nervous and anxious state that I do not remember what his readings were. They sent us to waiting room. It should be noted that there were a number of people waiting at this time, and the nurse said, "we are very busy." A short time later Ezrah was called back. When we got to the room, we sat and waited for 20 min. No one came during this time. Then Dr Mark Phillips came in and stated, I believe Ezrah has croup. we will be doing an x ray on him to confirm. He did not look at him or touch him at all at this time. The x ray was completed shortly after. My sons breathing at this point was worsening and he was becoming bluer in the face. Still, there were no vitals checked and no one listened to or looked at him. He was having an extremely hard time talking and he was becoming restless. His stomach and neck muscles were contracting to the point that you could see his ribs, and his nostrils were flaring. We waited between an hour and half and two hours in that room for x ray results. Again, no vitals checked. My son was listless and his face was almost a purple color by the end of the wait. Finally Dr Phillips came in and said it was pneumonia. He then said hed be putting him on an antibiotic. He mentioned it could take 2 days to 2 weeks to feel better. He still did not touch or look at him. I asked how will I know if things are serious or when should I worry? He stated " when things start to get worse and when he is non responsive" (He was ALREADY non responsive.) I was clearly anxious and very scared and made these worries known to this doctor. He said nothing and was stoic in his manner and I felt like I was crazy, so I decided to be quiet and TRUST this caregiver who was supposedly in charge of my sons health and well being. Before we left, they gave us discharge papers and also one round of antibiotic. It should be noted that nowhere on the papers were there vitals listed. I was extremely frustRated and overwhelmingly anxious and scared when we left. We got him home and his symptoms had worsened. My husband and I argued about whether or not he was well. I called back to the ER department at this time to explain how bad he was. Dr Phillips answered. I explained that Ezrah was worse. He stated.. how so? I said.. well had you actually looked at him and touched him maybe youd have an idea. He then said, Ill go get a nurse. I hung up. We decided to take him to Childrens Hospital at 11:15pm. Upon arrival there his pulse ox was at 78, and he was rushed to get oxygen and an IV. He continued to be on oxygen and albuterol as well as IV for 18 hours until he stabilized. It turns out he had a virus that caused his airways to close. He was having an asthma attack that was left untreated. Had I not made the decision to take him to Childrens, he probably would have died. The ED in Burlington mis-diagnosed him, failed to treat and stabilize him, and put him at risk of serious complication and/or death. I am disappointed, enraged, and saddened at the substandard care, negligence, and malpractice that my son received at the Burlington ED. I want to ensure no other person or child has to go through the emotional distress and pain that we did. (And still are) Do not ever take your child or anyone important to you here.

Having been to the Area Freodert and Wheaton hospitals, Aurora is one of the worst hospital chains in the state, and Ive been to quite a few. However, the worst is the one in Burlington. 1st Experience: My father in law found a fingernail in his stack of pancakes at breakfast when he was admitted overnight 2nd Experience: ER Doctor Misdiagnosed my wife, nearly leading to her death. 3rd Experience: I witnessed doctors... DOCTORS using wikipedia while at the ER. Not real comforting. The people of Burlington have no choice but to go to Aurora for everything unless they want to drive an hour away to a better hospital, which we now do. Aurora is where C average doctors go when they graduate and it shows in their work comparatively to better hospitals... to any other hospitals, really. If you value your health and your life, spend the extra couple of bucks on gas and go to any other hospital that is NOT under the Aurora name.

Just received my bill from taking my son here to the clinic for a cough. The bill was nearly 400.00 for a 15 minute visit with a doctor. Just plain overpriced I will never go to Aurora for anything else. here I come Wheaten or I think Im going to try out a private practicing physician. I cant think anybody anywhere in any business that charges 1600.00 an hour, except here.

My mom was transferred here from Kenosha Aurora because they had no beds available. Was very hesitant because of terrible experiences with Aurora. She was admited for a stroke. The staff was wonderful here. Very compassionate and understanding to my moms needs and to her family. The Docters were great. I am very pleased with her care while here and she is also.

I think their phone support staff is awful to interact with. The collection agencies they sell their unpaid bills to are unprofessional, threatening bullies that wont allow you to settle the origional debt through the Aurora Billing department. I expect fraud to happen if i were to give my credit card to a debt collector that talks like a mugger.

I recently had a family member with a broken wrist treated here. I was impressed with the level of care and kindness shown to us while there for treatment. The staff is incredibly nice, personable, and worked hard to make it a pleasant experience. It seems like everyone genuinely likes working at this location.

I was in the emergency room on a Sunday morning and had outstanding service. Everyone from the receptionist to the techs were friendly and caring. I got results from both CT scan and ultrasounds very quickly. The nurse (Lisa?) was great and the doctor ( a woman ) was calm and reassuring.

Put into a level 4 E.R. room doctor barely looked me over after my car accident once he realized I wasnt in life threatening danger. Get home to find small fragments of glass in my hand. Thats the quality care I look for in a emergency room visit.

One star for the simple fact the switchboard operators need some additional training. It shouldnt be 50/50 on whether they transfer you to the department you ask for, but more times than not Ive gotten transferred to the wrong office.

CPA needs to go back to school! It would be nice to see a full fledged physician, when youre injured. Wife pulled her back out. She gave her anti inflammatory, Valium (Psych) and sent us on our way. Over 2 hours, no results.
