I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Hill and his staff. I had a traumatic fracture of two front teeth and endured a painful bone graft and implant process. The results were nothing but “Horrible.” After a year of pain, they told me not bad, this is the best we could hope for and if you don’t smile , no one will notice.” I felt betrayed by my dentists. One day as I was searching the internet, looking for pictures of teeth that were uglier than mine, I came across “Excellence in Dentistry,” located in Madison. The ease of asking a question and getting a prompt response had me traveling to their office within a week. Dr. Hill had a professional and open approach; he listened intently to my story. We established a plan with several options. He said, “You won’t look as good as before the accident, but you will look a lot better than you do now.” Yes I could accept that. His expertise and gentle touch made me feel confident. He carefully began the preparation of knowing what he wanted to do. He used pictures, x-rays, impression to formulate the plan before starting the process. Dr. Hill is knowledgeable; he includes his associates to have autonomy as well. They are well educated and use state of the art equipment which they are very familiar and comfortable with using it. My end results were fabulous, and the happiness that I felt was shared by all. This by far was the best decision I have ever made. The consultation was priceless. And I would encourage all to take advantage of Dr. Hill’s knowledge

I am so glad that I found Dr Hill and his staff. I was diagnosed with severe periodontal disease (due to factors not entirely my fault) and every dentist I went to treated me disrespectfully and told me to pull out all my teeth. Dr Hill did not promise me any miracles, but said that there may be hope with periodontal laser treatment. I had the laser treatment and now I finally have hope for the first time in a long time. I am still in the healing process but so far things are very much improving. Dr Hill is a great dentist and you can sense the years of experience and expertise that he has. He is realistic about your treatment, but not pessimistic about outcomes and willing to listen to what you want. I felt that I had individual attention and that I was treated as a valued patient, not just another number. His staff are all great, but I especially had great experiences with Diane, the hygienist. The office is welcoming and comfortable. If you are thinking about getting laser periodontal treatment, I would recommend Dr Hill. Excellence in Dentistry is one of only two dental offices in Madison that offer Periolase, and having had consultation at both, I would definitely recommend and choose Dr Hill!

I called Excellence in Dentistry after finding them on google and they were the only dentist willing to do a free "smile makeover" consultation instead of having to pay $40 other dentists were demanding. I was seen immediately after arriving quite early, the staff was incredibly professional, but still warm and friendly. None of that judgement for having some plaque you get at some dentists. They were extremely understanding of my financial situation and gave me multiple options to fit my budget. After we decided on the option I was able to get in for a cosmetic bonding procedure just one week after my initial consult. At that appointment the staff remembered my name, details and were all very friendly. The procedure was extremely quick and they were very careful to ensure my comfort. If you request it they can even provide scented candles and other comforting elements to make sure you have an comfortable appointment. The stain that was on my tooth is now covered with their cosmetic bonding procedure and, as cheesy as it sounds, I have had an enormous confidence boost.

Jim Murphy

I have been a patient of Jim Hill for almost 20 years. His skills are suburb, his professionalism is always evident and his demeanor is relaxing. But the real strength of the practice is the team that they have assembled. Each team member is warm, responsive to individual needs and they really listen to the patient. And, as strange as it seems, they not only like Hill, they really like each other. Makes for tight teamwork with professional patient coverage. (I do not want to embarrass Jim too much, but at one time they called him Dr Wonderful. Aint that a great thing to say about your boss?) Jim and the group walked me through a decision I had to make to save a tooth and supported me in my decision when another dentist would have told me years ago to pull the sucker out. He allowed me to be in charge of my own dental care and that is greatly appreciated. Jim and Team - thanks for all your support over all the years. As long as I got a mouth, I will be back happily.

I went to Dr. Jim Hill for extreme jaw pain called trigeminal neuralgia and after a very thorough exam he made a splint that I was to wear every night. Then every two weeks I would go back and he would examine how the splint was doing and then re-adjust it to my jaw. Each time I returned to him my pain would be less frequent and severe. After four months of adjustments I was able to stop all of my prescribed medicines which did cause me a serious side effect. Today I am pain free and have Dr. Hill and his assistants to thank for these results. Anyone who is having jaw pain needs to have Dr. Hill assess your needs. He is an excellent communicator and will explain your situation and his recommendations in a very easy to understand explanation. I only wish I had known of him when I first had this as I endured this pain for about two years and only drugs would reduce it. Now no drugs and no pain so thanks much Dr. Hill!

As a new Madison resident, I was referred to Excellence in Dentistry by my boyfriend - he and his family have been patients here since he was a child. My first appointment exceeded my expectations to say the least. Every staff member I encountered (front desk personnel, hygeniest, and doctor) was incredibly friendly and professional, the office is clean and modern, and each exam room has cable tv. Most importantly, both my hygeniest (Tina) and dentist (Dr Batchelor) were exceedingly attentive to my needs and went above and beyond to spend time informing and explaining things to me. So impressed. In addition, the front desk staff offered me beverages and cookies while I waited before my appointment, and insisted that I take some "freebies" (chapstick, toothpaste, etc) before I left. Looking forward to being a patient here going forward! A+

Ive been going to Excellence in Dentistry for the past 25 years. The staff there are always friendly and professional and make it feel like a family environment. I dont have a preference so Ive seen all three of the dentists and all of them are great! I had Invisalign done with Dr. Hill and it worked wonderfully. Ive also done whitening as well that really made a difference on my teeth! My children love it there as well. The hygienists are very good with kids and give my boys "Superman Smiles." They even have a "Learning Lab" for kids which is very cool. As far as the facility goes, both the Cottage Grove and Madison offices are beautiful and clean- they have kids areas, comfy seating, coffee and water as well as complementary cookies for after your cleaning! (YUM) I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist.
