Let me first just say: I have seen many complaints about Dr. Middleton being curt with some of you. Have you ever met another doctor previous to your visit to Dr. Middletons office? I have a physician in my family, let me tell you, the VAST majority of them are brief with all of us. You see, doctors, especially successful ones such as Dr. Middleton, have a lot of patients. That is why that cant take the time to talk about all of your undoubtedly hypochondriacal concerns. Yeah, I looked up the adjectival form of hypochondriac, so sue me. Anyways, on to the review. On 11/5/09, I was operated on by Dr. Middleton at the Orthopaedic Hospital in Glendale, Wisconsin. Wow. To say I was pleased with how everything went is an understatement. I must admit, I was very nervous, as this procedure, an ACL reconstruction, was to be the first major surgery of my life. Well, I can honestly say (knock on wood), that I would not fear another procedure of this type in the future. Everything through both the Orthopaedic Hospital and Dr. Middletons office was handled extremely smoothly. The operation itself did leave me a bit sore, but that is to be expected. It has now been over a month since the operation, and I could not be happier with my results. My constant pre-surgical aches have been alleviated, and I once again have confidence back in my knee, and in turn, its overall strength. I have to say, the fact that some of his patients have had a bad experience with Dr. Middleton is puzzling to me, as my situation was, in my mind, an absolute slam dunk. I would highly recommend Dr. Middleton. If you are considering a procedure, at the very least, sit down with him and discuss it. I have to say, I found him to be plenty personal. Regardless, he is an excellent Orthopedic Surgeon, first and foremost. That was my main concern in selecting him as my doctor. Thanks for your time. Sincerely, -Very happy with my results in Bay View Note: there are no apostrophes in my message, as they all come out looking like this, ('), due to some sort of website error.

After reading some of the complaints about Dr. Middleton I just had to respond. I am a highly active athlete (not only for my job but also for play). I first met Dr. Middleton in 2000 when I moved to Milwaukee from Southern California; he came highly recommended from another doctor in SoCal. He performed surgery for a torn meniscus; he was informative and polite (in fact he is so likable I wanted to continue a conversation non-medicinal related but he had other patients waiting). Recovery time was excellent and post care was also very good. Fast forward 17 years and I tore another meniscus (yeah basketball is over for me now); I called Don and set up an appointment; then proceeded to schedule an MRI. Now due to a previous surgery 2 weeks prior (pin inserted into finger - like I said no more basketball) the first place I went to for the MRI actually denied me due to the pin being in my finger. I called Dr. Middleton and he investigated as to why and was able to get me into a different MRI; he was working for me which I appreciated greatly. The night before the surgery he called me and the evening of the surgery he called to see how I was doing; he was basically working 12 hour days. Also Dave is one of the best people; he helped push my surgery through the insurance company and made sure the timetable was set. For those people who have written bad reviews; I am truly sorry about what occurred but there was a time when I saw Dr. Middleton more than my regular doctor and every interaction has been professional and I have never encountered any of the negative comments that were left here during my appointments.

I’ve been going to Dr. Middleton since early summer. We have been pushing my knee surgery back due to timing. Today I saw a different side to him; we weren’t seeing eye to eye on a MRI that I’ve been requesting for weeks and his reaction was getting up in the middle of me speaking and proceeding to storm out of the room. It was immature, rude, and very unprofessional. I’ve never experienced being treated like that with a doctor. Doctors are supposed to be content, have patience, and be as informational as possible. After seeing this grown man walk out of our appointment like a 4 year old throwing a temper tantrum it made me lose all trust and respect for his ridiculous behavior. I would never want a doctor like him to do surgery on me, not after seeing his irrational behavior. I don’t know if he was having a bad or off day but in that case don’t go to work. Don’t see patience’s if you can’t be patient. I’m so hurt by the way he treated me, letting me leave that office with tears. I didn’t know doctors like that existed and now that I do you better believe I’ll be doing more research and asking more questions with my next ones before letting them operate on my body. So dissapionted.

I have been with Dr Don Middleton and his office for over one year now and I do not get treated well everytime I have been at that facility or trying to follow up on test results -- it takes them over a month to get back with you. In the mean time, I have been hospitalized three times. My typical appt with Dr. Middleton conists more of talking about his famly issues rather than talking about mine. He also does now follow up with referrals and does not annotate what he tells you he will do such as a refferal or request further testing. After not hearing anything after 3 weeks (their typical waiting time), I find out that there is nothing in my records indicating a referral. this has happened once too many and my makes me very incomfortable that he does not seem to take my health, more importantly my life, in a more reassuring manner to give me peace of mind. I do not recommend him to anyone. Plus this is the most unorganized office I have ever dealt with - no one gets back to you and when you finally do get a live voice they are very rude.

I recently had knee reconstruction, 10/19/09 to be exact. From the start Dr Middleton has been nothing but courteous, informative and supportive. From the very first appointment to the night before my surgery when he called me to see how I was doing and if I was prepared for the surgery. There was a follow up call the evening of the surgery as well. I went in for my first follow-up today to which he showed me the detailed pictures of the surgery and explained picture by picture what had been done. Hes an unbelievably busy Dr and handles one appt after the other so each person may not get the "feel good" feeling one might be looking for as he wants to attend to each person. THIS I appreciated because this is why I was always able to get in WHEN I needed to and at decent times. Hes an excellent surgeon that I would recommend to anyone. Dave his assistant was great for questions I had following the surgery as I was afraid of anything that seemed to maybe be unusual as well as Dr Middleton calling me back personally to address my fears.
