ive been a patient at NY Eye Surgery since 1994. Ive had cataracts removed from both eyes and had interocular lens implanted under Dr. Nirenburg, who no longer works there. My last 4 visits there Ive been under the care of Jiyoung Yoon, O.D. because of the increase pressure in my eyes which could lead to glucoma, so the plan of treatment is prevention. Today I had an appointment which ended leaving a terrible taste in my mouth. Yoon decided she no longer wants to treat me and wanted me out of her office. What she failed to understand is once you dialate someones eyes and expose them to extreme light its only natural to withdraw. That was not her concern and she frankly didnt care about my discomfort. Her concern was to play catch up because she was late and she had a load of patients to see. she is pretty good at her job but not good with communicating with her patients. she has always addressed me as "The Patient", shes abrupt, insensitive and very disrespectful. what she doesnt know is I am a RN, who just came from work that morning after working a 12 hour shift. I know how to treat patients, and their families. she needs sensitivity training which should include, respect, dont ever talk down to people or dismiss them like theyre insignificant, you cant put "The Patient" in a box, and we are more than just eyes. As an adult I have never up to now been disturbed and insulted by a health care giver and I hope I dont ever again experience this again. That visit reminded me of all that I dont want to be to my patients.

The wait time to be seen is ridiculous. My moms first visit she waited 5 hrs to be seen! My mom is in her mid 70s. I accompanied her on her 2nd visit and could not believe how this place is run. Very unprofessional. Staff members can be seen goofing off and chatting away everywhere. My mom was told to come in at 11am instead of her 12pm original appt. That its the drs last appt slot. Arrived at 10:45 am...Ummm so why wait hrs to be seen? Not to mention they violate HIPAA laws alllll over the place from the moment you walk in. Waited 2.5 hrs just to have a basic eye test done by a tech drops put in to dialate her eyes at 12:50 pm. When I asked why the long wait? I was told "its just the way it is". No apology or real explanation. An hr at 1:40pm later to have a pressure test done with a machine by another tech. Nevermind most of the patients in the waiting area are elderly and like my mom not told it will be a very long wait so they can be prepared. Will be looking into another facility for her future appts.

I saw Dr. Radcliffe for cataract and glaucoma surgeries. He is not only incredible in his field, but one of the most caring and helpful medical professionals i have ever encountered. This was complicated scheduling as both eyes were involved and I was out of the country. Gerard Scalera , the Practice Administrator was an amazing life saver. He and I communicated via email for weeks to get everything organized. He did everything including insurance clearance , and multiple schedules, all with efficiency and a smile (i think). Upon arrival the entire team at NY Eye Surgery was welcoming and helpful, not to mention booking car or van service to and from appointments. I had expedited appointments for my many unexpected follow up appointments -- very appreciative and grateful for that! Dr, Radcliffe and team are the best! Thank you.

I wish I had seen this review months ago....I have advance glaucoma.....my lasers took place in August 2016. I am presently on vacation in Florida....I called the office to speak Dr. Fiona Phatay because of dryness..redness & itcy eyes....she did not return my call...so I called again...she had a member of her staff tell me to go to urgent care or the hospital emergency....she perform laser surgery...switch my eye drops from lumigan to combigan....and she could not take a minute of her time to speak to her patient....today 1/30/17) I receive a call to remind me of my next appointment......smh....I will be going to Mt. Sinai Hospitals Opthalmologist Clinic.....this place is all about the Benjamins and not the patient... I

My mother came in for a 1:30pm appt and was seen by the technician at 4:15pm and that was only because I complained to Daniella the "supervisor". Eye techs spend time gossiping and goofing around instead of taking care of patients. When I asked one of the techs what was going on her response was "Well, this is normal here." Took everything in me not to give her a piece of my mind. According to my mother this happens every time she has an appt here. She wont go anywhere else because this is close to home. Please keep in mind they only got that one star because the manager acknowledged the fact that this is bad practice on their side. If not- they wouldve gotten ZERO stars! Take your money elsewhere people!

Do not come to this place. Unless you wnat to spend 2-3 hours waiting. They do not respect the patients. I was waiting for over two hours with my brother at the waiting room people that came before us got to see the doctor first. When i asked to speak to the manager she hide and told the nurse "tell her im not here today" i asked to speak to someone else she told me to look for my chart. Thats her job! Not mine. After speaking with another nurse they whent to look for my chart and my brothers. They were thrown into a empty office where nobody was looking. All she said was "we are sorry will call you soon" i will no longer come to this place. Worst experience and poor service towards patients.

My apt. was at 9am. I got there around 8:15 am. I left around 11:50am. I went to see Dr.Radcliffe and he made me feel comfortable enough. He was nice and knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I was really nervous about getting an eye surgery but he made me feel like its an easy procedure. The nurses and technicians were all very nice too but the biggest negative is the wait time. Too many people and over crowded and tiny parking lot. I would love to continue to see Dr. Radcliffe for followups if he was located in Manhattan and not in Bronx. I highly recommend Dr. Radcliffe. Great doctor.

My Dad had an 12pm appt, the car service provide by NY ESC, was 30 mins late. We didnt arrive at center till 1:30. The appointment was set for 12pm. Its current 7:30 and we are still in operation, 6 hours waiting and counting. They have horrible horrible scheduling by the doctors, if you can please go else where. However the nurses are wonderful and helpful, I advise you choose and plan carefully. The estimated time of 2 to 3.5 hrs is a total lie.

Terrible place! They booked my appointment for 1:30 PM and then made me wait for 4 hours before being called. The staff does not treat patients with respect and the doctor that was supposed to check my vision took less than 3 minutes to examine my eyes and to tell me that everything was fine (without even giving me the chance to ask any questions). If you value your time, money and vision DO NOT GO TO THAT PLACE!!!
