I went to McClellands this morning for an 11a.m. appointment with a foster dog. By 11:15, I was still waiting. I asked the receptionist how much longer it would be , I told her I was on time for my appointment. There were no emergencies that came in to the hospital either. Every time that I have gone there for my foster dogs I always have to wait. I am always on time for my appointments. The longest I have ever waited was 45 minutes, again, no emergency case had walked into the hospital. When I scheduled a follow up appointment , I was told by the receptionist that I should "leave myself enough time." I understand things come up, but every time I am there? I wonder how the staff would react if I was 15, 30 or 40 minutes late every time that I had an appointment? They have no respect for my time. After I spoke up today , I was seen soon after, but if I did not say anything , I wonder how much longer I would have waited.

About a year ago our dog developed a hot spot that was making him very uncomfortable. We called our regular vet and the only appointment they could offer us was 4 days out. Of course we didnt want our dog to be so uncomfortable for such a long period of time, so we called McClelland. Our dog wasnt even a client of theirs, but they understood the urgency and squeezed us in for an appointment later that day. Weve been going to McClelland ever since, and the staff has continued to be just as friendly and accommodating as they were that first day. We are especially thankful for Dr. Souza and the time he takes to thoroughly look over our dogs at every appointment. He not only treats our dogs well, but he is wonderful with us, too. We never leave there with any questions or concerns about the quality of treatment our dogs received.

As a first-time pet owner, I had a list of questions to ask the vet the first time I took my rescued kitten and the nurses and Dr. Sousa patiently answered them all. They have always been accommodating, friendly and you can tell that they genuinely care about the work they do. Another big plus: when I have to board my cat there ($15 a day), she never comes back nervous, rowdy or agitated. A wellness exam is about $30, $3 medical waste charge, distemper is $16, so the prices are reasonable. The downtown location (right, and I mean right, off the 33 in downtown Buffalo) is incredibly convenient, as well. I am so glad I found McClelland and will take my cat here as long as I'm in Buffalo.

I used to really love coming here with my pets. However, the last few times the vet took the liberty of giving my cats shots they did not need. They did not explain what they were doing nor ask permission. If they had asked, I could have shown them documentation that my cats had the vaccinations they forcing on us. In one case, the hospital had the records on file which leads me to believe they didnt read the information, didnt understand it or they were vaccinating for profit. I have made a decision not to return. Dr. Souza was always wonderful and Philip, the receptionist, was always great. I have neither the patience nor the pocketbook for the other vet.

Earlier today, I heard an orange cat was brought to their place, so I called them to confirm if it is my lost cat or not. They totally could do that through the phone but refused to answer any question. I told them it is hard for me to travel because I dont have a car, so just please answer my questions to clarify if the cat they are having fits my description. They answered me with "it is our policy" and request I must be there to talk. There is no reason to it! I want to see their policy on paper, but honestly I only care if the thin lead I am having is my lost cat or not... I never expect this kind of "it is your business, not our" in a time like this...

I was pleased with everything, from the clean look of the reception area and friendly staff to the expert veterinarian. I thought he was exceptional in his service. He handled the issues with professionalism and expertise rarely found. Further, he was flexible with treatment options deferring in some way to the capabilities and needs of the owner and the pet. I would highly recommend this veterinarian hospital. It is far superior to the place just further up the block where the smell is bad, the people are intolerant and outright discriminatory. The cost difference is $10 but it is worth it because you and your pet will get far superior treatment.

I cannot say enough positive things about this animal hospital. My cat needed to be brought in and they got me an appointment the day that I called. I wasnt able to go because of school so my boyfriend took her. They were extremely accommodating and the doctor was willing to talk to me at length about what was going on. He said they were very thorough and informative. We originally came here for a second opinion because I just felt like my former vet was missing something. I am completely satisfied with the service we received at McClelland and will be using them as my primary vet from now on. Also, they were very inexpensive which is a bonus!

My dog would not be alive without the amazing service of this Clinic. Its not often that you really love your veterinarian but I would never go to another vet except Dr Reynders. Shes really amazing and you would not realize it really until you go to veterinarian who doesnt take the time or the effort to try to help your animal and you compare them to the amazing service Dr Reynders gives you and you realize that its like having McDonalds versus having filet mignon. Theres no comparison to her absolute caring attitude because she truly loves animals and so she does her best to help you as if it was her animal there, sick. -Carmen Bagnarello

We recently moved to Buffalo and had been taking our small herd to another vet nearby. When one of our cats got sick with an upper respiratory infection, we knew he had to be seen that day based on previous infections or it would be pneumonia by the next morning. The vet could not see him for two and a half days so we called McClelland and they saw us that same day, even though we werent their patients. Well, we are now because the visit was great. The staff was friendly and listened to our pets issues and addressed our concerns in a more than timely manner (which is more than can be said for our previous vet).

Dr. Matthew Souza and his excellent staff are extremely knowledgable, compassionate and kind. I have been very, very impressed with the veterinary services at McClelland Small Animal Hospital and my beautiful dog has gotten exceptionally good care, even now, when she is in her last illness. They all know her name and handle her with gentleness and empathy. Prices are very reasonable. An excellent small animal hospital and veterinary office. Contact them with confidence that your pet (bird, fish, cat or ferret, dog, hamster or badger) will be treated very, very well, indeed.
