Ive been mildly displeased with suburban pediatrics. My daughter is four months old and happened to be born with a tooth. During our first check up the individual we see thought it would be appropriate to parade our one week old baby around the office to ask about her tooth (mind you, she was screaming the entire time), she then sent us into a frenzy stating that the tooth was a choking hazard and needed to be removed immediately. This ended up being completely untrue as we took her to a pediatric dentist who stated everything was fine and there was no choking hazard. I also went through three or four lactation consults, during which I stated I was already using several supplements, etc. Each time I returned our provider suggested the same things. Extremely unhelpful. Thankfully my OBGYN actually listened to what had been helpful and what wasnt helpful and was able to assist me. Over the past month and a half or so my daughters reflux has gotten very bad. When I noticed she wasnt eating and refusing her bottle I called and scheduled a sick visit. I explained what was going on and was told she was just a fussy baby. Over the next couple of weeks I called in expressing my concerns, and on one occasion was told "she was in the 98th percentile for weight at her last visit so if shes not eating as much thats not a huge concern". Really. I was also told that she must not be eating because shes constipated and her stomach hurts - this was after me explaining that I know when my daughter is constipated and that was not what was occurring. We went in for another sick visit because every feeding was turning into a battle, and was told it might be because shes congested, and we were advised to use saline spray and suction out her nose. Finally after I thoroughly researched her symptoms (which I had repeatedly described) I landed on her having reflux. I called and stated I needed help managing my daughters reflux, and suddenly they were able to identify that her symptoms ARE indicative or reflux and we got a prescription for Zantac. Meanwhile my daughter began developing a feeding aversion and weve had to switch bottles twice. We will see what happens at her next well visit but based on how things have been going I believe we may have to look elsewhere. Edited to add: Stephanie Goodwin is a horrible medical provider. Despite my asking her if my daughter had a tongue tie, she failed to recognize this. She also prescribed my daughter amoxicillin which sent her reflux spiraling out of control - when I called the office and explained her reflux was worse and she wasnt eating I was told to just keep giving her the amoxicillin. Meanwhile I had to take my daughter to pediatrics urgent care, where I was told it wasnt even appropriate for a four month old to be prescribed amoxicillin, and she did not even have an ear infection. Ultimately we ended up at the emergency room because my daughter still would not eat and had to be put on a new reflux medication. All the while I had been calling the pediatrician explaining what was going on and was told to call back if symptoms persisted. I am extremely upset that her tongue and lip ties went unnoticed when I specifically asked about them - I would also expect a lactation consultant to be able to recognize them. Im also extremely upset that she was prescribed amoxicillin and I was told to keep giving it to her despite the fact that she was not eating. Im also upset because I have contacted suburban pediatrics since then as we switched practices and I left a message stating how upset I was regarding Stephanies lack of recognition of my daughters tongue tie and poor handling of her reflux, and did not hear anything back.

I have some inside information on this place because I used to work there. It really is tragic because the doctors they have really are good (some of them) and are able to provide great care. That being said, I can tell you that the overall environment of the office is absolutely despicable. The management of the office is the main problem, the office manager Kathy and a nurse manager named Pat. I truly believe that they are mentally ill because of the things that they say and do. I dont think that patients are their number one concern because they have absolutely no guilt about throwing patients under the bus in order to save a few bucks, or to reinforce their ridiculous rules just to meet a narcissistic need they have to be in control. You wont find any continuity of care really because the office staff is changing by the week (literally). Everyone is always new and in process of training until they cant take it anymore and they leave or get fired for some trivial reason and the cycle starts all over again. But this office likes to keep it this way. The main doctor that is there Dr Bob Laudico is a megalomaniac who treats everyone like crap, including his first wife which is why she left him. He runs that place like he is the king of a palace, and in truth thats exactly what he is. He also was a captain in the military before joining subs peds and taking over as the head partner so he tends to have a lot of sexism and homophobia left over from those days. The original doctors that started the practice are great, but they dont stand up stop all the negative changes that have been going on because they just want to collect a pay check and retire a few years and probably dont have it in them to stop the coup d ate. Everyone there is VERY good at pretending to be concerned or caring, until you turn your back. So if you have complaints you will most likely get a call from Pat or Kathy who will pretend to really care about your complaint and will tell you they will work hard to remedy the problem, but they wont. Things there are just the way they want them, they arent going to change if Christ himself asked. And its sad because it really could be a great office, and has some great patients but until the management changes......its going to remain as bad as it is. So read the other reviews below this one and you will see that this is not the tirade of just one angry person, there are many. And they are all true. Many good support staff, nurses and even providers (MDs,NPs, PAs) have all left this place because of the disastrous environment. Do yourself and your child a favor. If you are looking for a pediatrician, go somewhere else....ANYWHERE else!!!

When I was at Suburban Pediatrics in Sep & Oct. 2009, the carpet in the waiting room had several black spots all over. The upholstery on the seats was threadbare and stained. My first thought was that I am glad I do not have a toddler with busy hands because I would not be able to let my child touch the carpet or the upholstery. The lights in the waiting room are dim, adding to the dingy affect. Service-wise, my child was rescheduled to two hours later because we were 15 minutes late to a well-visit check up (listen to lungs/heart look at ears and eyes and move on). When I called my childs school to tell them my child would miss most of his school day because we were 15 minutes late to the doctor, the school receptionist couldnt believe it. When I related the story to the school nurse, she nodded knowingly - having heard similar stories about this practice. She was happy to give me a list of other pediatricians in town. In the words of Rascall Flatts, Im moving on! To be fair, I must say that Dr. Pepe is kind to the children and seems highly knowledgeable.
