I had brought my 12 year old dog Chloe here for bloody bowel movements and lethargy. I had never been here before but because my regular vet was closing soon I googled 24hr care vets and this one came up with the best ratings. The minute I brought my little girl here the staff was very attentive and checked me in right away making sure Chloe was seen as soon as she could be. Dr. Jared Coran took on her case and you could tell he really had a love for these animals and knew his stuff very well. Chloe ended up staying the night being treated with aggressive therapy and I was updated along the whole way. Unfortunately, Chloe had passed that morning and when I arrived to say my goodbyes they were nothing but compassionate and caring towards me. My family was on vacation and werent returning until that night so I had asked them to reserve Chloe for my family to say their goodbyes. Understandingly and with no hesitation they complied to my request. Even after Chloes death we had called the front desk to ask if we could know the source of this ITP for closure. Dr. Coran returned my call as soon as her results came in letting us know everything came back negative and this was a primary cause. He was able to explain all of this in a simple understandable manner and continued to apologize for her loss. He continued to let us know he was always available for questions and was just a phone call away. He cared for her and us as if he was following her her whole life and hadnt just met her this one visit. Having 2 dogs for over 15 years, I have never been to a place so organized, attentive, educated, and caring. Knowing Chloe spent her last hours in a place that treated her well helped me so much with my closure and grief. I thank the staff and Dr. Coran for all that they had done and for keeping Chloe comfortable during her last hours. I recommend this facility to all who what the best care for their animals.

Within the past 6 months, I switched to West Hills Animal Hospital, and I have never been so impressed with a veterinarians office in my life. Yes, Im aware that they can be a bit pricey (although honestly not much more than my previous vet), but truly, the care my dogs receive is unparalleled, and in this case, Im 100% getting what I pay for in terms of care. Everyone, from the receptionists to the doctors, are incredibly compassionate and understanding. I used to leave my previous vet wondering if they missed something - which they did, several times. Ive NEVER had this thought cross my mind since we switched to WH. My older dog is so scared, and the nurses and doctors realize this - they sit on the floor to examine him so he feels more comfortable. The vets ALL know whats going on with my dog, even the ones who did not see him, and they are all wonderful, although I love Dr. Coren the most. We had x-rays done the other - he called me within an hour with the results and spoke with me for another half an hour discussing options (sadly, my dog was diagnosed with hip dysplasia). Hes having some type of vestibular episodes, and I was on the phone with them at 11:30pm last night (crying, mind you), and the COULD NOT have been more kind. Ive also never felt as if they are trying to push me into unnecessary procedures or care - in fact, Dr. Coren is encouraging me to take the medical route in managing the hip dysplasia (as opposed to surgical) until we use up all of our options. I could go on and on, but if you are looking for a compassionate, understanding and truly knowledgeable office, this is the place to go. (Disclaimer: I was not paid for this review LOL, and I dont know any of these doctors personally - this is based on my own personal experience!). Im so happy I made the decision to switch to West Hills.

Just getting back home at 4am. The entire staff here is absolutely fantastic! Our elderly 15 y.o. Shepherd Mix girl got herself into a scrap with another dog and had very distressing wounds, lacerations and bruising. Typically we drive into Animal Medical Center in NYC for more serious care but this was too worrisome for all of that travel. I rushed home on the train, looking at reviews of all of the various emergency hospitals and - baring one very bizarre review - this place had all five stars. So I scooped her up and brought her in - and I am SO HAPPY that I did! These folks lived up to the reviews and then some! Every single other emergency vet that I have been to on Long Island has been money-grubbing, insensitive, often unprofessional, and terrifyingly incompetent in their knowledge and service! Yet, from the moment that I pulled into the parking lot Chelsea - our old girl - was treated with great respect and tremendous compassion by the entire staff. They didnt sit there and wait for the bill to be paid before they treated her - they started working on her immediately after they assessed her needs and acquired my consent. They did not add on unnecessary procedures, treatments, or medications. They listened to and respected my concerns and preferences completely. They are also very compassionate with people too! They worked with my budget so that our Chelsea could receive the necessarily thorough care and treatment that her condition demanded, but without breaking the bank. What a treasure of a find!!! And less than 30 minutes away. If it wasnt for this fantastic place I dont know what I would have done.

Our beagle, Patty boy, had severe back pain on Saturday. We rushed him to the place where we adopted him, North Shore Animal League. The doctor we saw there was very cold and had no compassion at all. We had exrays and blood work done but were not comfortable at all. My husband and I decided we did not like the care there and wanted to have a second opinion. I asked a friend who has several dogs where she brings her pets, she recommended West Hills Animal Hospital. On Sunday, I called and spoke to Lisa at the front desk. Lisa was friendly, caring and assured me that the Vet Patty boy would be seeing was a terrific doctor even though it was not the one my friend recommended. When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted at the front desk. The vets assistant came out to take us in, I cant believe I cannot remember her name, I liked her so much, she was terrific. She was kind, gentle, compassionate and loved Patty boy immediately. We knew we were in good hands. When Dr. Sikalas walked in, again I knew this was the right place to be. I cannot say enough nice things about this woman, She was smart, kind, compassionate, explained herself clearly...the best. When she examined my pet and hit a spot that made he scream, I started to cry. Dr. Sikalas looked at me with tears in her eyes and said I wish I could hug you. I was so touched by her compassion. We received incredible care, the place was immaculate, the prices were very reasonable, there is no need to ever go any where else. If you love your pet and want to make sure you and him are treated properly, this is the place for you.
