I recognized my 16 year old cat was not herself. My usual vet had nothing I could manage over the next few days so we went to Community Veterinary Medicine. Sadly the vet, who was on vacation had a fill-in who was in a word, dreadful. When I heard him tell a previous patient "be sure to take a man with you" my eyebrows just about shot off of my face. The tech said, "I know what you heard but its not like that" and by way of apology told me the first of many times that the practicing vet was on vacation. The vet (Dr Herbert Salm) was pressed for time and took brief notes: "anemic, dehydrated, old cat" ("anemic" because I told him...) He then turned the kennel upside down to dump Inka on the table. I told him "be careful" Took her temperature so roughly, jamming the thermometer into her so that she cried. Shaved her neck by half to draw blood. (Insisted on leaving the room with her to do that, based on my responses) Did not physically examine her (as in: check her eyes, open her mouth to look at teeth and gums) Then informed me he could do nothing because he had no bloodwork in front of him. (Had he done any of those things, he might have had a clue as to some of her problems) He wouldnt even clip her nails! And I could make another appointment. Yes, with my usual vet. Still wasnt ok w how my cat was after getting some food into her, so we went off to an emergency room. The cat that Dr Salm barely examined narrowly avoided being hospitalized. Shes pretty sick. When I called to alert the office there what occurred, the tech said the exact right thing which is to apologize and say that he hoped it did not reflect badly on the practice. Oh, but it does. The vet left Dr Salm in charge of her practice, presumably not knowing much about him. I found him to be crude, sexist and brusque. And should not be handling animals, at all. He treated them like product. Not Recommended At All. ***update*** After not hearing a word from the vet and/or supervisor for a month, I walked over in person to pursue a refund. After waiting 1/2 hr, I was told because I "saw the vet"-- who did nothing, the charges and fees stand. On top of the emergency room expenses incurred because the vet did nada. So what this tells me is this is a take-the-money-and-run operation. Pet owners of Hamilton Heights, you have been warned.

These people are dishonest and cannot be trusted. They will give you a quote for a service and end up charging you twice what they said. Here, it is more about them making money off of you and less about taking care of your pet. Do not go here, save yourself from the stress and outrage. These people are untrustworthy. *This office initially gave me a quote of $370 for all the services plus an additional $35 for each tooth that needed to be extracted. No teeth were extracted however, I ended up being charged $500. This additional difference includes a "biohazard medical waste fee" and consultation that I was not present for nor authorized. How is it that I can drop my dog off for a procedure expecting to pay for the services originally planned for and end up being charged for extraneous services that I did not authorize and for all I know were not even administered as I (the owner) was not there. How do you "consult" with a dog if the owner is not there. How will the dog bring forth any concerns himself? My point is, you gave me your word on a price and did not honor your word. You are not sorry. You were rude and unprofessional in person when I tried to dispute the price and now want to portray otherwise so you can keep deceiving future clients. I never spoke to you about my dog doing great. Also, my dog had not been to THIS vets office in two years because I was taking him elsewhere. This business is completely deceitful and unethical. You took advantage of my poor dogs situation which is horrific considering that you are people who "care" for animals. I hope the extra money you got out of me goes to great lengths because I will never be coming back here again.

Definitely one of the best Veterinary Doctor in New York City! Dr. Krieger is a skillful practitioner, extremely knowledgeable and professional. Gentle and patient with the animals she is also very thorough in her examination and cautious in forming a diagnosis. This sweet and excellent Doctor got my Liam back on his feet without recurring to needless and costly tests like at the Inwood Clinic I had the misventure to entrust Liam health prior to be directed to this practice. Thank you Dr. Krieger!

Incredibly disappointed and frustrated. I took my dog for a routine thing - expressing his anal glands - which is usually done at most vet offices for $20-30. The vet tech was unable to do, so I ended up getting charged for a full vet visit ($50). Additionally she charged me for $60 worth of medicine that my dog did not need. So the total bill was over $100!! For something that should have cost $20. I am beyond frustrated and wish I never went. The staff was very nice, the only consolation.

My 3 month puppy male Chihuahua needed to be fixed. The service outstanding my puppy was running around the next day with no complications, the Doctor has a great hand, the incision clean and barely noticeable in days. I love my puppy, I would not dare take my baby Apollo Anywhere else. Dr Krieger is amazing, and her staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

I took two feral kittens here a year ago and the charge was around $150 for both. Took 2 more there today and they charged almost $500 for the same thing!!! And that was after making me wait 45 minutes when I was there on time for my appointment. I havent been so frustrated and disappointed in a long time. I will be finding a new vet!!!!

Loved this vet experience! Dr. Krieger and her assistants are kind and wonderful! I took both of my kittens there for their initial shots and checkups and later brought them back for their neutering. So glad I discovered Community Veterinarian! Also extremely reasonable compared to other New York City vets Ive been to. THANKS!
