This animal hospital is not very honest or hospitable when dealing with cats. Before visiting JVH I called inquiring about an approximate cost on having my Bengal cat neutered and was given a range of $250-$400 which seemed in line with other hospitals. I stopped up and talked to the vet in person about the procedure and cost then made the appointment. When dropping my cat off the next day I was told the range would NOW be $300-$500.. ok so be it.. But when picking up my pet the day after that I was slapped with a $650.oo bill and when I asked why the price changed I was told "this is how it works in medicine". I was upset and proceeded to further ask why and how and the response I got from an annoyed vet who continuously cut me off was "this is not unusual". My response to that is why even bother giving a high and low side price range when it doesnt matter because you are in medicine. She then stated " I could have told you between $250-$900 would that have made you feel better".. "YES" I would have felt better and at that point I would had the option as a consumer to LEAVE or deal with a more upfront animal hospital. So because you work in MEDICINE and the work is done you are allowed to disregard general business practices and customer service? ALSO Upon arriving I noticed a very small area in the back where they stated to keep cats while waiting for procedures. This area was directly next to (as in the cages touched) other cages that housed large dogs. When I asked if there was a different room or area where cats are kept away from barking dogs overnight the vet told me yes which was a lie because when I asked the same question to a different employee the next day I was told no.

All three of my dogs love Dr. Colleen Scoda. Even my neurotic Cocker Spaniel who is normally TERRIFIED of everyone and everything. He literally LEAPS into her arms when he sees her and is strangely tolerant of any poking and prodding that might need to be done. If you need any recommendation, take it from him! I have also learned to trust her. She is very thorough and does her due diligence. On one "emergency" visit, she recommended some tests that I thought were just overkill. I had googled my dogs symptoms, and thought I had a pretty good idea that all he needed were some basic meds and wed be on our way. But I agreed anyway and it turned out NOT to be what I first thought and the tests led us to what was actually a pretty tricky diagnosis. Dr Scoda spent a great deal of time researching and calling colleagues she trusted. Her follow up with me was great and I could tell she actually CARED about my dog! I didnt get out of there cheap... (In fairness Ive never gotten a small bill at any veterinary practice Ive gone to.) But I felt that everything we did was medically necessary. In fact, I will say that Dr Scoda did try to keep my budget in mind when making recommendations. Bottom line: I trust her. My dogs love her. And I recommend her to everyone I know.

Professional and compassionate. The vets took the time to discuss options, and were not pushy about getting more services than my cat required or could use. A cat with a terminal condition, they could have overstated the odds of her pulling out of her nosedive and sold me a lot of services that would be painful to her and not stand any chance of helping her. [Her blood test results and X-ray showed acute myeloma with liver failure - no chance of recovery, a fatal condition in humans, cats, and dogs alike.] I got a review opinion from another vet at their practice as well, all without charge. They seem to really care about the animal and not just how much they can milk their guardians for while doing painful and unnecessary procedures on the poor little things. I also have had their euthanasia method explained to me clearly and find it to be much more compassionate than other vets use. (Not that there are not other good vets in my area, I am sure there are. Just this one is now a known quantity to me and from now on, all my cats are going there.) When the time comes and I have decided my cat is not getting any appreciable joy from life anymore, I will have her put down here.

My wife and I used to really love this place. The vet we saw (Dr. Scoda) was amazing with our cats and super attentive. The techs and front desk staff are also very helpful. But things have changed recently. Dr. Scoda left without notification to her patients, or at least we were never told or notified of the change. This leave Dr. Bryce as the only vet and while he is okay, I feel he is more concerned with maintaining the schedule than really treating your pets. I took my cat in last week because she has been sneezing non-stop for days and he didnt even take her temperature or really give her a real look over. Just prescribed some antibiotics. I was in and out in literally 10 minutes, not to mention waiting 10-15 minutes past my schedules appointment time to be seen. The whole experience just felt like my concerns werent heard and my animal was not treated. It just seems like they had no plan set in place for when Dr. Scoda left and while Dr. Bryce may be loved by some, he has always missed the mark when we have seen him. All in all, our recent interactions with both the staff and Dr. Bryce have turned us off to this place and we are actively looking for a new option.

My husband and I have been taking our furkids here for many years. I happened to find Dr. Colleen Scoda on a Google search and how blessed we are that we did. Our chow chow Brandy was not fond of people but she sure didnt mind Dr. Scoda and the techs at JVH. They were so good to her and even when she became aggressive a few times they never muzzled her - they worked to calm her down until she was comfortable again. When she started to decline Dr. Scoda took the time to talk to us about her end of life options and when the time would be right. When we made the decision to let her go Dr. Scoda and John (the tech) came to our home to perform the euthanasia so that Brandy could be comfortable. We now have a new furkid Seamus who LOVES going to JVH to see everyone. Awesome service + reasonable prices = peace of mind that my furkids are well taken care of. I tell everyone I can about JVH.

Not dependable, terrible. Misdiagnosed one of my cats, and had me come in on mulitple different occasions for "treatment" even I could have thought of such as change food and bowls. Ran no tests until she stopped eating and drinking for them to do anything about it. Not to mention, never called back with results and lied about waving "office follow up fee". Finally I went in the get an estimate on a surgery and they never ever called back!! Finally left this place, never have I been so unhappy. Very unprofessional.
