We have been going here for years, the staff is very nice, but if your dog is sick... take them to another vet. My dog was coughing and her nose was runny, we took her here and the doctor examined her and took her temperature. He said she had a fever, but it was because we put a sweater on her. (first time Ive heard that excuse to having a fever) Our dog was coughing, sniffling, and had a fever BUT he disregarded everything and told us she just had allergies. Didt even consider doing blood work. Our dog was getting worse so we took her to another vet, they told us she had walking pneumonia. Which we left untreated for a week due to sunnysides vets advice. Our dog has been on 4 different antibiotics since and is still struggling to breathe. I understand that misdiagnosis happen, but to have the vet completely disregard my dogs fever and disregard giving her any medicine that would of helped.. (even for allergies or a cold) is not acceptable. Every pet owner should have a vet who cares about their pet.

I cant say enough about this wonderful place. Dont let the small size and outdated decor fool you. They are wonderful people through and through. Every member of the staff has been nothing but friendly and polite to me every time, and some have even shared my pain when my beloved mastiff was put down (inoperable cancer). They were always available and eager to keep her comfortable at the end and never gouged me for it like other places would have. Ive lived in different states and used different local vets and this is my favorite now. They dont overcharge, the vet is competent and caring and the staff obviously love what they do. I always recommend them to others. Ive also used their boarding services and couldnt be happier. My dog actually gets excited to go there!

He caused our cat to die. Our cat was acting lethargic. We brought her in and left her there the whole day. I told the vet that her tongue was white (low blood count). Dr. finally got to her and said she just had fleas, gave her a flea bath, said shed be fine and sent her home. My cat died less than six hours later. It was a horrific death. My children are forever traumatized, as am I. They still required us to pay the bill, too, even though they only gave her a flea bath...and failed to give her the transfusion she needed. $175 for "crating my cat" and giving her a flea bath. Do not use this vet. Please. Find a different vet, I implore you. We even considered standing outside the practice with signs, but just couldnt manage the time.

I first took in my dog over 2 years ago. This being my first dog, I was very nervous. I had called around to all the vets I could in Schenectady. Sunnyside was the cheapest and also got me in before anyone else could. All of the staff including the doctor was more than nice any time I call or go in for an appt. I ended up going to Banfield pet hospital (petmart) because of this pet "insurance" I had heard about. The worst mistake I couldve done. It sounded good but wasnt worth the money so I came back to Sunnyside and am glad I did! I would recommend Sunnyside to anyone.

the only vet around that was open on a satarday the staff and the vet were so nice i brought my dog to them because she had diarea for about 4 days then sat. morning she had blood in her stool. I was concerned and this was the only place i could find that was open and i dont regret going the staff was so friendly and so was the vet they looked at her and gave me by best options they didnt just try to get me to spend a ton of money like a previous vet had done to me. i am now going to discontinue all my services at my old vet clinic and go to this one exclusively!

I have been going here for over 10 years. The staff and doctor are nice and friendly. Prices are reasonable, but understand vets are expensive anywhere you go. Owning an animal is not cheap, especially if you have one that develops health issues. I feel the Dr is very knowledgeable however, just like with your own Primary care doctor, ask questions, ask about tests that can be done, do research. If something doesnt feel right, speak up. That said, I trust the doctor and wouldnt go somewhere else unless he retired.

I brought my cat there because she was sick...she was not eating or drinking. I had to force her to do both. They knew she was dehydrated and under weight but just took blood work.....and my money and told me to go home wait for the blood work results. In less then 48 , hours later my cat had passed away. They let me leave there without any impression she was that she was that close to dying. Please I beg of you if you love your animals dont bring them there. All I got was a high bill and a deadly experience!!!!!!!

We have had several animals - dogs and cats. We have been going to Dr. Hornfeck for over 30 yrs. Never had a problem. All our animals lived to ripe old ages and died of natural causes. Our oldest animal was 17 yrs old, when he died. Our current dog is 16 yrs old and has been treated by Dr. Hornfeck since he was a puppy. So, I have no complaints. They must have been doing something right!

Brought my dog for constipation. The vet prescribed pepto-bismol and I stupidly followed his advice. Then I find out that the medication WORSENS constipation. My dog is not doing well and I will have to take him to the emergency clinic. DO NOT GO THERE!!! This vet is INCOMPETENT and will kill your dog.

Were on our fourth dog here. Dr Hornfeck and his staff are helpful and we have boarded dogs here when we go on vacation. They recently helped with my fifteen year old puppy recommending Nassau Vet to get his teeth pulled.
