If you are even considering LASIK, regardless of how intimidating it may seem, I highly suggest at least speaking to Dr. Savetsky. Prior to my consultation, I was so nervous about the thought of getting LASIK that I felt physically ill leading up to the appointment. The kindness, competence, and confidence of everyone at the Smithtown office really helped to put my fears at ease, and I scheduled my operation that day. Each and every person I met was so incredibly supportive and seemed to genuinely care about my experience and results. Everyone from Dr. Savetsky himself, to the assistants, to the surgical coordinators answered my questions with a smile on their face and helped to alleviate all of my concerns. When it comes to medical procedures, I am a nervous wreck and have been known to faint from time to time. So when I say that the procedure itself was quick and painless, know that thats coming from someone with a low threshold for tolerating this kind of thing. The hardest part of the operation itself was coping with the knowledge of what was happening, but I was given a couple of stress balls that I squeezed the living daylight out of, there was nice music playing in the background, I was kept apprised of how much longer each step would take, which really helped me keep my cool as each step was incredibly brief. As for the results... Ive been recommending LASIK to everyone. Imagine laying down to watch TV without that classic case of struggling to find a position where your glasses arent digging into your head then realizing you actually bent your frames out of shape in the process so youll be looking absurdly crooked until you get around to getting them adjusted. There are so many little things in my life that are much easier and more comfortable now that I hadnt even considered, and my vision is actually better than it was with glasses or contacts. I know its a long review, but if youre on the fence, just do it. Youll be well taken care of here and the results are more than worth it.

Hi everyone, I am Jill the winner of the Lasik Giveaway contest. I never thought I would really have Lasik done because I was way to scared to do it. Now I won it and realized "holy crap" I have to do this now! I was terrified to even go for my first initial appointment, but my husband made me go. So my first thanks is to Leo. After two exam appointments, the day came and I was sickly afraid. Believe me I shared my fear with EVERYONE at North Shore Eye Care. There was true sincerity from the staff and they took their time just listening and talking with me with no pressure at all. My next thanks goes to Liz who made me feel so much better. The moment came when I was ready (thanks to all the support) and we went into the surgery room. Next I thank Dana who literally held my hand through the procedure, she was my calm! Everyone in that room was awesome, so thank you Tommy, Joanna and Jackie. You guys are fantastic at what you do! Most of all, of course, is Dr. Martin...you are wonderful, and you made me feel like I knew you forever and that you understood me and it gave me 100% trust and faith in you and your practice. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart. So...now the surgery. I feel so ridiculous about how scared I was because it was so simple. During most of it, I was talking with Dr. Martin. The next thing I knew he was doing my other eye. It was that quick, painless and most of all such a comfortable setting with awesome people. If I can say anything to anyone considering Lasik...do it, and definitely let Dr. Martin do it. Its the right place and people to have such a life changing event done with. They care about you. I swear to you, if I did it, anyone can do it! And i promise that after you get it done, youll be telling everyone you know to do it too!!! Thank you again North Shore Eye Care! Its amazing!!!

I feel misled at best, possibly scammed, after coming here. I called to make an appointment for my wife, telling them that she wanted to change her contact lenses due to discomfort. They said sure, make an appointment and come in. Day of, we told the assistant who did the initial check the same thing - need new lenses due to discomfort. Sure, she said, let me dilate your eyes (after doing a terrible job checking her existing prescription, giving up despite it being clear that my wife still could not read the letters and was suffering double vision) and you can go wait for the doctor. An hour later, we finally see the doctor (for all of 2 minutes) and he says "Oh, we dont change contact prescriptions here, you need to go to another place. But your eyes are dilated, so dont go today." He even said he is an eye surgeon who does LASIK, not regular prescriptions... so WHY did they set us up with an appointment with him?! Didnt do a new prescription, didnt check her eyes. 2 hours of my life gone for NOTHING, and on my wifes one weekday off we cant actually fix the problem because they stupidly dilated her eyes even though any person working there should be aware of whether they do contact lenses or not. They deserve zero stars and if they charge us anything I intend to dispute it. We received no medical services from this office. Edit: I received a call from both the office administrator and the Doctor we saw and both were considerate in resolving this situation. I no longer feel scammed and have adjusted my score to reflect this, but I do still feel that it was inappropriate for them to make an appointment with us in the first place when I was clear about exactly what we were looking for and they should have been well aware that this was not a service they offered.

I had considered LASIK for sometime, and I knew it was not something I could rush in to. So after getting more comfortable with the idea, I started to do some exhaustive research. I looked into all of the major offices on Long Island. Some were better than others, yet none had the reputation, convenience, and quality that North Shore had. Before I signed on the dotted line, they did exhaustive tests to make sure I was a good candidate, and really made me fully aware of the procedure in detail. By the time it got to the day of the surgery, I felt so comfortable and was excited! Dr. Mauro did my surgery, and I cant give him enough praise. His knowledge and technical proficiency was unmatched. He talked me through exactly what he was doing every step of the way, and before I knew it, about ten or fifteen minutes later, I could see. Truly one of the most unusual and amazing experiences in my life. There are several offices, so it makes it easy for future follow up appointments. Everyone who works there is very friendly, helpful and professional. They also called the night of and checked up and asked how I was doing, which was really unexpected, but very nice. The one complaint, and I suppose this is a good thing in a way, is that the office is always very busy, and sometimes the waiting time is long. That does reinforce that clearly they are doing something right as far as the quality of their doctors, and technology, etc. that patients keep coming back. Yet it does not say much about their scheduling...but a minor complaint in the scheme of things. Would gladly recommend to anyone considering LASIK...its the most incredible thing to be able to wake up and see!
