Went to the ER on 5/2/17 and waited 7 hours to be seen. When I finally was seen, it was by a nurse practitioner named Stacey. I told her what was going on with me, that I had been vomiting since Saturday morning, but only for several hours in the morning. The best way to describe my symptoms was like "morning sickness." I never threw up the contents of my stomach, never experienced diarrhea, no pain or fever. She said that she had never heard of such, but that she was going to go look some things up and she would be right back. She never came back. A few minutes later, the tech came in with discharge papers and a prescription for nausea medication (after the pharmacy had closed, mind you, and then showed me the way out. I was in complete shock at how I was treated. Thankfully, I wasnt experiencing the symptoms while waiting for over 7 hours, but within 2 hours, i was shaking violently and vomiting non-stop. So, I spent an entire day waiting, not just to be SEEN, but to get some answers, and a $75 copay, to go to the ER at North Baldwin Infirmary (also part of the Infirmary Health System), pay an ADDITIONAL $75 copay, and was admitted to the hospital, treated for dehydration and nausea, scanned, scoped, tested, ultrasounds, and diagnosed with H pylori. I was in the hospital for 3 days and was released late yesterday evening. I will be treated for this for the next 3 months, but will live with it the rest of my life, and my family also has to be treated to prevent passing it back to me because I will now always be susceptible to catching it. I wasnt taken seriously, and that could have caused much bigger problems. Additionally, the rooms were very dirty, there was blood on the wall, and the restroom smelled worse than a portable toilet. Not one time did anyone attempt to clean while I was there. I can only say bless the hearts of the others that were mistreated while in my presence. Dont stop at the ER please! A longer, more detailed letter will be sent to skmeo me who has the power and authority to make changes.

A terrible amalgamation of greed & apathy! I went into ER for dizzy spells and feeling like I was going to pass out/seizure while driving. As it turned out, I had a month old, really nasty inner ear infection. When I got to ER, I told the Dr about having water in my ear for 10 hrs a month ago (among other things, just spit-balling ideas of what could be the cause). Before I really got any treatment or diagnosis, they asked me to complete a satisfaction survey (shady way to pump up their numbers?). That was before they forgot about me for 2 hrs when I was supposed to get a CT scan. The Dr never found anything, so I said I would like to be discharged and see my regular Dr. They pushed & pushed to have me stay over-night in a room (to generate more charges). I bent to their whim & stayed. The stay was uneventful until the end. I had a headache and it took the nurse 3 hours to get me some Tylenol. When it came, there was a 3rd pill in the cup. I asked the nurse (Linda) what it was and she said it was to calm my stomach and if I didnt like it she could stab me in the stomach with a 6" needle to administer the drug. I told her I wanted to be discharged immediately after that. That place is pure incompetent evil. They almost killed my dad once. By the way, when I saw my primary Dr and told him about the water in my ear, he immediately looked in my ear and said my eardrum was beet red. Then he saw a huge mass in my inner ear using the CT scan the ER Dr ordered. A few days on antibiotics and I was feeling normal again, with only a $50 copay. After blowing $1000 in Infirmary, I walked out an anxious mess.

THIS IS THE WORST HOSPITAL IN MOBILE...THEY HAD MY 85 YEAR OLD AUNT WHO IS A HEART FAILURE PATIENT WAIT IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM FROM 2:00 PM UNTIL 9:00 PM THAT NIGHT. SHE WAS BROUGHT DOWN FROM THE HEART FAILURE CLINIC UPSTAIRS IN A WHEEL CHAIR AFTER THERE WERE CONCERNS THAT SHE NEEDED TO BE ADMITTED DURING HER SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH THEM. THEY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN HER IN IMMEDIATELY BUT THEY CLAIM THEY DIDNT HAVE A BED. SHE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET SOMEONE IN THE WAITING ROOM TO CALL HER DAUGHTER SO SHE COULD TELL THEM SHE WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM AND HAD NOT EATEN. SHE IS ALSO A DIABETIC!... AFTER HER DAUGHTER CALLED THE ER AND COMPLAINED THAT HER SICK ELDERLY MOTHER HAD BEEN SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR 7 HOURS AFTER BEING BROUGHT DOWN FROM THE HEART FAILURE CLIENT THEY IMMEDIATELY FOUND HER A BED. SHE WAS ADMITTED AND ENDED UP STAYING IN THE HOSPITAL FOR A MONTH. SHE WAS DISCHARGED TODAY WEDNESDAY MAY 13TH. AND AFTERWARDS DISCOVERED SHE DID NOT HAVE HER HEARING AIDE DEVICE AND HER GLASSES THAT SHE WORE EVERY DAY IN THE HOSPITAL. SHE WAS BED RIDDEN THE ENTIRE TIME SHE WAS THERE SO ITS NOT LIKE SHE WALKED AROUND AND LOST THEM. THE GLASSES WERE LAST SEEN ON THE TABLE WHERE THE PUT THE DINNER TRAY LAST THURSDAY MAY THE 7TH AND HER HEARING AIDE WAS ALWAYS IN HER LEFT EAR UNTIL SHE WAS DISCHARGED. IT HAS OBVIOUSLY GOTTEN LOST BY THE STAFF. WE ARE CURRENTLY FOLLOWING UP ON THIS. THE GLASSES WERE JUST PURCHASED AFTER HER LASER EYE SURGERY ABOUT TWO WEEKS BEFORE SHE WAS ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THIS IS SAD HER STUFF IS GONE AND WE ARE VERY UPSET ABOUT IT.

I was really disappointed with the ER. I came in as a pregnant woman who had passed out and bystanders stated I had seizures. Registration and triage was quick but then I waited for three hours to get a room and be seen by a nurse and doctor. The ER wasnt packed but as soon as the nurse saw me they informed me my blood sample taken three hours ago showed very low blood sugar and proceeded to tell me I should eat as this was the most likely cause of my passing out. My concern with this is if my blood work showed low blood sugar why was I not immediately informed? I found it extremely unsafe that I sat for three hours as my blood sugar continued to drop putting myself and my unborn child at risk. In addition, no fetal heart rate was taken until I got a room, 3 hours after arriving. They take a fetal heart rate immediately at urgent care for minor issues like a UTI so I was shocked this was not a priority. Also no one ever checked my pupils or even visually looked at my head which is shocking since I passed out on a concrete floor into a water heater. I was there a total of 6 hours... luckily my fainting/seizures werent terribly serious as I dont have faith this ER triaged and responded appropriately to my symptoms and if my situation had been dire I worry my outcome would not be the same as if I chose elsewhere. Triage staff and registration staff were ok, not friendly or helpful but not mean. Dr and nurses were very kind and attentive but it was the wait prior to seeing them that really concerns me.
