My son has ADHD and delays in the areas of speech and language. The beginning of the exam was fine. However, due to his inattentiveness and anxiety, he was reluctant to lay down in the chair for more than two to three seconds to allow the hygienist to examine his teeth. At that time, Dr. Schreiber suggested using a papoose board to immobilize him in order for the hygienist to perform the exam. I had already said no twice before to the idea, and against my better judgement agreed, in the hopes that he would receive a proper dental examination. Once he was in the papoose board, he became hysterical. Two hygenists were in the room with him. One to do the exam, and another to suction his mouth. Shortly after they began, he started to cough uncontrollably. I expressed concerned by saying I believe hes going to vomit. The hygenists disagreed, only to be proven wrong when my son vomitted while still being restrained. I immediately began to un-restrain him and took him out of the papoose board. After that, Dr. Schreiber returned to the room where my son was traumatized, only to say, "have you asked his pediatrician to sedate him before these appointments". We immediately left and will not return. This is very disappointing. As his parent, I should never have consented to him being restrained. I thought I was doing what was best by attempting to get his teeth cleaned. However, Dr. Schreiber, whom has received advanced instructions in the treatment of special needs patients at Sparks Center at UAB, should have known better. Dr. Schreiber should know how to utilize more appropriate interventions that do not result in a hysterical child that will most likely be traumatized from returning to the dentist for years to come.

Oh YESSSSS SURE there is a fun play area...that is where the appeal stops. The rude receptionists and lack of professionalism & communication, their process(of taking him back w/o us) and then returning my child sobbing uncontrollably was entirely too much(I need to note that when the appt was scheduled we communicated thoroughly to the scheduler of our childs fears of the doctors office). After whatever they did in the back, we were then taken to a small room with no privacy & 1 chair to have the dentist & hygienist tell us of his cavities with no "bedside manner" (which was heartbreaking) & how we should "brush" his teeth (placing him back on the ground and holding him down to demonstrate). We were in compete shock that this was happening. Then the indication that we were not providing our child with the best dental care, broke BOTH OF US to tears. That wasnt far enough when we were told and I quote, "there seems to be no breakthrough" my husband pressed asking exactly what they meant, we were asked if we had spoken to his pediatrician about his behavior...I then had walk out of this "makeshift consultation room". We did consult our pediatrician, his teachers at school, & a new pediatric dentist at childrens in Birmingham. We were promptly assured we were brushing properly & my child was well taken care of, his dental needs were addressed in ONE not multiple visits. This visit took place 1 year ago and it has taken me until now to review this business that claims to be such a child friendly institution. Child friendly...sure as long as you have a child with no fear of a drs office or any dental issues.

Horrible experience ever!!! Where do I start? Well, both of my kids had appointments the same day of course. They were suppose to call, email or text reminding us. My husband called two weeks prior to cancel the kids appointment because we where out of town on business . Once we returned we got a letter in the mail which turned out to be a bill for $70 for an appointment that we didnt missed but rescheduled and apparently the appointment setter forgot to change. Sadly to say when we disputed the no show fees, the staff became rude. This office lost two patients because of this. I would never recommend a dentist that charges his patients no show fees for something his or her staff didnt change in the system. Customer service here is by far the worse

I have three children ages 11 down to 6 and they all love going to the dentist! They are never scared or upset by their visit and actually look forward to the appointments. The atmosphere is very child friendly inside and out - the train car is awesome! The staff is always friendly and have smiles on their faces, which is pretty good since they treat children all day long and that can be rough. I have never had a bad experience or problem. Every procedure and dental finding was explained to me at length after the exam. I never left with questions or worries. I would recommend this practice to anyone with children who need dental care. 5 stars are definitely not enough!

We are new to the area and this seemed like a great place. Too bad the rude staff ruins its "appearance." I waited a month for an appointment, then sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes with 2 toddlers waiting to be seen. After 45 minutes I left. A lady from the office called ME and started ARGUING with me about "how busy the are" and I should of been there early to fill out paperwork. If you want me there early TELL ME. On my email reminder and post card reminder no where on there does it say please come early. I am also very busy and cant waste my time while you get your "processes" in order. Very disappointed.

My 4-year-old was terrified of the whole idea of the dentist but the treatment team was very disarming and helped to put him at ease. He thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the play area. I was supremely impressed with the thoroughness of the teams treatment plan. Within minutes they had a handle on what work needed to be done, how long it would take, and how much my insurance would cover for each procedure.

I took my 2.5 year old here yesterday they wanted all their money up front even with insurance. They told me to fill his cavities they would put him on a medical board that would tie his hands and feet to do the fillings and that I could not go back to be with him. I would never do this to my child. It would make him never to want to go to a dentist again. I was very dissatisfied with their business.

I took my 3 year old twins and my 6 year old all by myself and Dr. Cumbus and his staff made it so easy! They made is a fun experience for all three despite some initial fear from one of my twins. They kept the kids entertained so I could talk to the doctor about their appointments. I even got to read while they had their teeth cleaned. Could not be happier with this practice!

As a child, Dr. Cumbus was my dentist. I recall being nervous at the initial appointment, but the staff were gentle, kind, and welcoming. Now that I have children of my own, Drs. Schreiber and Cumbus are the best choice for us. The kids are excited to come to the dentist and the caboose is a fun feature too!

Wonderful place for kids to go to the dentist and feel comfortable. All the girls are very personable and friendly. I would strongly recommend here to anybody looking for a kids dentist. I will be sad when Nicole gets too old to come here any more.
