We had been reluctant to switch to a vet in Tuscaloosa, and had been making the drive to maintain our old vet for about a year. However, when it came to an emergency on a Sunday night, we were at a loss for what to do. A friend recommended Animal Medical Center, and I called first thing Monday morning and they got us in at 11 AM (they had earlier appointments, but neither me nor my husband could get off work any earlier). They took GREAT care of our sweet dog and got us fixed up with medications and some Bravecto to improve our flea and tick prevention since we live on the river, and our topical just wasnt cutting it. They also gave us a cute little welcome package with treats, a toothbrush, and a koozie, and gave our pup a bandana as well! The doctor also informed us of an issue with our dogs kneecaps that we were previously unaware of, despite taking our dog for physical exams at our old vet every six months for 4 years now. He was very patient with my 1000 questions and was very knowledgable with great suggestions that didnt feel like we were in a sales pitch. We expected to have to pay an arm and a leg for the emergency appointment and medications, but it was a very reasonable price. Needless to say, we are canceling our plan with our old vet, and making the switch to AMC. They are professional and seem like they actually care, which is hard to find! We are so so grateful for their accommodation and care about our precious guy. And trust me, Im hard to please when it comes to taking care of my furry best friend!

We had a great experience at AMC with our beagle mix, Maggie May. She had to have 2 vaccinations and an exam and stayed at Club Mutts for the day. I appreciated that all charges were explained to me well before we committed to anything and the process/procedure for how her day would go was well laid out for us too. The Club Mutts staff gave us a personal tour of the facilities and help to answer any questions that we had as well. As we were walking through the facility, one of the veterinarians (Dr. Collins) even came out to meet us and greeted Maggie personally. On the day of her first visit, she was greeted warmly by the staff and our check-in process was smooth and efficient. Following her exam, Dr. Collins called and left me a very thorough message explaining everything that they checked, how she looked, her temperament during the exam, and her friendly personality towards the staff during the exam. And of course, we absolutely LOVED being able to see photos of Maggie playing at Club Mutts during the day! The biggest "thumbs up" for me is that, when I dropped her off this morning for her 2nd visit to Club Mutts, she went back willingly with no hesitation. For a beagle with separation anxiety, that was a sure way to know that she loves it at Club Mutts! Thank you for taking such great care of Maggie May! We will be back often!

Yesterday, I had to do one of the worst things a pet lover can do. I had to take my 83 year old Mothers friend and companion of 15 years (Arthur her Shitzu) in to cross the rainbow bridge. I have had to do this several times in my life, but never have I been treated with more respect compassion and consideration than we received from the group of people at Canant Hospital. Five years ago, I had to take one of my best friends, Otis, in to cross the Bridge. I used a DIFFERENT vet at that time. They came in said sorry, gave Otis the shot, and walked away. They came back in about 10 mins and Otis was still with us. They had to do it twice! The hugs and support that I received while having to do this with Arthur was wonderful. It just went to show me that you sincerely understand this is just as serious to us who love our pets as any other member of the family. It also goes to show how much you care about the animals that you treat as well as their owners. The footprint that you made for us was really sweet. Mother has lost so much in the last three years. You have no idea how much she appreciated your kindness and thoughtfulness.. Brandi, Dr. Bronold and all the Staff. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. J Peake

The doctors and staff are always helpful, educated, are current with the latest medicines, technology, and treatment plans, they spend the time with us, the animal parents, as long as needed to explain treatment options taking into consideration the costs, and we never feel rushed out the door. The staff and doctors truly CARE about animals and their well beings and the people that come through their doors that love animals. Weve had to put 2 of our elderly dogs out of their pain and they were so patient and kind to us. There are no words for the kindness and compassion. My young, 2 year old dog needed eye surgery and she got expert, skilled surgery with 2 doctors working together to make her perfect and fixed the problem! I could go on. Theres also Club Mutts which we havent used yet . . . but the dogs I see come from there dont want to leave the office!!!! That speaks volumes. The vets and their staff go way above and beyond in caring for our precious pets (children). To add to all of this, theres usually no wait time for scheduled appointments. I can say without reservation, I trust AMC with all my animals. Thank you AMC so very much for all you do and what you will continue to do!!!!

Ive been taking my pit bull, Roxy, to Canant since September of 2009. My initial visit with them was very traumatic due to Roxy having hook worms. My husband at the time had just been in a near fatal motorcycle accident and was in a coma. I almost lost him and thought I was about to lose our new puppy too! The staff at Canant was very helpful explaining what all was wrong with Roxy. They were able to provide a way for me to make payments for her treatment which included blood transfusion from another pit bull and staying at the vet for several days to build up her strength again. When I got her home, they called to check on her. Every time I had to take her for shots, the staff treated her like she was their only client. Even though she is almost 4 now, they still treat her the same way they did when she was a puppy. I have referred several of my friends to Canant after them having bad experiences with other vets in town. I just got another pit bull and he goes to Canant also. I will not take my pups anywhere else! I love how the staff treat us and are always willing to help out or answer any questions I may have. Thanks guys!

I took my cat to be groomed at Canant. I was told over the phone that my cat must be current on his vaccinations, but not that I would be required to pay for an exam before the vaccinations could be given. I was also not told that my cat would be required to take a flea pill upon arriving, though he was already on flea prevention medicine. The front desk tried to pressure me into getting my cat several unnecessary and costly vaccinations, though my regular vet never mentioned them as a need. (Keep in mind, I was only here for a grooming session). I was told to get to the office early to fill out paperwork, but still ended up waiting 45 minutes before the staff took my cat back. Then, when the groomer called me to ask for my instruction for the grooming, basically told me that no matter what I wanted him to look like, he could only use one blade on cats. I got him back that afternoon and he was almost completely shaven, except his face and tail. Plus, he was nicked in a few places even though he was under anthesia the whole time he was being groomed. I will not be taking my cat back to Canant.
