Just had a horrible experience here.. was told I could get signed up for the wellness puppy plan..i signed the paper and they took my puppy in the back did her blood work and the lady came in and told us my puppy doesnt qualify for the wellness plan because she is 7 or 8 months old and not 6 months... so my puppy went through that whole scary experience for nothing... all we wanted to do was get our dog fixed and be able to afford it.. we didnt get the results of her blood test so we dont know if she is OK or not... honestly I dont understand what happen..... Im just a person trying to give my puppy the best care I can find.. I had hoped that this place was worthy of that and they basically kicked us to the curb... I cant afford 610 to get her fixed today because I only planned for the wellness plan... I would also like to point out that no where on the brochure does it give ages to the plans or anything like that. I will not recommended this place.. they just left us hanging and all we are trying to do is take good responsible care of our puppy.. and she deserved better... I will make sure to let all my friends and family know of the care we did not receive here... I would also like to point out that no where on their website does it give age ranges.. all it says is to call in and that is what I did.. I told the receptionist that she was 7-8 months old... and never heard a word about it only being for 6 month old puppies... if that were the case why would I take the time to bring her jn... a puppy is birth - a year.. not 6 months old Amanda Christensen

My dog is my child - I only want the best vet for her. I had been to 2 other vets in the area, but due to uncompassionate staff and vets that seemed to run in and run out - we deserve better. I really liked the Islands office, so I thought that would be a good sign. Immediately, the true mission of this place jumped out. I was there to have a small growth removed from my dogs eyelid, I was promised that it wouldnt grow back.... 1. It grew back..almost immediately. 2. While I was meeting w/ the vet, some less-than-polite vet tech kept coming in and out of our room and discussed pricing for this and that.. Couldnt this wait until after our meeting w/ the vet. Well, needless to say, they padded the bill ($350) for this minor "surgery".. they insisted that I purchase eye ointment to help the 1/16" area.. But when I got home, I realized they gave and charged me for 2 tubes of this medicine at $50 per tube. I used the product for 4 days and used maybe 1/10th of 1 tube. Why did they think I would need 2 tubes??? I didnt have a fleet of Mastiffs - I had a small springer. Why sell me 2 tubes without my knowledge? I sent it back and asked for them to mail me a credit or check (I sent it with tracking so I know it got there), but never heard anything. Well - with this bill padding and the terrible attitudes of their staff, I will never go back! And thats ashame as the doc seemed decent and caring - but their staff and bill padding rubbed me the wrong way!

I used Islands for years, Dr. Jaffe was the only vet to touch my dogs until my male came down with diabetes. He saw Dr. Jaffe and she diagnosed him, we set a care plan in place and she would write a 3 month prescription and we agreed to have him checked every 3 months for a set fee, which we were fine with until we took him in for the followup and the front desk didnt want to meet the arrangements and wanted to charge much more and would not write his insulin prescription until we did what they asked. Note that there were no medical reasons why this should have happened, the first routine exams were normal and he had no changes and no reason for concern. After all this trouble with them we find that you can purchase insulin over the counter at the Walmart pharmacy with no prescription needed!!! He is doing fine. Just recently our other dog has had her second set of seizures, so after an emergency visit to the hospital over the weekend we called to make an appointment with Dr Jaffe and they REFUSED to treat her because we were dissatisfied with what happened with our male!! What kind of customer service is this??? Dr Jaffe has always been good with our pets, but the way this place is run is ridiculous! How can they possibly care about the animals if they treat the owners like this??

The team at Island Animal Clinic are fantastic! I recently adopted two new dogs from the pound and was surprised when my current vet declined to perform a complimentary evaluation on my new babies. I had been with my current vet for a little over a year and asked specifically that they make an exception as I am a current customer and they would ultimately be caring for my two new pups. They once again declined and I am glad they did. After searching for a vet near me who gives complimentary first exams to pets adopted from Maricopa Animal Control I found Islands Animal clinic. My experience from start to finish was exceptional. From the moment you walk in the door you feel like family. The facilities are cute and unique not like any traditional veterinarian office I have ever seen. The front office staff are warm and inviting, the Vet Tec’s are friendly and knowledgeable and Dr. Jaffe is super sweet and extremely passionate about her work. Needless to say all my dogs are now going to Islands Animal Clinic. I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in having a personal connection with their vet and people who genuinely care about the wellbeing of your animal.

I found out my dogs rabies shot is not up to date. I was just there and paid around $80 to get my dogs his shots and asked twice if they were sure that was all he needed, and I was told yes both times. I asked once when I made the appointment and once during the visit. Come to find out since I have only been going there for a year and they didnt give him his last rabies they dont track when he is due for another. They do not track a vaccination unless they’ve given the shot prior. What the? So they arent open on the weekends and I already had to take time off from work once this month to get the other shots done. Now they want to charge me for another office visit and I would have to take more time off work. What kind of vet office doesnt check to see if the dog is due for a rabies shot, isnt that dog 101 for a vet office. The person who took my call was not even apologetic for them dropping the ball. Why didn’t they tell me they aren’t tracking all vaccinations? I did ask 2 times after all.

I will never ever ever refer ANYONE to the Veterinarian clinic. I had taken my dog to my regular Vet last Monday and she was taken care of. She was showing great improvement until Saturday morning. My Vet isnt open Saturday so I took her to this Vet as they are. They assumed she possibly had pyometra and told me it was going to cost me $600 to do the testing. After all that was done they said they didnt know and to go to an ER vet. I think its absolute crap that they swindled me out of $600 to just pawn me off somewhere else. Im a young student in school full time and work full time and barely make it by as it is. I told that to the Vet here and she looked at me like I was a peice of crap and said "well thats everyones excuse." REALLY???? WHERE IS THE COMPASSION? The Vet I had was extermely rude and inconsiderate and it breaks my heart that they did this to me, probably countless others and probably more to come. So to whoever reads this.... dont waste your time and money here.
