Ive had a very bad experience with Family Eyecare of Glendale. I was interested in contacts and got fitted for them. Once the trial pair came in I was contacted for an appointment for a first time consultation before I could get them, which I understand. The part that frustrated me the most is the first appointment they had for this was 2 weeks out! This was a problem for me as my old prescription was bad and I was having a hard time seeing. Despite explaining this to them they would not move the appointment up and were VERY UNCARING OF THE SITUATION. I asked to speak with my Doctor about the problem, who never called... After receiving my trial pair of contacts, that I waited close to a month for, they were fitted wrong and another set had to be ordered. This happened another 2 times. Finally I said I was done with trying contacts and wanted to get glasses. After processing my insurance, which is good insurance mind you, the selection of glasses that were covered were limited to 6 options. All other glasses had a very large out of pocket cost. At this point I decided to look elsewhere. After complaining to some of my friends I was directed across the street from Family Eyecare to Midwestern University. They have a optometry program and a glasses showroom there. I kid you not, I found an exact pair of frames I was interested in at Midwestern for over $150 cheaper, and just a better selection of frames and pricing in general. I was able to get my prescription filled there. Bottom line: Family Eyecare of Glendale is expensive, rude, and uncaring. To them is all about making as much money as possible instead of about the customers experience. I would not recommend them to any of my family or friends.

I have been a patient of this office for approximately 9 years and I am consistently impressed with the level of customer satisfaction and professionalism I receive during my annual visit. I see Dr. David Kaplan who never skips a beat to answer my questions and is extremely warm and personable. I never feel rushed by him or the office staff and appreciate the measures they take to ensure I am comfortable and that I understand the agenda for my visit, equipment used, and costs involved. Their dedication to improving the quality of lives truly shines through in the care they provide. The office is equipped with a full service optical store that boasts a hearty and stylish selection of frames. The frame stylists (I dont know their actual title) are friendly and knowledgeable in fit, style, inventory, treatments, and insurance coverage. Usually, I seek a unique frame that takes me some time to pick out. The stylists are not impatient and do not pressure you to make a selection, which I greatly appreciate. During my latest visit, I was unable to find a pair of sunglasses that I liked better than my current pair. The gal assisting me brought out a catalog and suggested a beautiful pair of sunglass frames that they did not have in stock, but could order. Unsure about how they might look on me, I inquired as to what happens if I dont like them. She said they would simply become part of their in-store inventory and I could make another selection, no big deal. This isnt LensCrafters and I wont have my glasses in an hour, but I will happily wait a week because the customer service, expertise, and selection are that great and consistent.

AVOID, BEWARE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I went in with an eye infection, they gave me drops and they did not work. I had to go back and they charged me another Co-pay? What? Then they told me I was spending too much time in front of a computer and I needed some glasses with reflective coating. I brought my frames in and they told me the insurance would cover the lenses and all I would have to pay for was the reflective coating. I go to pick up the glasses today and they tell me it will be $150 dollars. I asked about my insurance and they said " We dont take your materials coverage." I of course asked why? they did not tell me this in the first place? I was livid and I asked "why they had wasted 10 days of my time?" Her response "What about the money we wasted on these lenses, and if your not happy I can just remove them." If you are actually too stupid to check insurance properly, I hope you lose a ton of money was my response. Now I have to start the entire process over. This could be you go somewhere else. This is not their first bad review and all the bad review have to do with incompetent staff. I would have given them negative stars but unfortunately, I cant!

Company is unable to provide a timely service. My girlfriend has been waiting a week for her trail pair of contacts(unable to see) we received a call stating they were in but have to wait another 3 weeks to receive a 30min training course on how to put them in. I have an appointment next week and they are unwilling to fit her in with me or switch out appointment dates. They are not willing to work with their customers to provide comfort. The customer service was absolutely awful when trying to resolve this issue. They made the situation worse and did not attempt to help fix the issue. I highly recommend to go else where, as I work in the customer service industry. If you are looking for a company willing to work with you and be able to provide excellent setvice, this is NOT the place.

When I went to my 10:15 appointment with Dr. Kaplan, it took so long that I was almost late for my 1:00 dentist appointment later that day. I was in the office for over 2 hours for a routine eye checkup. I spent an unnecessary amount of time in the waiting room, considering the fact that nobody else was at the office that day. Overall, I would recommend that if you visit Dr. Kaplan, you should be prepared for a long visit. The staff was very nice, but the doctors seemed very preoccupied with everything except my exam. At one point, I overheard a technician reminding him that he still had patients as I waited for him to come finish my exam. I wont be visiting Dr. Kaplan again- I have better things to do with my time than sit for hours in the waiting room.

Called this place at 4:30 on a Friday due to eye pain and tearing. Couldnt get in because the doctor already went home. Their website said they are open until 5:30. So I asked about their emergency care which is all over their website. Was told they really dont have a doctor on call today, but I could try to call the emergency number and see if anyone responds. So I asked for a Saturday appointment since their website in big bold letters said Now open Saturdays since August 2014 Was told they wouldnt be open at all on Saturday. I guess they dont want business or care if your eye is burning with pain. She told me to go to urgent care or the emergency room. But I want an eye doctor, not a general doctor. Will never call them again.

Dr. Kaplan and the other ODs are excellent. They are meticulous when it comes to eye exams and eye health. I wouldnt go anywhere else for my eye exams. Sadly, that level of competence ends when the eye exam does. The optical staff is COMPLETELY CLUELESS. Weve spent thousands of dollars for glasses and contact lenses for all five members of our family. I would say that the number of times that the order was delivered correctly could be counted on one hand. My daughter has had to go back three times to get her glasses order correct. As a result, I get my eyes examined by Dr. Kaplan, then buy my glasses somewhere else, usually LensCrafters.
