I would give no rating if I could. About a month ago our 2 year old English Mastiff started to experience complications. He had lost his appetite and sometimes when he ate he would cry in pain as if it hurt him to eat or swallow (we checked his teeth and there was no problems), he coughed periodically and we found out he was running a fever as well. The first thing we did is take him to the vet and this was the closest vet to us that had good reviews. When we made the appointment the staff was wonderful and they ran a blood test that came back positive for Valley Fever which they gave us a prescription for right away. But thats not all that was wrong with him and they didnt look any farther to make sure he would be ok. We started him on the meds and it wasnt getting any better. Last Thursday evening when we got home from work he was found panting heavily and drooling profusely that we rushed him to the vet ASAP. They requested to keep him over night and have him on IVs because when they took another blood test his white blood cell count was really high!! Higher than what Valley Fever should cause it to be but they didnt tell us that at that time until after my dog was DEAD!! which means he was fighting something more than just Valley Fever. We trusted them with our dog to then get a call Friday at 7 am that our dog was dead. When we got to the vets office they seemed sincere but they werent even going to do an autopsy or anything to find out what happened and why my dog was dead when they made it seem like he would be okay and it wasn’t as serious as what it really was. After the autopsy they found that not only was his lungs covered in lesions from the valley fever but aside from that the sack around his heart was full of fluid and puss that caused there to be pressure on his heart and for him to have a heart attack. They then explained to me that the high white blood cell count was because he had the Valley Fever AND the heart condition. The heart condition is what was causing him to cry when he ate because it was putting pressure on his esophagus. They knew about his difficulty eating and didnt take it seriously. When we first took our dog to them they should have been up front with us and took it more serious when my dog was showing signs of stress not related to Valley Fever. An xray would have told them that he was having heart problems and a surgery could have been performed or we would have known that our dog’s life was limited so we could make the best of it and keep him comfortable. We will NEVER trust this vet with any of our animals.

This is a note I sent to my daughters friend, Sherry, a dog trainer out in Wittman after my youngest German Shepherd had surgery: I wanted to thank you for recommending Bryan Neidigh to me for Maxs knee surgery. He is an outstanding Vet. He repaired Maxs knee and about a month after Max began to walk on four legs again, he jumped up on my bed. He had never done this before in his life. He was so excited that he began doing it every little while. I had never seen him so happy. He and Maggie race around the wash up the street on a regular basis. The other surgeon that was recommended to me by our regular vet wanted to do some major reconstruction at a major cost. I thought about it but opted against it because I thought Max was too young (he was about a year and half at the time) for such invasive surgery and went to see Neidigh. What a great surprise. His surgery was old school with a double wrap. A third of the cost, and Max is the walking, running proof of good work. Just wanted to say Thanks from Max and I.

We have been taking our dog Winnie to Desert Hills since she was a puppy. The staff is friendly and always calls to check up with you after a procedure. Winnie developed cherry eye in both eyes when she was about 6 months old. We called around to different animal hospitals to check the price of the surgery. A Scottsdale vet quoted us $2,500, another clinic $1,200 and another one $800. These didnt include her getting spayed. We didnt want to put her under twice, since bulldogs have trouble with anesthesia. We went back to Desert Hills and had both eyes fixed and had her spayed. Total cost, $450. Winnie had a small issue with a suture coming loose in her eye, but the doctor took it out and she is doing great. I cant thank the staff enough for bringing Winnie back to normal. We drive from Glendale to DH, because they are just that good. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for high quality and affordable vet services.

Horrible. The receptionist acted like anyone who checked in for an appointment was really a great bother to her. My dog was brought in for grooming. They said they had to give her a wellness check and shots before they could groom her. I agreed since she was due anyway for shots. They returned her on pain meds and she could not walk or get up. I called them to find out what happened and they said that I BROUGHT HERE THERE FOR LAMENESS!! When I said I brought her there for grooming and she was not lame when I dropped her off they said, "MAYBE SHE WAS JUST SORE FROM GROOMING"!!! What kind of grooming makes a dog not be able to stand up. I had to take her back to my original vet (far away) where she was diagnosed with a back injury. They charged my Care Credit card almost 300.00! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR ANIMAL HERE UNSUPERVISED!!! I will never return.

We moved to the Desert Hills area three years ago. Since Desert Hills Animal Clinic was located close by I thought I would give them a try. I am glad I did. I started out with just my mothers dog, but since have started taking my sons two dogs there also. I have compared prices to other vets and groomers and they have always had competitive or better pricing. They are all about the animal, very attentive and caring. Their shot clinics have always made it so easy to keep up with the shots. They now have yappy hour for shots and although I have not used it yet, again I am sure it will be helpful. They have recently remodeled the office and it look very nice and fresh. We love you Dr Gold, Peter, Piper, Pisa

I went to Desert Hills Animal Clinic for a second opinion on some blood test results that came back on my dog. I read really good reviews before selecting this clinic and holy cow, I was blown away by this place! We saw Dr. Sheena Tarrant who spent an ENTIRE HOUR with us, answering questions, reviewing previous records and examining my girl. I never felt rushed in any way and she made sure to answer every question as well as explain every aspect of what was going on and options available for treatment. I was truly blown away by this place! 10 out of 5 stars for me, we have already scheduled her next blood draw and will be making Dr. Tarrant our primary vet. Would recommend in a heartbeat!
