My chihuahua had fallen and broken her leg. We took her to Hunter for care. It is clean and bright and the staff is friendly.... however, the care was deplorable! They did surgery to set her leg and sent her home in a cast. We were taking her back every week to get the incision cleaned and the cast changed. They even supposedly took an x-ray that cost me almost $90 and told me that from the x-ray they could tell that she was healing fine. One week after the x-ray where she was supposedly doing "fine", we missed our appointment to get the bandages changed, so I decided to change them myself. When I cut off her bandage, green, foul smelling matter exploded from her arm onto me. I immediately took my dog to Central Valley Vet and they did an x-ray and told me that her bones were actually disintingrating from the break and she had a SEVERE infection (which was VERY apparent on the x-ray that they showed me). According to the vets at Central Valley, the bones had to have been disintigrating for weeks.... They did an emergency amputation and when they got the results of the tissue samples they sent to the lab, we found out that my dog had three types of bacterial infection that would have killed her if I had not had the arm amputated. I just dont understand how they supposedly took an x-ray one week and "everything is looking great" and one week later the bones were being eaten away by a life threatening infection! Dont let the looks fool you at this clinic. I honestly dont think Hunter even DID an x-ray. When they take your pet back without you, you dont know if they are actually doing what they are charging you for or not!!!!!

I took my dog to this clinic in the past for a routine teeth cleaning. I pay my bills in cash and explained that over the phone when I was setting up the appointment. I told them to give me the highest quote for a teeth cleaning with possible problems such as extractions. They gave me a pretty steep price but I wanted my dogs teeth cleaned soon and the vet I normally took him to was two weeks out. I made the appointment, took him in the next day, and when I went to pick him up they broke it to me I would have to pay $100 over the quoted price. The staff were unable to explain to me why the price was $100 over what I had been quoted over the phone the day before. There were no complications or extractions, they simply demanded the extra money with no explanation to why it was $100 more than I had been told, and they did admit to remembering quoting me differently when I made the appointment. I dont mind paying for a service I received, and if there had been a reason for the extra $100 to be tacked on I would have understood. But like I said, they were not able to give me a reason, the price merely was what it was, when I was told something different. After hitting the bank and paying them the $100 ransom money they finally returned my dog. So I wouldnt really recommend this place unless you like paying extra for no actual reason.

My first visit was great. My second visit wasnt. My first visit I was told my dog needed to rest his back for 2 weeks and was given 2 weeks worth of medications that I was told were inexpensive. After 2 weeks were up, my dog still seemed to be in pain. I took him back. Lauren Adams saw my dog. She chided me for not knowing it would take much longer for his back to heal "Doesnt your back take a long time to heal when YOU hurt yours?" she stated. Because apparently Im a total moron. She refilled his prescriptions and recommended a new one. Even though he was doing ok on the original 2 and apparently just needed more time to heal. When i went to check out I was told the new medication was $67.50 and it was gabapentin. I went back after a week to let them know how unhappy I was I was never told how much or which medication I was being given until I checked out. Lauren was too busy to see me and sent another vet out who did nothing to address my concerns. Just went on about how my dog needed the medication. Thats fine he needs it. But dont ambush me at the check out. Poor customer service on their part. Didnt offer an apology, explanation or a correction for future service.

Took my pup in for her "2nd" set of shots but was given her first set over again. Although I understand why, I was never asked if I wanted to give her the shots again. It was fairly clean, the animals there were rather gross, but I just let my pup run around since I thought she was getting her 2nd set of shots. I seen Mike VanZomeren and he was very rude. I asked him what I thought were valid diet and behavioral questions (I have a husky/malamute and had a husky with similar problems in the past) to which he literally snuffed and talked to me like I was retarded. Whats the point in going to the vet if you cant ask questions? I was pushed out and the front was hesitant to answer my questions, and after I had asked if her first set of shots were given again (looking at the papers after I paid) they said yes, I knew she was getting them and keep her away from other dogs. Seriously? After letting her run around and be by the other dogs? Will not be returning. Was advised against coming here, have read bad reviews in the past but was hopeful to find a vet. Clearly I will continue playing find a good vet.

It was around Friday night at 8 pm and my Pug got into a fight and her eye popped out of the socket. I rushed her to a emergency vet and they told us the eye could not be saved. So the next day was a Saturday and I called my regular vet and they didnt do surgery on the weekends. I called around to all the other Vets in my area and they all said the same thing. I then Called Hunter Animal Hospital and they said they normally didnt do surgery on the weekends either, but knowing the situation she asked the doctor if they could work my Pug in, she said the doctor could do it for me and to bring her in right away. I am so grateful that they did this for me, because the other vets wanted me to wait till Monday. My Pugs eye looks good and they did a great job. The facility was very clean, the staff was very nice. I asked how much some prices were for other services for my other animals and they are very reasonable. I will be bringing all of the animals here from now on. Thank you so much. :-)

Hunter Animal Hospital is amazing. The staff are extremely courteous and friendly, and doctors are amazing. They have treated my two pups for a variety of ailments, from pulled out claws to seizures. Even in the most difficult of times for me, they are open an honest, and accepting of the difficult decisions that I have to make. They have never judged me for what condition my animals come in with, and are more than willing to help if a pup has an accident in the lobby, or is just too lazy to stand. Even after I moved miles away, and was much closer to another vet, I continue to take my pups there. I dont trust anyone else. Ill never forget the kindness they have given to my husky, Shadow, through his most difficult times.
