I visited Dr. Wilken this summer to update my contact prescription. I thought she was great, very thorough and willing to let me try a fair amount of contact lenses before I picked ones that have been great so far. She let me try several cheaper versions of the ones I wear now, which I appreciated—sadly, I liked the expensive ones, but at least now I feel like theyre worth the extra money because I know the difference in comfort levels. She was very neutral in recommending brands, another plus, and there was no hard feelings with their office when I ordered my contacts online to save money. I would like to rate this practice as excellent, as they are close to my house and Dr. Wilken was definitely excellent in her care. However, their receptionists are brusque at best and have been rude whenever I call, which is a huge turn-off. (Yelp reviews show that this is an experience many people have.) Honestly, optometrists are easy to find and though Ive seen many in my life, I wouldnt say that they differed much, so I will feel comfortable finding another optometrist if the rudeness of the receptionists continues when I schedule my next exam. Hopefully theyll improve by then, as it wont be for awhile!

There staff was very helpful. I traveled into Phoenix for work and lost my contacts. They were able to help me get some while I was in town. I really appreciate the time and help they gave.

Dr Gary Shapiro was a great eye doctor, the best of Phoenix and hell always be in our hearts. It will be a difficult task to find another doctor like Dr. Shapiro.
