Bad customer services. Bad quality of care. All front desk clerks are indifferent. They just care when you are about to leave and ask for your credit card to bill. They just gave us a cold shoulder when we walked in. The doctor is a very young lady (new doctor, first time to see her). She is not the one who treat my German Shepherd before (Dr. Abram is my dog doctor). I forget her name. She spent about 10 minutes listening to my wife and I regarding how my German Shepherd acts: limping during gait, avoid weight bearing on his R leg, refuse to sit, decreased level of activities. Obviously it is hip degeneration. She suggested a X ray to see what is going on and then surgery depends on how serious it is. Wait a minute, there are plenty of option treatment plans such as non-invasive pain control, anti-inflammatory management or even exercise treatment. I brought these up before she mentioned what I said. Of course she doesnt know that I am an orthopedic physical therapist. The difference is: I treat human vs she treat animal. But this is ortho 101: non-invasive treatment first. When I brought up the term posterior pelvic tilt in order to keep my dog femoral head embedded in the acetabulum, pain control, inflammatory management... She doesnt have that much to say (she said yes, yes.... ) and then she walked out. After a minute, her assistant returned and gave us an estimation of $980 for her suggested care plan. Bullcrap. Of course we just walked out with pain management only however that costed us $300. She didnt even return to us before we left to tell us what we should expect in the next few day. I believe that she doesnt know because she doesnt do any manual test for my dog. What she did is listening to what I told her. Bad services, bad quality of care. NO customer services training at all. Over charged. Very disappointed.

The ownership at Redwood Animal Hospital took place September 1st 2011. The new doctors are great! Dont hold a grudge on the new dr who took over ownership. The grude should be held against the previous owner who did not tell her clients. The new owner even held an open house to introduce herself to RAH clients and the community. I highly reccomend that people at least meet with the new doctors and youll see for yourselves that both Dr. Abrams and Dr. Johnson are great! Great pet owners, great doctors, they treat everyones pets like they were their own and treat the staff with the upmost respect like their no different from the doctors (unlike most vets treat their staff). They have seen 1 of my dogs and I have no complaints on the way they practice medicine. This place in general (staff, doctors) are awesome!

I was traveling from Reno to the Bay Area. I walked my dog at the gas station on the way. He started snorting and sneezing on the road. I was in Castro Valley and did a search for veterinarians and they came up. They told me to bring him in so I did. The girl I spoke to on the phone just made me feel comfortable about bringing him in. Even tho they were busy, they squeezed me in due to my travel plans. I was there for maybe 15-20 minutes and my dog was back to good. They were able to remove the little sticker and didnt charge me an arm and a leg. THANK YOU very much Dr. George.... I think that was his name...lol. I dont remember, Im old...

We were just talking someone about the death of my best dog ever “Bowline,” a Rottweiler who was one of the best dogs I’ve ever had. And it occurred to me that I should give credit where credited is due. Anna. Anna made the whole experience very respectful and painless. My wife and I layed with our dog and she did here thing (a cocktail to sleep and then sleep for ever). She followed up with the ashes and a lot of communication. The whole thing was very cool and all be-it, it was a dark day for us; she made it the best it could be. Anna, you did a great job, thanks. Thanks Anna!

Very disappointed in the customer service of the owner Dr. Abrams. We boarded our dogs there this weekend. We signed an estimate of $96 dollars. When we went to pick up the dogs they charged us $192 dollars. They stated the estmate we signed was for only 1 dog. I disputed that we were never given a second estimate nor informed the price would be double. We would never have boarded our dogs for 3 days for $192 dollars. They refused to refund and was very rude and deemening. A formal complaint was filed today with the better business bureau.

I have been living in Castro Valley for over 10 years and used to go to the vet hospital down my street. However, after the owner died things started to go down hill and the new owner kept increasing their prices. My neighbor told me about Redwood and I decided to try them out. I wish I knew about them sooner. They are so caring and their prices are a lot more competitive than my old vet.

This place is fantastic! Discovered them by chance when buying a living social deal. The people are so nice and treated my dog like it was theirs. They were very helpful and answered all my questions (and I had quite a few, as I wanted to make sure my baby would be okay). I definitively recommend Redwood animal hospital. I also love the big dog that sits at the front desk.

I love Dr. Longley and Dr. Abrams. They are both very gentle and caring with my animals. All of the staff is wonderful and accommodating. I am always able to get an appointment whenever I need to. They have helped me in both emergency and non emergency situations. Everyone at Redwood Animal Hospital loves my animals just as much as I do. Thank you so much!

We have been going there with our German Shepherd since 2007 because my brother took his there and hes a stickler for good service. The people there are good with animals and human too. Didnt give them 5 star because the cost is not cheap. I guess you get what you pay for. Were still going there for our 2 dogs...

After you read the two previous reviews, please know that Redwood Animal Hospital was under different ownership at that time. I will be using a different vet from now on. If I am going to need a professional service, I want one that is honest with their clients.

Every encounter with the the desk staff over the phone for myself or others has been unpleasant and rude. It is like they have no time for me or people that are affiliated with me or my pets. I dont pay that kind of money for that rude a service.
