RUDE STAFF! First of all, i would like to point out that Dr. Black is such a great devoted veterinarian. He loves and knows exactly what he does. I am thankful for his awesome work. He had been giving my 8 months dog her shots since she was 10 weeks. Now, aside from that, I had only been with Davies for a couple months and the first few months of visiting was great like how I expected it to be. The morning staff were doing an awesome job, but just recently I feel that some of the staff are now becoming rude. I called to make an appointment a month ago. The receptionist asked for my name and I simply told her my full name and then a little after the conversation of trying to set up an appointment, she asked for my name again (I thought she had my FULL name the first time so I only said my first name) and her response was, "Okay, theres so many Nancys. I need your last name". Of course I chuckled but truthfully that was rude. Everyone knows theres more than 1 Nancys, Jennys, Larrys, etc. She could have said it in a better way but chose to gave me an attitude. Another thing that happened was, just recently I took my dog in for an emergency, I asked Amy the assistant/receptionist if they do walk ins/emergency and she said they dont but for emergency, yes. So I grabbed my dog, sat down waiting to be called in for a check up. There was a couple clients there waiting as well, but as soon as they were gone, Amy asked Pauline the office manager, "Okay, what do I say directly when someone asks do we take walk ins"? Pauline then said, "We would say no because blah blah wouldnt accept that". They started whispering and I was thinking to myself, you really have the nerve to ask when Im there after all the clients were gone, and especially when you clearly knew the answer. I thought this was very unprofessional of them and I felt very unwelcome so I left quietly without informing them because at that point I was upset and did not wanted to speak with them. As I got to my car, Amy came out and shouted, "Are you coming back"? I responded, "No" and she shouted, "Thanks for letting us know"! Thank god i left! I am never going back to Davies in Yuba city. I have realized how rude and unprofessional the staffs can really be. They both made me feel unwelcome and Im sure they purposely spoke out loud just so that I can hear their conversation. I hope something can be done about this because no one deserves to experience what I have gone through. Its people like this that gives the company a bad rating and I am sorry that I have to be one of those people. Again, I would like to thank Dr. Black for his awesome work!!!

From the first phone call to the actually visit, the ladies at the front desk are beyound very rude, unprofessional, and give you extreme attitude when you have any concerns about the procedures that your pet is about to have (neuter), they are not helpful at all. They are probably very unhappy women and I feel very sorry for them and the owner because they are suposed to represent the business and they actually are turning away customers. Its hard enough having to drop off your pet for a surgery knowing that your pet is at a place with grumpy people. Who knows if they take it out on the animals?? Also, I couldnt believe that the "pain shot" is NOT included and costs extra. That should be included with any surgery. I just want to hurry and get my cat out of that negative place and take my business elsewhere in the future. I would NOT recommend going to this place, the women at the front desk are bitches and DO NOT care about your concerns what so ever. They have no hearts and have no business working in that envionment!!!!

We are the type whom are always concerned about taking our animals to the vet, since we have had so many less-than-spectacular experiences anywhere from staff to cost, but we were really surprised with Davies Animal Hospital. First thing we noticed was the cost: definitely lower than most vets weve used in the past. Smaller items such as shots and checkups did not have the immense markups that most vets have, we were shocked to hear the prices, since they were pretty much inline with shelters and clinics prices. The staff is helpful (occasionally the front desk is less than wonderful). The staff whom actually interact with your animal(s) are usually very friendly, and seem to really like and enjoy animals. We have taken our two dogs, and it has worked out really well, and overall we have enjoyed the visits. We use Davies in conjunction with Tropical Paradise Pet Grooming, and love they are in the same location, and are both exactly what we needed.

Recently I came in, early for my appointment. I had 2 small terrier size dogs to get their parvo shots - from a tech. I had to wait over 30 minutes - other dogs came in and were seen, there did not appear to be any emergencies. It was an uncomfortably rude encounter that I had never experienced in all my years with Dr. Black - even though I never saw him this visit. The whole experience makes me want to find a new vet. My young dogs need more shots but I was not given a follow-up appointment for them. The following review was from years ago: Dr. Black and his team are the best. I followed Dr. Black to his own animal hospital after he treated my large German Shepherd, the first vet to NOT muzzle him before examination. Great care for your 4 legged family members.

Awesome experience!! I had recently moved to the area and my 7 month old English Matiff had some on going medical problems that my previous vet was unable to figure out in the time he had. Dr. Black from the first visit made my puppy happy to be there. He was able to remove the growth in Rufus mouth and sent it in for biopsy. We found out it was cancerous, Dr. Black got on the phone to get us in UC Davis to take care of the rest. We go there Tomorrow. Dr. Black and all his employees are caring and understanding, I would definetly recommend this vet to anyone. **They were also the cheapest for office visits, neuter, biopsy..... I know that is important sometimes, especially these days.

Beware most of the excellent reviews were a year ago when the real Dr. Davies was still there. Since he left the whole office has become very rude and money orientated. They do not care about your pet only the money they can get out of you. Steer clear if you can! Dr. Davies we miss you! You were an awesome vet. Davies staff what happened to you? You used to be great I guess RUDE Dr. Black rubbed off on you :( We were a customer for 10 years but not anymore.......

I took my bunny here when she was very sick. Everyone we encountered was extremely friendly and seemed to really care about what was wrong. The doctor was fantastic; he was so great with my bunny and really quick, too. My bunny ended up dying shortly after our visit, but the doctor offered a free autopsy for us and refunded the money wed spent for her. We had a great experience with this place and will definitely be back again for other pets.
