We went in because our golden retriever swallowed a foxtail, and our golden is no angel, and is very vocal and loves to talk, he also growls but they acted like they had never seen a dog growl before, and commented how uncharacteristic it was for a golden retriever to growl, and everyone of the staff looked down their noses at us, and the head nurse came in yelling your not going to let that dog hurt my technician are you? They were all lined up against the wall like we had the plague when we went in, and I swear they were afraid of a golden retriever and cinched the muzzle too tight. The doctor asked me to open his mouth and she stood back 2 ft and there is no way she could tell if anything was in there she never even looked she couldnt have. They charged us $120 and said well give him a shot and he gave the shot as hard as he could, they were complete twits.. They checked every one of our twenties as if we were counterfeiters. They are the ones that need to go to behavioral classes, we will never ever go there again if they were the last vet on earth. We have never ever been so poorly treated Every dog is different and before they judge with their snobbish attitudes they need to come out from behind there beetie little eyes.

Dr. Ann McDowell and her staff have been caring for our cats since we moved to Claremont 26 years ago and Chaparral Pet Hospital is WONDERFUL. Dr. McDowells knowledge of veterinary medicine is wide, deep, and up to the minute, and she is the kindest of doctors. When one of my cats was exceptionally fearful one day, huddled on the floor, she got down on the floor with him to do her examination. She explains things very understandably and never talks down to a client. Dr. McDowell is gentle and empathetic, both with the pets and with their owners. Just today, she performed dental surgery on one of my two cats. A lot had to be done, but the outcome was excellent. Butterbeer will eat much more comfortably now. I was astonished at the reasonableness of the cost. I expected to pay twice what was charged. I feel lucky to be a client in Dr. McDowells practice.

Dr. McDowell and staff are the kindest, most professional, courteous, caring group. Please do not believe any negative complaints about this facility or its staff. They have cared for all my animals for close to 17 years and have ALWAYS been considerate and kind. Any negativity published about this facility or its staff, consider the source. Would probably find the complainers the kind of people you would never want to meet or ever be friends with. The staff is probably privately relieved that those disagreeable people will never darken their door again. Think about THAT.

My dog is not an angel he doesnt like dogs ....everytime he goes to chaparral everyone is very nice and helpful and they make sure that the waiting room is clear I love how the doctor calms him down first she gets his trust by touchin him and then he easily falls for it and lets her check him....I come all the way from alhambra and let me tell u I would never go anywhere else ....me and my husband always reccomend it to all our friends and fam..

A family friend suggested Dr. McDowell, and I am so happy she did! She is excellent with my small dog and my house rabbits. She always has the time to give you all the details and is so caring and honest. I drive from Corona to Dr. McDowell because I have tried others that are closer and always wish that I didnt. The last 7 years of care that Dr. McDowell and her staff have provided have been the best I have ever received.

A family friend suggested this vet, and sure enough she was great! She is excellent with small animals, and my family friend found her to be good with dogs. She correctly diagnosed my hamsters heart condition and told me what to look out for, which other vets have been confused and unhelpful about. Just got a puppy and plan to take her here!

I took my male rat there for an emergency. His cage mate messed up his eye. They were so polite and great at reassuring me my boy would be ok. Their prices are great compared to other places Ive been to! I would definitely recommend going here. Only down fall is they dont take care credit. Other then that its a fantastic clinic!!

We have many pets across the range (dogs, reptiles, hens, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc) and Dr McDowell has treated many of them. We have always received nothing but stellar treatment at reasonable prices. The staff is caring and handle our pets and our kids (the pet owners) with respect. We couldnt ask for better service.

Weve gone to Dr. McDowell at Chaparrel Pet Hospital for ten years. Shes treated our cat and dog for all sorts of problems. Never once have our pets received anything but the most professional, courteous and caring treatment. I recommend her without reservation.
