# User Rating: 1 out of 5 stars by gloria 07/19/2010 This vet is horrible . I took my dog there because she suddenly started panting heavily. I knew something was wrong. I made an appointment thinking we would be helped sooner. Instead I waited for more than an hour. I saw walk-ins being helped before me. There staff is rude. When we got their there was no one in sight. When the vet finally arrived he couldnt even provide me with any sort of diagnosis. Gave us possibilities of what he thought might be wrong with her. Told us she needed x-rays etc. At the end he gave us an estimate of nearly $300 dollars. For what I dont know. We couldnt afford the whole treatment. He ended up giving her penicillin and ketofen injections. When we got home our dog couldnt even walk. She was worse than she was when we took her to the vet. I started browsing on the web for her symptoms. Turns out I was able to diagnose her . She had Eclampsia. He gave our dog ketofen which she didnt even need. Almost killed our dog by giving her the wrong medicine. Called after to see what we could do with only $100 on hand . After spending about $100 on our prior visit. They said no. This was by far the worse experience I have had. I wouldnt recommend this vet to anyone. He is clueless. And doesnt care about your pets well being. I would recommend Fransiquito Animal clinic Dr. Spraull is really nice. Willing to work with you and cares about your pets health. Only gave one star because it wouldnt let me give them a zero stars.

This place took advantage of me in an emergency situation. I spent $541 on tests and medicine, when instead my cat should have been euthanized. My cat was hit by a car and appeared partially paralyzed from hips down. Instead of giving me straight advice that it would take $1000s of dollars to heal my cat, he kept my hope alive and recommended test after test (my cat had no broken bones). After each test, he would state that it would "good" news, but he would need another test to make sure this was all worth it. After incurring $500+ in charges, he said I could take my cat home and "should" stabilize in 3-4 days. Well, he died 10 hours later. After the fact, I read it often takes months (and costly medications) for animals to regain mobility after partial paralysis. This should have been explained to me, but was not. In no way did I feel that this guy genuinely cared about by situation. I should have trusted my instincts. The worst part is my cat should have been euthanized while he was still under the effect of a pain shot, but instead ended up suffering an extra 10 hours! In the end, I paid $541 for guesswork, false hope, and to be sent home with my cat and a bag of medicine. Also, the staff is unprofessional (heard them dropping f-bombs) and unsympathetic in dire situations.

I would definitely recommend Dr Kumar to any pet owner I know. Dr Kumar and his staff have great bedside manners with all their patients - they are thorough, attentive, informed, and gentle. The staff there are happy and articulate - no flippancy here. Ive never experienced anything less than exceptional care. Not only that, but they go above and beyond, accommodating emergency rescue cases on short notice and bringing home special cases and nursing them to health. One time I was there a woman came in to euthanize her healthy 6-year-old Jack Russell because her lifestyle didnt suit pet ownership anymore, and Dr Kumars staff stalled her until we could convince her to board her pet there while we found a home for her - which we did in no time at all! In the end, the woman even made a donation. Theyve taken in numerous animals in all sorts of conditions that people leave at their door and commit to their health as if they were getting paid for it - last time I was there it was a basket of tiny kittens with GI problems that they were bottle feeding. Whats more - they dont cut corners on care and treatment and will fully investigate what is wrong with your pet, keeping you frequently updated on their progress and findings.

I am a strict animal rescue and I require only the best for my pets I rescue. I have used several vets in CA, (not by choice) and I would highly recommend Dr. Kumar and his team. They are by far the best. Dr. Kumar doesnt believe you should give up on a pet, that if that pet is willing to fight for its life you should fight also. Many vets first word out of their mouths are euthanize for a critical situation, not Dr. Kumar, and that is what I love about him. I am based out of Rhode Island but I have met Dr. Kumar and his team several times, I even call him for advice on my own personal pets I have here with me in RI, I value his opinion over my vets here any day. Dr. Kumar has been my CA vet now for almost 2 years and every fur-baby I rescue goes to him and are boarded with him until I am able to drive to CA to get my rescued babies. If I could give him 10 stars I would but only allows 5....lol! Great Team At Southern California Animal Hospital. Love you guys! <3

Dr. Kumar and his staff are amazing! They showed so much empathy when I had to put down one of my dogs of 15 years. The staff was extremely comforting and Dr. Kumar was honest about my dogs prognosis and what would be best for her circumstances. Never did he give me any false hopes and was supportive with my difficult decision. I now have a 5 month old Boxer named Hazel whom is recognized by all the staff there. Shes always getting into some sort of trouble from the kennel cough, to allergies, and most recently a accident where she was struck by a truck. The people at this place are like family to me and my new puppy. I love how they all interact with my dog and always pay extra attention to making animals and owners feel at ease with the best care possible. I recommend this place to anyone who has pets. Thank you guys for doing what you love and making my life so much easier in caring for my puppy!

Dr. Kumar and his incredible staff are one of the best vets I have ever been to. He and his staff truly care about each and every animal that walks in their door. Its so rare to find a vet that cares more about the animal than profit. They treated a dog of mine that was diagnosed with parvo. THEY SAVED HER LIFE! They called me every day with updates on her progress AND - treated her for MUCH LESS than the 3 other animal hospitals I had estimates from them. In addition, they did a complicated orthopedic surgery on a dog my friend brought in with a broken femur. Hes doing great now!! If you want a great vet - go here!!!
