What Happens During A Teeth Cleaning? Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 Other Steps Overview Teeth cleanings are sometimes dreaded. Between the prodding, strange noises, and occasional jaw discomfort, it’s easy to understand the apprehension. But the truth is: For most people, a teeth cleaning is simple and painless. Knowing exactly what is going on during the process can help ease your stress and allow you to better enjoy the minty fresh, clean results. STEP 1 Step 1: A Physical Exam Most teeth cleanings are performed by a dental hygienist. Before the actual cleaning process begins, they start with a physical exam of your entire mouth. The dental hygienist uses a small mirror to check around your teeth and gums for any signs of gingivitis (inflamed gums) or other potential concerns. If major problems are detected, they might call the dentist to make sure it’s okay to proceed. STEP 2 Step 2: Removing Plaque and Tartar With the small mirror to guide them, the dental hygienist uses a scaler to get rid of plaque and tartar around the gum line, as well as in between the teeth. You’ll hear scraping, but this is normal! The more tartar there is in your mouth, the more time is needed to scrape a particular spot. We brush and floss to stop plaque from building up and hardening into tartar. Once you have tartar, you can only remove it at the dentist’s office. So if this is your least favorite part of the teeth cleaning process, the lesson is to brush and floss more often! STEP 3 Step 3: Gritty Toothpaste Cleaning After your teeth are completely tartar-free, the hygienist brushes them with a high-powered electric brush. They make that infamous grinding noise. While it sounds scary, it’s a great way to get a deep clean and remove any tartar left behind from the scaler. Professional cleanings use toothpaste that smells and tastes like regular toothpaste, though you can often choose between flavors. However, it has a gritty consistency that gently scrubs your teeth. This occasional polishing of the teeth is deemed safe at the dentist’s office twice a year. But don’t be so harsh with your teeth at home, as you’ll wear down the enamel. Your dental hygienist can get deep in between your teeth and locate any potential trouble spots where you might bleed at the gums. This might seem pointless if you floss at home, but having a professional floss your teeth also removes any leftover plaque or toothpaste from steps two and three. STEP 5 Step 5: Rinse! Next, you rinse out your mouth to get rid of any debris. Your dental hygienist will usually use a rinse that contains liquid fluoride. STEP 6 Step 6: Fluoride Treatment Fluoride Disclaimer! While dentists recommend two fluoride treatments per year, some insurance companies only cover the cost of one. Make sure you set up a payment plan in advance if this applies to your coverage! The last step of the cleaning process is a fluoride treatment. This treatment is used as a protectant for your teeth to help fight against cavities for several months. Your dental hygienist will ask you what flavor you like best (mint? lemon? bubblegum?). They’ll then place the foamy gel (or sometimes it is in the form of a sticky paste) into a mouthpiece that fits over your teeth. It’s usually left on your teeth for one minute. OTHER STEPS This is what you should get during a regular teeth cleaning. This should be information for every patient to know dont let them just polish your teeth. They are saying a polish is a cleaning and saying they cant give you a normal cleaning because you need a deep cleaning. That will cost $600.00.im going some where else now.

If I could meet a zero I would.. this place is absolutely incompetent... On my first visit I asked them to file down the molars that they were working on because it happens that they tend to rub on my tongue and give me a cyst... They couldnt do it right on my second visit I asked him what three separate times on that visit alone please send down the molars youre working on because they rub on my tongue they couldnt do it... So if you dont mind walking around with a tear on your tongue that turns into infection because theyre incompetent then go ahead walk right up come to this place get infected.. theyre all about the money the shysters they dont mind tricking you theyre all about the money.. they have too few dentist working musical chairs jumping from room to room I cant give good service to anyone patient because they got too many people there trying to jam down their throat... This is the place you need to stay away from if you want good service terrible service here below-par dentist and the and the money lady Will fleece you... I wish I could give a zero I would... Stay away from here at the staff is incompetent

They told me Dr. Rabizadef only does surgerys now. Things were better when he was around for general appointments:( Long long wait. I had an appointment for check up and was not seen for 1 hour so I had to come back again to be seen by the other dentist in the office and it took another hour just to get in to see the dentist. They came out with their masques on there face to see my daughter and scared her so she was crying and afraid the whole time during her appointment. My daughter was crying and hollering and they still did not hurry up and attend me after she was done. So I asked for a referral to the pediatric dentist for my daughter and they said the insurance does not allow them to refer unless there is something wrong with the child. But I called the insurance and they said it is not true they can easily refer. I also called another dentist that I am changing to and they said it will not be a problem to refer my daughter to a pediatric dentist.

The receptionists at the front are very rude, no sense of customer service. It feels that you are at an auto parts instead of at a dentist office. I had an appointment an they didnt bring me in until 45 min later. Whats the point of making an appointment. This is a primary Latino community thereby, nobody complains to social channels. They should improve their services all around, I dont recommend this office period. You are welcome to go if dont mind to be ignore and not to get treated as patient. All they care is about profiting, their form as new patient they ask for your spouse social security. They asked financial questions before you go in, they should evaluate you first and then ask those questions.

My old dentist at east Los Angeles i didnt like it because they were pulling out the wrong teeth and didnt know what they were doing but once they recommended this dentist at Boyle heights I felt relieved because they knew what they were doing. Back then I didnt like my smile at all because it was ugly but now I have this amazing smile by the help with my braces. I am glad I can show off my smile to the whole world but I am also glad that they helped my siblings smile as well. Thanks to them we have the confidence to show the world how happy and confident we are. I truly recommend this to the first timers and I am glad to have them as my dentists. Thanks to them once again.
