I have a genetic condition that keeps me mostly home-bound these days, but I still try to take my rescued TNR kitties to my beloved low-cost clinic in South LA, but, when somebodys got a sudden ailment and I just cant imagine making the drive out there (or Hubbys the one who is going to be taking them in) we bring them to Animal Wellness. It supports so many local cat rescues, and is a non-profit; they work to save shelter animals lives, and they do so at their expense, Im assuming, unless theyve been granted funds through donation for the animals care. Onto my own experiences, of which Ive had three or four now, they also have fit me in when Ive panicked over some sign of illness (that always turn out to be nothing, thank goodness), and theyve done so without making me feel like a dumb-ass-over-worrying pet mom. Costs are less than most on the West Side, but thats still too much for someone with a lot of furry rescues to feed. If youre not a nutty rescuer like me though, youll probably find their prices pretty good. The waiting rooms are very clean and nicely done up, and the front desk folks have been nothing but professional and kind to me. I also find it nice that the dog section and the cat section have separate entrances, simply because its less stressful for cats to be in carriers if they dont feel threatened by dogs (not that the dogs mean to be threatening, its just the way it goes with cats). And, while I havent found the vet here to be the most outgoing or talkative of individuals, she does seem to be very caring and knowledgable. Im not saying that shes grumpy, just something of an introvert (and my being an extrovert I always feel like Im doing all the talking and wind up feeling silly that I seem to be performing monologues instead of participating in the usual back and forth :) Oh, and in regards to the reviewer who complained about the barking dogs in the yard...I just dont know what to say. I mean, really? I know. Theyre barking. Were not all dog folks, but, dogs barking, inside the vet or out, are an inherent part of the business. Its not like the vet can just sit down and reason with them, theyre dogs. They bark. And that the dogs are able to get some outside time and fresh air instead of being cooped up in kennels inside in a sterile environment is wonderful; Yes they bark, because thats what dogs do when theyre in a new environment; I spend a lot of time at vets, and regardless of WHERE they are, inside, outside, in a kennel, in an exam room, out in the parking lot while getting into the car, they bark. And bark and bark...and bark. And then they bark some more. Some bark more than others, but from what I can tell they bark wherever they are. They aint happy because they aint home, folks. But from what Ive observed the dogs here are treated just as well, and possibly even better than at any other vet Ive ever been to. And that they werent being watched? Pish posh. Its not like that yard is disconnected from the back of the business, out of view of the vet techs stationed there. Dont get me wrong, I do feel for the locals who didnt have this kind of businesss noise prior, but... I guess thats what happens when you buy (or bought, 25 years ago) a house adjacent to one of the busiest and biggest commercial districts/roads in Los Angeles. You win some, you lose some. I guess when it comes right down to it, Id simply prefer to hear dogs barking outside while getting out and sniffing the fresh air, than the combined noise of them all barking at once in the cavernous interior kennel space of the vets infirmary. But I digress. I am very glad that this vet opened up on the west side, as we really needed one like this here! TL;DR: This vet = very good! Non-profit, saves lives, kind staff, they put up with me and my cats. Yay!

The Animal Wellness Center on Lincoln Blvd. in Marina del Rey has got a real problem. They leave your dogs in their yard at the back of their property, where these dogs bark... more or less all day. Sometimes as early as 7:30 am, sometimes as late as 10 pm. This yard butts up against a residential street. My street. The owner of the business, she has demonstrated that she does not care and will not take any effective action to get the barking under control. I have lived here for many, many years (almost 25!). I work from home. Its a loud street, but the traffic and music and machinery sounds all sort of blend in together, and dont generally continue for more than a few minutes of any singular sound. Even the dogs barking in the neighborhood once in a while. Their dog barking is a different story. Their barking is that of a pack of miserable, frightened dogs in a strange environment, left for long stretches of time, alone in a yard. The kind of barking that pierces windows and walls and basically never ends. It literally sounds like I live inside of an animal shelter. And so, my home is unlivable, and my work is more or less impossible to do while that barking is going on. Not to mention the frustration and stolen sleep from those early morning 7:30 am bark-a-thons which always seems to come after Ive spent long night working. I have pursued every possible legal avenue I could think of to try and resolve the barking, from asking nicely to desperately begging, to reporting it to animal services, to becoming angry, to walking over in my pajamas in tears (last Christmas morning when I was woken up at 7:20 am by barking after being up all night cooking for my family), to calling the police. Nothing has changed the situation for more than a couple of weeks at a time. In fact, it feels like its become worse overall, and now I have basically exhausted any leg to stand on that I had. So I am moving from my long-term home. Im really sad about it. I will never forget how this business has treated their neighbors... but to take something positive from this experience... I will NEVER, no matter the circumstance, put a neighbor through something like she has done, ever in my life. So my appeal to the pet loving and helping community of the 310 area here on Yelp, I would like to humbly ask your support in boycotting the Animal Wellness Center. Just find a different veterinarian... one that treats their neighbors well, or at least doesnt make their lives hell... And also, lets all be a little nicer to our neighbors and make sure our dogs arent barking their heads off all day :)

Having heard of Dr. Annie’s thorough veterinary experience, I decided to call her to visit my home to see if she could help manage my purebred Havanese’s weight problem. I’ve tried all sorts of holistic diets from a multitude of vets, but have had very little success in managing my precious Mischa’s obesity. After Dr. Annie’s comprehensive physical exam and nutritional analysis, she set up a personalized exercise/weight-loss program compounded with an organic diet. This, on top of Dr. Annie’s amazing line of vitamin and supplements , have helped to reduce Mischa’s weight and increase her energy level. Although 42 (in dog years), Mischa now acts like she’s a puppy! I highly recommend Dr. Annie to anyone wanting to rejuvenate their dog and help it maintain a healthy lifestyle.
