I have used Academy Animal Hospital since my dog was 8 weeks old, and she is now 5 1/2. I also use three other Vet Hospitals in different locations on a regular basis. The other Hospitals are good, but Academy is a cut above the rest. They have a full complement of employees, and starting with Erin, whose smile extends right through the phone, you feel comfortable before you even walk in. Laura, the other receptionist, has always been very helpful, and Aimie and Kathy the vet Assistants are exceptional. There are four vet technicians at Academy, Danny, Katie, Nan, and Tracy. From my perspective, they are all equally good. Not to be overlooked is Misha, the office manager. Misha is why the office runs so smoothly. Because of stomach problems my dog needs special food, and that food requires a prescription. During my frequent travels, both Misha and Aimie have located and called vets in various cities, making it possible for me to obtain Noodles Hills W/D dog food. The four veterinarians that work at Academy own the Hospital, and collectively they must have at least one hundred years of experience. They dont hesitate to consult with one another should there be a need. My dog has seen Dr. Zanders (Dr.Z,) Dr. Reiman, and Dr Serrano. The only veterinarian that she hasnt seen is Dr. Beccari, but Ive heard people speak highly of him. Of the three doctors that weve seen, we dont have a favorite. All three are excellent, and very personable, with animals of their own. I feel very fortunate to live near Academy but, without hesitation, I would drive many miles for their care. They are also well versed when it comes to travel. They have helped me multiple times obtain the proper paperwork to fly to Hawaii with my dog. Last, but not least, Noodles used to tremble and shake every time she was in Academy Hospital, but because of their gentle hands on approach, she now remains calm during her exams and (if necessary) treatments. If you would like to talk to me about Academy or more specifically, traveling with a dog to Hawaii, talk to Academy and they can tell you how to get in touch with me.

Dr. Serrano and staff have done wonders for me over the past few years. They go the extra mile to optimize my health and provide support and suggestions for "my human". I am an anxious traveler and the staff at Academy goes out of their way to make my visits as comfortable as possible (short of letting me u-turn and go home!) The facility is always neat and clean and the Techs are professional, super kind and gentle. Dr. Serrano takes what ever time is needed to thoroughly discuss treatment options and will always check in following visits or procedures to make sure things are ok. My human likes that! Also, he is a skilled Acupuncturist and will offer this and other holistic options if appropriate. l highly recommend Dr. Serrano, Dr. Reimann and Dr. Beccari and the incredible staff of Academy Animal Hospital! I owe my healthy and well-being to them! Mr. Buddy

My Cats, Simba (adopted from Academy) and Roxy have been going to Academy their entire 13 years. My Dog, Maya was with me for 8 wonderful years. Academy loved, welcomed, cared for her with the utmost kindness, compassion and medical excellence. I, and my Babies have always been treated as Family; and nothing less. Dr Bacari has been my primary Angel, assisted by his fellow Vet Angels. But, really, the entire Staff are truly committed to the health, care and welfare of EVERY Animal that comes through their doors-owned, orphaned, or stray! They commit to finding quality homes...and noone is ever turned away. It takes a special breed of caregiver to run a practice this way...and Academy gives animal caregiver a whole new meaning. Wonderful Practice...Wonderful Human Beings. Want to know more? Go and see for yourself...you wont be disappointed...promise! : )

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME VET HOSPITAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dr Beccari & Dr Serrano have been taking care of my furry boy since we brought him home, rescue from Helen Woodward, over 4 years ago. I cannot say enough about this facility (clinic), staff, doctors. They are courteous, professional and always try to accommodate our requests and answer all of our questions. They call to check up on Scooter when he has been sick and are always there to assist in any way possible. Although we live in close relationship to their facility I would drive miles to still have Scooter seen by this clinic. Erin and all the support staff, well I cant say enough about their dedication and care given to Scooter. They really care about your pet as it is their own. I thank them for their outstanding services provided :) Forever Grateful, Scooters Mom

Academy Animal Hospital was recommended to me by a friend, because I requested help with finding a good caring vet, had only poor relationship with all previous vets in Joplin since I moved here 3 yrs. ago. The first place recommended was not taking any new patients. I went to the Academy and spoke to the person at the reception desk and was given several choices of when I could bring my pets in for their first visit, a dog and a cat, and they were very happy to see both on the same visit which went well. I took my cat in for a follow-up visit and they carefully placed me in an exam room as soon as I opened the door because their were dogs in the waiting area. The entire staff both times were excellent and caring and provided helpful tips on care. I recommend their services highly.

We have 3 dogs: 2- pugs and a ? (but he looks like a wheaton doodle). Our oldest pug has has gone blind, lost an eye, has had mast cell tumors, has gone deaf and has arthritis. Our younger pug has had a collapsed trachea and other breathing issues. Our lil mutt has had behavioral problems and aggression issues. This is our little family and they mean the world to us. Academy is just an extension of our family and has helped us to work through all these issues. They have been amazing at caring and following up with us over the years anytime something is wrong. They know how much we treasure our pups and Academy treats them (and us) like a member of their own family. Thank you Academy for holding our hand over the years and making sure that our pups are all good!

We are visiting Solana Beach from Washington State with our dog 15 yr old Emma, she needed gland expressed, after going to the vet clinic in Encinitas, where they wanted to do a complete exam plus blood tests, for a lot of money, ( I had all her paper work), I went to the Academy Animal Hospital, the gal was great, no problem, called my vet in WA for information, took Em the next day, vet came out to talk to me, gave her a basic exam, no charge, asked about her medication, chated for awhile and we left. The next day the receptionist called to ask about our pet. Wonderful, friendly people and great service.

Dr. Lou Serrano at Academy Animal Hospital and his loving, caring staff, took care of my beloved Siberian Husky of 13 1/2 years, "Sasha," in her last months of life. She was such a healthy dog, but after near 13 years of beautiful life, she hurt her back leg and cancer set in. When I knew it was time for her to say goodbye, Dr. Serrano came to my house where I had a beautiful fire set and Sashas great dog companions by her side. Dr. Serrano gently gave her a sedative, and as she peacefully laid in my arms, we said farewell. May you rest in peace Sasha, and I will see you at the Rainbow Bridge!
