I was always annoyed by Costco. There were crowds, more crowds and no service. The other day I found a piece of furniture/shelving I thought I wanted. I went home to think about it and try to figure out how I could get both pieces home. I called the store, expecting a definite no, to ask if they could deliver. Instead, I was told there was a private delivery company that was often used by the Inglewood store. I called there, got the number and went to the Torrance Costco to purchase my shelves and inquired how to set up the delivery from a Manager. He said he thought I could fit the shelves in my car if we took them out of the boxes. He then fetched a tape measure, measured the boxes, took me out to my car and kept measuring until he found the best angle to fir the shelves in. He then found me a huge cart took me to the shelves, loaded the shelves onto my cart and I paid for the shelves. Another man, unasked, rolled my cart out the door (after the normal receipt check) and found me a helper to load my car. I went to my car, took it to the loading zone and it was loaded carefully, protecting the finish. These Costco employees saved me $70 is delivery charges and two days wait time...and I never asked. They just found me the best solution. In addition, once I got home, after constructing the first self, I began on the second and realized I was missing a small shelf. After searching my house and car several times,I called to see if the shelf had been left on the cart and they were holding it for me. After being transferred several times, I found Lashan, who understood the problem and assumed that it had been thrown out with the wrappings. She apologized for asking me to return to the store and said she would open another box and give me the missing shelf. When I was leaving the house, I checked once more and in the light of the open garage door I found it hidden against the same colored wall in my trunk. Once more I called Lashan and apologized for the trouble I had caused her. She was wonderful and gracious and only spoke about how terrific it was that I didnt have top return to the store! What a terrific day at Costso. Prior to that I had never dealt with anyone but the checkout people and the sample folks. The management people (and I spoke to many, Johnathan and Lashan particularly) were incredibly sensitive to my needs, even undefined, and did everything possible to assist, saved me $70 in delivery charges and the fellow who packed my car even refused a tip!!!!

The Tire Center at this Costco by far is the worst I’ve experienced. I have been purchasing my tires at Costco for years now because they offer a great service and warranty (at least at the Costco where I lived in San Diego). I moved to the South Bay a couple of years ago, and the Costco in Torrance is the closest to my home. Recently I purchased a new set of tires online and I received notification from UPS that my tires had been delivered to the store. I never received a call from the center that my tires had arrived, and when I tried calling to verify, my call was never answered and I was disconnected (already an indication of poor customer service). My mother then offered to take my car in for me since she wanted to do some shopping there anyway. She waited over 3 hours and when they finished, they improperly installed the spare tire in my car and left a part in my trunk uninstalled. Now I have to go back and waste my time to have this issue resolved. It’s really unfortunate that this is the only Costco in my area and I don’t have an alternative option. I’m seriously considering driving an hour to the next nearest warehouse location, just so that I don’t have to deal with this one in Torrance. What good is the warranty if the service is miserable; you are better off going to an auto tire center.

Have really enjoyed Costco through the years but I guess in this day and age of striving for excellence in customer service, bigger doesnt necessarily mean better. I have tried to use Costcos new car was on 2 different occasions over the last few weeks. The 1st time to no avail but I was shopping there so no big deal. Today I drove 20 minutes to their location to find that it was down again. Staff on site couldnt give me any info so they recommended I talk to the on duty manager Masi who was very polite but had no answers as to the problem or solution so she had me wait while she checked with the GM Jay. I added another 20 minutes to my drive time waiting for a response from the GM. Jay finally came out to convey to me to me that the pump had broken..."sorry about that." Really!? I believe Costco needs to send their Managers to some form of CSI training. I have worked in various forms of management through the years(auto dealerships, media consultant, advertising...along with my wife who had managed various departments in Nordstrom) and never would respond with an oops, sorry about that. I would have done something to acknowledge and offset the customers frustration and loss of time. Hopefully this will be a catalyst for change.

Today, July 11, 2012, I went to this Costco and purchased a number of grocery items. Inside, everybody was nice-it wasnt too crowded. I then went to purchase some food outside with my son. He waited in 1 line which became 2 lines while I waited in the other line which became 2. His turn came up before mine so I left my line and ordered after my son gave his order. A Eastern European man, not a gentleman, interrupted me and said that my son cut in line. I said,"Are you ridiculous, he has been waiting like everyone else. This guy kept arguing so I turned to the Hispanic woman on the left who gave a stupid expression, laughed, and then said my son cut in line. I then turned to the right and asked an older gentleman who appeared to be quite intelligent if he saw my son cut in line. He said no and I asked him to confirm since he had seen me conversing with my son the whole time. After arguing more with no success with Nincompoop, I finished my order. Later, that evening, I complained to Administration and asked them to paint lines, just like other Costco locations. I thought people would be civil, esp in Torrance, but I was completely wrong.

Do not use the carwash it will scratch your car and Costco will not take accountability or help fix the scratch. During their "investigation" they did not even talk to the car was attendant who had mentioned this was not the first time this has happened. They will claim that the "foam cannot cause the scratch" and " there is not sufficient evidence to claim that the car wash caused the scratch". I have been to that car was before it was fine, Ive bee to the one in San Juan Capistrano with no incident. The scratches on my car are multiple vertical scratches that are 1 - 1.5" long and range about 8 inches. These scratches are not random in nature there is a pattern. The car is literally 1.5 months old and did not have plates so the paint was pristine. I just want Costco to do what is right and fix my scratch that their Car Was has caused.
