Ive suffered from TMJ related issues for many years now, with very little help from any doctors, partially due to insurance companies not covering it. I was thrilled to find Dr. Wilks, an apparent specialist in TMJ problems, so close to my house. But I soon became very disappointed. First, I called to schedule an initial consultation (which is $300!) and was told then that they would get a preauthorization from my insurance and if they would not cover it they would call and let me know. I never heard from them, so I went in. They were also apparently supposed to send me some paperwork to fill out and bring in but I never got it, so I spent and extra hour there filling it out and while the staff was very nice, all Dr. Wilks did was tell me what I already knew-that I had two slipped discs in my jaw-and it wasnt until after my appointment that they told me my insurance wouldnt cover it and I had to pay $300 right then. So I paid $300 for them to tell me what I already knew. Next, they recommended a mouthpiece and when I told them I was nervous about the insurance not paying anything they said to go ahead and get it, theyd bill the insurance to get what they could for it, and since they felt bad about the mix up with the paperwork and the insurance, they said they would write-off the rest. Well, I just received an explanation of benefits from my insurance saying what they will pay (which of course is always lower than the amount originally billed) and they said its not enough and I will be responsible for the entire remaining amount (~$800). Dr. Wilks said there is no guarantee that this mouthpiece will even work and unfortunately, I cant afford $800 for something that might work. So Im very disappointed with my insurance company but mostly with Dr. Wilks office for their lack of following through with what they say theyll do and really putting their patients needs first. I would not recommend them to anyone because what they say they will do for you cannot be trusted.

Dr. Wilk and his staff are a wonderful asset to the people of the Denver Area. I have been to many medical and dental clinics throughout the county (including The Mayo Clinic and Harvard) and can say that Dr. Wilk is among the best the country has to offer. Dr. Wilk seems to really enjoy his work and it is clear he is concerned with the patients wellbeing. His staff also deserves praise. They are professional, attentive and courteous; from working out insurance and billing intricacies to making sure you are comfortable in their office and having what you need; they think of the patient’s specific needs and they are friendly. I have obstructive sleep apnea and I will never forget waking up the morning after I used the EMA device for the first time; I was rested! I felt awake and ready for the day ahead. I had not felt rested for over two decades. It was amazing. Thanks Dr. Wilk!

I have been a patient of Dr. Wilk for the past year. I was mis-diagnosed by so many Drs that it was so nice to find someone who knew what he was doing. At the first visit, he diagnosed me, started a treatment, and now I am pain free! Finally. My family and friends can see the change in me. His financial staff was extremely knowledgeable and help to secure my insurance benefits, and his nurses are very compassionate. If I ever have a flare-up, I know where I will be going. Thank you again.
