I took my mini Aussie into them Monday early afternoon, 5/2. Hed been vomiting and couldnt keep anything down. They ran the blood work and found his liver enzymes were very high. I was told hed need a 48 hour stay to have an IV to help flush his liver. I paid $455 for all the blood work, tests and his first nights stay. They were originally going to charge me $750 for the 2 nights and his tests. I was told I could visit him whenever they were open and I could call during the night to check on him. This was true. I was told theyd cap off his IV and take him outside to potty. This was not true. When I asked about him having to pee in his kennel, which stresses him out, I was told they were too busy to take him out. I was told that hed need to have an IV for 48 hours to flush out his liver. The vet said we needed to flush, flush, flush his liver. On Tuesday late morning, when I went to visit him, I was greeted abruptly by one of the techs at the desk. She was rude. While sitting in the waiting area till a room opened up, I saw 2 people come, wait several minutes and then leave when no one came out to the desk. When I finally got in a room to see my dog, he smelled of urine and his IV was not dripping. He was stressed and trying to pace and could barely pay attention to me. This was alarming. The blood had infiltrated into the IV. It was kinked and twisted so badly that it couldnt have worked. When I asked the tech about it and said that it hadnt dripped once in 20 minutes, she cleaned out the IV and got it dripping again but didnt address why it wasnt working when I got there. When I asked why his IV hadnt been working and why hed only had half a liter of fluids in 24 hours I was told by one of the techs that it wouldve been too much. This didnt corelate with what the vet had said the day before about him needing flushing to help his liver calm down. Once the tech got the IV going my little guy started calming down and acting less in pain. All my alarm bells were going off by the time I left him to go to work. I was very uncomfortable with the care hed been getting and how he was responding to being left there. I was also offended by the way they evaded answering my simple questions about my concerns. I stopped back by about 4 hours later to check on him. His IV was once again stopped, with the fluid level right where it was when I left. It was infiltrated with blood again and he was visibly uncomfortable with it. When I questioned the techs I was given the run around. When I asked to speak with the vet to share my concerns she had 3 different staff come in to speak to me instead. I asked each of them to speak directly with her. By this time I was done with their sub-par work and horrible bedside manner. I was concerned about my dogs safety and well-being. I asked the vet about his kinked IV. She said that they only checked on them every 2-3 hours. Her answer made no sense and didnt explain what Id seen. She was condescending and evasive. She claimed a language barrier because shes from Puerto Rico. I havent had such horrible interactions with a vet clinic and their staff in my life. I gladly signed an AMA and took my dog home. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLINIC! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BELOVED PETS IN THEIR CARE. Their reaction to my concerns was to send me a letter and I quote, "It has come to my attention that on numerous occasions youve indicated displeasure with either our services or our healthcare team." "It appears that we are no longer able to fulfill your veterinary needs to your satisfaction and, therefore, are unable to retain you as a client within our practice." This was the only thing we agreed on.

This place was amazing. As long as a owner does not wait til the last minute to get their sick/hurt animal help, then they do their very best! This place has the best prices by far. But cost should not matter to save your loved one. If you have an animal I feel you need a savings account just for you animal because it is like having a child and it will need a VET at some point. IN home treatment may save money, but it gives you a smaller chance of saving your animals life depending on the circumstances. My dog Dino is 3 1/2 years old and got PARVO. It has a 92% death rate within the first 48-72 hours. They saw my Dino and gave me the options, if they see you are trying to save money, or worried about the cost, they will do there best. BUT IN THE END IT COST TO SAVE A LIFE. They will care as much as you do....Sure it is a longer wait, but they are there from 6am-until late 6 days a week actually working- not sitting arounda, also over night. They work their tail off trying to save these animals, you cant walk in and snap your fingers to fix your pet. The vet even stayed 45min after they closed for my Dino, so my boyfriend can say goodnight to him. IT TAKES TIME. Even with my anxiety and attitude, they still cared. I kept my dog there, on a IV which is the best chance to save a dog with parvo, they gave me hope. I called every two hours, even at 2am and 4am they were answering the phone and checking in on my dog. They even gave me a free canned food to feed him and allowed me to walk him out side. As busy as they were, I felt as if I was getting my own personal treatment. Even with a dog with PARVO they had hope for my dog (because they saw I WAS A CARING OWNER). So understand that, sure you had a bad experience, but you must look at the situations, did you wait until last minute?, did you have an appointment?, were you pinching dollars?. I will say it again "they will only care as much as you care". And have you ever went to an emergency room and not waited? So then you must expect that at a ANIMAL HOSPITAL IT WILL BE A MUCH LONGER WAIT". But I only waited 45 min and I knew my dog was in the right place. PLEASE GO HERE, my dog came home happy and seemed sad to leave. I will see you soon Hermosa Clinic for his vaccinations. Thank you. DINO SAYS HELLO!

Beyond dissatisfied. I went in as a walk in and was quoted a 45 minute wait. Im understanding when it comes to being a little off on time estimates, especially with a walk in clinic, but I waited for three hours until they let me wait for another half hour in the exam room so the lobby didnt look so full. They kept her overnight and said they would call when she was ready to be picked up. I called five or six times either being put on hold for 10 minutes which then goes straight to voicemail or being pushed to the answering machine the first time. I left four messages wondering when I could pick up my cat and I received no response. I waited almost an hour just to pick up my cat and pay $500 for a kidney infection(which I found out a month later that she had a tumor on her kidney which probably caused the kidney infection to begin with. I wonder why nothing showed up in the extensive blood work they did?) which required an overnight stay, blood work, fluids, medication and a T4 test. Already this was a horrid experience. I called after not hearing anything about the test results after three weeks. The vet called me back telling me that the blood wasnt put in the refrigerator so it was ruined before the test was done. Why I wasnt informed about this weeks ago for a $75 test is beyond me, so I asked for a refund. Since I paid in cash they said they would send me a check. Low and behold, it has been another four weeks and no check. I have called at least 2 or 3 times a week for the last two weeks with no response from any of my messages. I do not live on that side of town so going down there to badger them seems ridiculous, but I have no idea how else I can possibly get my money back. I also have no idea if it has any correlation whatsoever, but I still find it relevant to bring up that my cat died about 4 or 5 weeks after going to Hermosa. She was slowly getting sicker, even after taking her there, and though they took care of the kidney infection, Im curious as to how much time they actually spent making sure my cat was indeed "otherwise healthy" like I was told when I was there.
