I read the bad reviews and still decided to give this office the benefit of the doubt. It couldnt possibly be that bad... IT WAS. The entire experience. I have a new puppy who was due for his second round of vaccines and dewormer since getting him from the breeder. He was also having gut issues so I wanted that checked out. I was excited that they had free first visits for puppies. The front desk hardly greeted me. I had to say hello first, which I got a delayed and half enthusiastic response. The veterinarian was the only one who introduced himself, and he was actually very pleasant and the only one who seemed interested in the animals. The technician whos profile on the website says her name is Jessyca was dressed in pajamas, did not introduce herself nor her position, and talked to me like a 5th grader with her first puppy. The entire visit seemed rushed. When I got back to my car, a whole 20 minutes had gone by, "exam" and all. I knew what I needed to get done, so I had to do all the asking of questions. I dont feel like they attempted to educate me on what was going on with the pup at all and the next steps to the process once labs went through...especially since they didnt seem to see me as a mature enough pet owner. The older woman Karen at the front desk could not have had a tree shoved up her rear end any further as she did not once smile, nor have any of the PROPER customer service mannerisms. She spat out a total cost for the visit, and never once listed the individual items listed like ALL other veterinary clinics Ive been to around Denver. She then seemed irritated when I questioned what all I was charged for. Then instead of a thank you, I got a "there you go," as she tossed my receipt at me. I thanked HER and she ignored me. Today when I returned for a pick up, she was on her cell phone at the front desk and never once bothered to look up. Totally unprofessional and unwelcoming for her position. I tried to remain pleasant through it all, but I so badly wanted to keep my money, and run for the doors at how unprofessional the staff is. I got my puppys medications and will not be returning for vaccinations. Of all the vet clinics Ive tried throughout the years with different dogs and living locations, this is by far the worst. BANFIELD gave me better experience than these people! At least they seemed to enjoy their jobs. Nobody batted an eye at the pup and everyone in the backroom sounded immature. I would rather spend more money at a place that is much more welcoming and WILLING to spend time on their clients.

The worst decision we ever made was to set step into the Gillett Veterinary Clinic, a decision which ultimately cost our beloved dog his life. Apparently the Gillett doctors botched 2 surgeries on our healthy Golden Retriever. Our Golden had ingested a sock which needed to be removed. We immediately had the surgery performed. A week after the surgery our dog just didn’t seem the same, we took him back in and were told that he must have a small leak in the intestines a second surgery was recommended, again our dog went into surgery. We understood that this occasionally happens. What happened next is absolutely unacceptable. We noticed that our dog just wasn’t getting better, twice we took him back to Gillett, only to be told that he had just had 2 surgeries and he would need time to heal. We just didn’t accept this and knowing that something wasn’t right we took him to another emergency veterinarian clinic who immediately recognized that our dog was failing and probably had peritonitis due to a leaking intestine. (Wait we just had that fixed, so we thought) We immediately took our dog to CSU. CSU Emergency Clinic was dismayed at the condition of our dog. The second surgery performed at the Gillett Clinic was not done correctly and a third surgery needed to be performed. Because the Gillett Clinic did not correctly fix the leaking intestine on the second surgery our dog was in pain and on deaths doorstep. Now the situation was much more dangerous for our dog. CSU Emergency Hospital was able to correct and fix the surgeries, but now because of the missteps of the first 2 surgeries, our beautiful Golden would end up losing 60% of his intestines. Over the next 13 month we struggled to keep food in our Golden. At the end there was so much scar tissue form the failed first two surgeries that our Golden could no longer sustain life. We are heart-broken and outraged at the care and missed opportunities of the Gillett Clinic.

We were given wrongful medication advice of a patient of theirs that we just took over ownership of. This led to the dog going to the ER with a dosage of the OVER THE COUNTER HUMAN MEDICATION suggested to us that was 3 parts over the lethal limit. This resulted in a medical bill of nearly $1,000. We called in for over a month trying to speak with a manager with little help from the front desk staff Karen and Keri. Finally we were able to get Jodi the phone who has a certification from HSUS partners circle for animal protection advocate and self described "The biggest animal lover you will ever find. She will go out of her way to save any animal, she will even stop traffic just to save any animal. She is the most gracious person you will ever meet." who initially blamed me for my dog landing in the ER. She was very combative, and screaming at myself through the phone which cause me to get upset. My fiancé got on the phone and after a lengthy conversation Jodi agreed to file a claim with her insurance company (we were asking for reimbursement of the ER bill). Had not heard a thing until early April when we were finally able to contact Jodi after several calls. The only answer we got was, "You need to contact my insurance, theres nothing I can do for you anymore." After contacting their insurance we found out the claim was "denied for non coverage." Again it took us several calls to get ahold of Jodi and again, "well, if insurance isnt covering it, I can no longer do anything." We finally decided to reach out to Dr. Gillett himself. Still waiting on his response and its been almost a month. At this point we are drafting a letter of demand for payment. If that is not received we will proceed a legal route to get our money back. Also, comments and reviews left on their facebook have gone unanswered, though their facebook has been plenty active.

Dont know where to start, so Ill start here....My daughter brought her 4yr old cat in on Saturday, Feb 4th, to have his mouth checked because of really bad breath. He was otherwise healthy. She had him at the office once before with no problems. This time though, he went into respiratory distress when she was brought into the exam room. She got him out of the crate only find him wheezing and hardly breathing. The vet that came in, was a floating vet that is not normally there. He felt his lungs sounded bad and brought him out for X-rays and bloodwork. Never did they administer any oxygen to help the cat. They gave him an injection of depo medrol, a steroid. The X-ray showed some fluid in his lungs and his heart abnormal. He was in obvious severe distress. HE COULDNT BREATH! They said maybe asthma. Told her to take him home and give this asthma med and if he gets worse, take him to the emergency vet. Well of course he got worse! She got home and his tongue turned purple and she rushed him to the ER. He proceeded to collapse in her arms on the way in. The ER vets tried to resuscitate him but he died. Diagnosis....congestive heart failure. Gilletts office didnt see that!? How can you release an animal with severe distress and say go home! I am beyond angry that my daughter had to go through this for nothing! Im hoping Dr Gillett, whom I hear is very nice, goes out of his way to check on the vets hes bringing in. Because as far as Im concerned he has failed his clients. Totally disgusted. And no, this office deserves no stars.
