Dr. Oster was my OB for my first baby. 25 weeks into the pregnancy I went temporarily blind in my left eye while shopping with friends. Concerned, I called her and her exact words were, "youre fine, that sometimes happens in pregnancy". I continued to question her if I should go into the hospital and she reassured me I was fine. A week later I went in to get checked out so I could travel for a family wedding. I asked for an ultra sound as I had been feeling very little movement, especially around the times he would normally move, like when I ate. She told me his feet were probably facing inward and I just couldnt feel it. After a measurement of our baby came up small for its gestational age, instead of checking into it she just assumed I became pregnant later and changed the due date! While at the family wedding in a Dallas I was feeling no movement at all and went into the hospital. We were told we needed to do an emergency c-section as the baby was not receiving enough oxygen and his heart rate was fading. Our son was born weighing 17 ounces at 27 weeks! He spent 1 year in ICU and has special needs and has had more surgeries than I can count. When our son was a few months old I went in and confronted her as to why she had never called me to check on our son. All she talked about was the insurance companies were investigating her and she wanted me to understand she did her best and to back her up with them. She had NO concern for our baby, but to make sure this didnt cause her any issues. It turned out I had a blood clot in the placenta and our son was very much under grown and the clot was what caused me to lose my vision which could have resulted in a stroke. I also had absolutely no amniotic fluid which she would have seen if she had done the ultrasound I requested. I write this in hopes that other first time mothers will read it and understand the risk of using Dr. Heidi Oster as your OB.

I was shocked when I read the other reviews of Dr. Oster. She has been my provider all the way through my first pregnancy and just delivered our baby and the entire process was nothing but enjoyable. Dr. Oster always made me feel taken care of and was never hesitant to answer any questions or even see me on short notice when I was concerned after my delivery. She has made sure that I have felt cared for in every aspect. When it came to my actual delivery she was amazing. She walked me through everything she was doing and was extremely encouraging throughout the whole process. After delivery she made sure I had everything that I needed and came to check in on me the day after I delivered AND the day after that; making sure my pain was manageable and the nurses were taking good care of me. Her front desk staff can get a touch confused with the programs they use but I have always been patient with them and it has never been a problem. The first few times I saw Dr. Oster the front desk staff was a bit short with me but they have since warmed up and been much more pleasant. Again, I was shocked when I read the other two scathing reviews of Dr. Oster, as my time with her has been nothing but enjoyable and pleasant.

My pregnancy was nothing but complicated from the beginning. Dr. Oster and her staff were always willing to see me and take my phone calls. After my membranes ruptured at 21 weeks she was very concerned for both the health of my baby and myself. With weekly ultrasounds and 24 hour access if I had any concerns. At 24 weeks she admitted me to try and stay pregnant as long as I could and when I started bleeding I was put on constant monitoring. Unfortunately I did start getting an infection which triggered labor 4 days into my stay. Dr. Osters quick response and monitoring kept me and my baby from getting sick. While we both had some antibiotics as a precaution it couldve been so much worse. My baby is doing great for being born at 24weeks 4 days. Seeing some of these reviews are truly frustrating. She is great at what she does and I have never had a Dr show that much concern over my health and well being. Not all cases are the same and most will end up being how they are meant to be which has nothing to do with Dr. Oster but has to do with a greater power which some choose to deny.

If I could give less than one star I would. This office has no organization. Pat the PA does not know what she is doing. She tried to do a uterine biopsy on me with no warning, no pre medication. It was painful and she couldnt do it. I went back and Dr. Oster did the procedure and it was an incomplete procedure, with an incomplete report from the pathologist. I waited 2 hours after the painful procedure at the pharmacy for pain meds. The 2 Wendys at the office couldnt get their stories straight and the office manager was too busy to take my call from the pharmacy. STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNPROFESSIONAL, UNSYMPATHETIC, DISORGANIZED OFFICE. I will pay the bill with the same care and attention they afforded me, YES!! They sent me a bill. SMH!!!
