I knew I wanted to be free from being ambushed by the past, but it never got completely addressed and worked through in 45-55 minute sessions with other doctors during years of therapy. Dr Russell is thorough and patient, as my mind did what it knew best to survive... avoid painful experiences. His determination to address every aspect of my needs paid off. I was actually able to see how my brain has learned this habitual response to triggers and avoidance. Past traumatic events surfaced, and with Dr Rs process, I was able to visit them as my current self, with my strengths and my heart. This helped to resolve buried feelings, fears, and most importantly to me, how I react to my current life experiences. My relationships changed in positive ways and I no longer feel that my past traumatic events rule my life. I am enjoying feeling strong as a person, with the power to respond to life, instead of automatically reacting based on my past.
