After 5 years of terrible dentists in NYC, I cant believe I found such a good one on my first try here in DC. Ill stay with this dentist as long as I can. She has amazing bedside manner -- she explains everything in detail, shows you the x-rays and the additional pictures she takes using a camera. She talked me out of having a filling redone that had been bothering me and explained in detail why it had been bothering me and how it would naturally fix itself. My last dentist in NYC had taken the opposite approach -- he tried to talk me into several thousands of dollars of unnecessary dental work. Basically, Dr. Alem seemed very concerned that I received the best care and not at all concerned about getting me to agree to unnecessary work. The cleaning was extremely thorough. The offices were very nice, sunny and well lit, with up to date equipment and extra perks -- (i.e. the cameras for additional pictures in the mouth and a chair with a back massaging mechanism). Highly recommended. Im not sure of all the insurance she takes -- oddly she wasnt listed on the Metlife website though she takes them, and these are the insurance companies that shes listed as taking on Zocdoc : * Aetna * CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield * Cigna * Delta Dental * Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield * Humana Dental * MetLife * UnitedHealthcare

Two hours after I called for an appoinrtment I was in the dental chair --- I didnt want my "liittle and occasional pain" to be a bigger problem later on. Dr. Alem studied and probed the problem, an xray was taken -- aha! -- there was a "cloud" somewhere between the base of the tooth and I guess my jaw bone. Dr.Alem removed the old crrown (approximately 30 years old) drilled, analyzed, pondered, gave me her conservative analysis - if I wanted to avoid infection, a root canal would be the solution. Although I shudder, I am going forth with her recommendation. Why did "I love this", because I have full confidence in her professional skills and analysis, and her chair-side manner is comforting and gentle.

great and friendly team. Dr. Erfan is kind and my kids (daughter 5, son 3) are not scared to go see their dentist. They enjoy the visit and the goody basket!
