This is hands down the absolute worst place to receive medical care. If you love your loved one and want to ensure they get proper care, avoid this place like the plague. The professionalism of the staff is sub par. The communication from the hospital staff to next of kin is non existent and it seems not a single person in this institution knows what the hell is going on. If you have good insurance, they will force you to stay until youve maxed out your benefits. The MD evaluates you for a min and there is no one on one therapy. Discharge instructions are sub par. Basically you have to be both your loved ones social worker and patient advocate or risk them rotting in there and potentially getting worse. The patients tend to skew for Substance abuse treatment so if you need a facility that concentrates on mental health so that you get the best care. I have had experience with other facilities that are leaps and bounds better care and YOU DESERVE BETTER! Family members push to get information timely and often because they will not do this for you. You have to fight for your patient because they do not work in the best interest of the patient but rather in pursuit of the insurance money.

This facility is the worst place to send any family member. They lie to the families and the patients. They take advantage of the mental health patients and trick them into signing forms like they volunteer services with them and hold them longer and longer than needed just to keep getting the insurance money. There is NO certified medical staff working there. No one checks to see what medications the patients need. NEGLECT AND ABUSE to the patients there. My husband is living testimony. There is a lawsuit being filed against them for INSURANCE FRAUD!! Please dont go here and take some of these reviews seriously especially if you love yourself or a love one! I wouldnt even rate this place 1 star. It isnt worthy of a star! More like negative points, but in order to comment, you have to give it a star!! 1,000 thumbs down for this place!

Ok, here we go, I was having a drug induced psychosis and tried to commit suicide. After a 2 day hospital stay I ended up in this horrific nightmare of a "hospital" (Shutter Island) This mental care facility is run as a prison! The staff acts as prison guards and not as nurses etc. You get to talk to an incompetent Psychiatrist for 3 minutes per day! Accordingly I was misdiagnosed by Dr. David H. Flaherty with a depression even though I had a full blown psychosis. If it wouldnt have been for my family that got me out of there I don`t know if I would still be here. Dr. David H. Flaherty is a incompetent Psychiatrist from Hell and fits right in this place of a horrific nightmare! AVOID AVOID AVOID Shutter Island under ALL CIRCUMSTANCES!!!!!!

I didnt get any medication change. They lost the meds I came in with. The facility is very old and you can only use a ten tops min. shower. Everyone practically uses the same 2 showers most of the time. I came out worse than I came in. This is more like a rehab not a mental health facility. The lunch hall smells and, I constantly threw up. I lost a lot of weight. Plus most people didnt attend group or care. They only wanted a cigarette break. The nurse who administrated medication was very rude. Go to Memorial regional in Hollywood. This place is horrible and a lot of people only go because they are homeless or a serial facility kind of person. Do not go here many arguments and disrespectfulthe staff and patients. I CAME OUT WORSE !!!!!

Its wonderful I was a adolescent patient I the staff are wonderful its a great place for sobriety ,self esteem ,fitness and great learning center for school I love the teachers the math teacher Mr.g and the reading teacher she was hard on me cause she cared I loved her a d those tasty cookies she made its a safe enviorment and everyone becomes family Im not gone lie at first I didnt like it cause didnt wanna be there but after a while u start working on yourself and having fun while doing it when i left i cried because i didnt wana leave my family I loved my experience and soon will come back to be a speaker in the girls unit bayside IM MIRACLE MILLER

It disappoints me that there are so many bad reviews for this Hospital. While it is not the "state of the art treatment facility, or private Mental health Hospital",It is however a Rapid Stabilizatiion Unit ,meant to get patients detoxed or keeping them from injuring themselves or others, not a long term facility. I found the staff very compassionate and willing to listen. It is up to the patient and or caregiver to follow through with after care and or treatment. I would like to thank all of the staff for helping me get through my short time of crisis. I promise I will pay it forward. Love and light to you all.

This place saved my best friend! I couldnt get her in there for 3 days because she wouldnt go in she was scared. They called me personally for 2 days to check on her. Eya the girl who works in daytime is a sweetheart and Melvin overnight is an angel. Three placed looks small but it is not and its clean! They shouldnt get anything but 5 stars!

This place is horrible for mental care. I went to the ER and they promised I wouldnt have to pay. My insurance didnt cover the hospital because its out of network. My credit was ruined. Better facilities. This one is horrible for mental health.

This is the worse place ever ,they tried to Rape my girlfriend never go here,they will try to put you on medicine that you dont need, they ignore patients, also just try to hold you their as long as they can to get money from your insurance
