Honestly, the WORST hospital visit EVER. They treated me like I was some kid looking for drugs. I came in at 1am with scale 10 pain in my right side that had been troubling me for hours. I had medication from a previous hospital for a UTI and they suggested me going back if I experience any worse symptoms. So I went to Jefferson two days after, couldnt eat, sleep or even stand. They were rude the second I stepped in, asking if I was carrying anything on me then ignoring me for 3 straight hours. Every time I hit the call button for the nurse to get water or a question they would shut it off then continue to chat outside my room about sarris candies. When the doctor finally came in after 3hours of straight pain, he acted as if he was in a rush. "hey whats the problem?" he asked, and before I could get two word out he was poking my stomach and gabbing to the nurse without looking down at me at all. I was scared out of my mind, worst pain I had ever felt and I got no answers from anyone on what was happening to me. Only saw the doctor for 4seconds before he went to his break, so I was left with two nurses that acted like I was stupid for even coming. When I left, the "head" nurse yanked the IV tube from my arm as if she was glad to see me leave. Leaving a giant bruise on my wrist. I hope I never have to go back there. I was nothing but nice to everyone there and they treated me like a nobody. Went to St. Clair Hospital a day later and found out I had to get my appendix removed, I could have died! Thanks For nothing Jefferson

1 STAR FOR WALKING IN THE DOOR FOR CARE IN THE ER. 5 STARS for being transported by ambulance. I can tell you, in my own experience that you are IMMEDIATELY taken care of in your own cubicle. Unfortunately, their ER waiting room is antiquated, and in need of re-CONFIGURING how they take care of ill patients. I dont know how that ER can be improved, since Im not an expert on these matters, but it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know something isnt right with people laying all over the place for hours suffering with their ailments. How can 1 nurse in the intake behind the glass partition manage to do assessments of more than 30-100 people by him/herself for an 8-12 hour shift? No wonder they are in disagreeable moods. Highmark, please do something about this emergency room. New carpet, new chairs and for heavens sake, please do something about the awful wait of 4-8 hours when sick/hurt. Ive gone in for stitches, and had to wait forever! Unfortunately, Med Express wasnt open .

I when because I had a piece of metal in my knee and is was swollen and infected, I even called med express first and they advised me to go to jefferson. well I was had a x ray performed and could see the metal was right below the skin. I was informed by the doctors there that they do not do that kind of procedures in the emergency ward and advised me to got to a specialist to have it looked at, they discharged me with a copy of the x rays and NO meds. for this information I received a bill totaling over $600.00. I ended up going to McKeesport UPMC where I was properly taken care of and was told that to have released me from the hospital almost cost me my leg. I have been to Jefferson before but have never had this kind of blatant failure to preform emergency treatment of something so significant. WARNING DO NOT GO HERE OR TAKE YOU CHILDREN HERE FOR ANY EMERGENCY.

Horrible !!!! I was in the er with massive Pain and a virus I sat there dehydrated with pain. For hours I watched people come and go and all they could say was Im next I waited 2 more hours till I eventually decided Ill go home n deal with the pain not to mention I left work and have small children at home i sat here and watched another patient crying her eyes out just to get In the back and she havent even been here a hour after they said a five minute wait for me and 3 people went back I no better than that and I no they take more serious patients first be she had a virus also , I came in Jefferson hospital to get treated not mistreated and the triage had all types of attitude with me I will be calling corporate firsr thing in the morning !!! A big waste of time and very unprofessional staff in the triage !!! Never again

Horrible, horrible ER nurses. First women when cleaning my hand to place an IV used a cleaning agent Im allergic to and I had to ask her 3 times if she had used it before she finally heard me. She ended up blowing the vein after 3 vials of blood was drawn, probably because she left the tourniquet on so tight my arm turned white. I asked for another nurse for the second IV attempt and he caused the worse pain I have ever experienced and Ive had a chronic disease for my whole life and know what getting stuck feels like. Begged for him to stop but he wouldnt until I started screaming. They were able to get a few vials of blood, but not all and couldnt/wouldnt test the ones they already had. I am severely anemic and cant afford to just throw my blood away, I dont have much of it. Ended up telling them to just let me go home.

This isnt the place to go if youre sick & in need of quality and compassion. Just like in most hosiptals the bottom line is money. This hosiptal and the doctor that I wont mention by name put my love through undo suffering. The hosiptal is under staffed, dirty, & there is also plaster and paint peeling off of the walls. Thats not an environment that a sick person should be in. The quality of care is so bad there that when I was walking out the door and overheard a couple talking about the care that her mother didnt recieve and her mother died this morning. Close this hosiptal down! The bottom line is health care but theyre only interested in your taking advantage of you and your insurance company. If you are stuck going there for whatever reason your going to come out worse than when you went in, best of luck

Went in for chest pains was admitted. Nurse Rachel in the er was so rude and nasty with the needle. Doctor or should I say nurse sue seen me once after that nothing from her or the other nurse. I sat in the room until five am when they took me to my room. The nurse on the floor was nice but the nurse Abbey when I woke up was just as bad as the ones down stairs. They were talking about an elderly woman who was next to my room very nasty. I couldnt believe what I heard coming from professional nurses. I went down for a stress test to be taken back up to my room due to lack of doctorWaited to until four pm to be told nothing was wrong. Next time I have problems I will go to upmc even though I hate them. Jefferson needs some make overs and I dont mean the hospital
