Dr John and staff are THE BEST!!! My fur-kids and I are SO blessed to have found them!! We live in FL 8 months out of the year, for 4 yrs now. I have just kind of jumped around trying to find someone GREAT!! I finally did!! DR. JOHN and staff, for at least a year now. It doesnt seem long as many people go to the vet once or twice a year. But with 3 Chihuahuas just getting to that age where we start to see issues, I have been there many, many times. By my choice!! I think Tiffany and Rory know my life history by now!! LOL! They are the two smiling faces at the front desk. Both are so awesome!! Very smart, patient, sweet and funny!! I am one of the pickiest persons on the planet, when it come to vet care. When you take your 1st step into the clinic, it has no smell!! I will say Summerlin Animal Hospital is BY FAR, one of the cleanest clinics I have ever been to!! I have 3 Chihuahuas currently, and they all see Dr. John, and sometimes Dr. Karen. My 1st visit to Dr. John with my 6yr old Chihuahua Rizzo, (who is a sweet ham, that LOVES everyone, but is scared to death at the vet) anyhow, Dr. John came into to the exam room ALONE and immediately squatted down on the floor away from Rizzo & I, and introduced himself. He then proceeded to ask me questions. My first thought was -- okay...does his back ache or??? NO -- he just that AWESOME, and knew to squat down to the dogs level, talk to me calmly, while not addressing Rizzo just yet. After about 5 mins, he called Rizzo over to him, pet and talked to Rizzo, and then picked him up. He continued to hold and pet Rizzo while we talked for a bit longer. Then set Rizzo on the exam table. Rizzo was much less stressed and scared. He normally pants, his ears and conjuctiva (lining of his eyelids) turn a deep bright red! His blood pressure really rises!! But not that day, Rizzo did great!! SO VERY calm (for Rizzo) anyhow. And that is just how great Dr. Johns bedside manner is. He is much more!! I have had many animals, and seen many vets. I feel Dr. John is VERY knowledgeable, he knows all of the latest medical info, etc...his hospital has the latest technology as far as equipment etc... Dr. John likes to double check certain lab tests, he does not charge you again. He is just that thorough!!! Dr. John takes his time with you and your pet, (and trust me, I have MANY questions) and Dr John is so patient and compassionate, yet has quick answers to my questions. He explains everything in great detail. I am always calmed by his nature:-) THANK YOU! He NEVER pushes for unnecessary tests, or x-rays. I would know, because "I" am the one who will say: "well, maybe we should do an x-ray to look for ****?" He will tell me it is not medically necessary, but if you are a real worrier, and this will help you, I can do it, but dont recommend it. He does recommend tests when needed, and specialists that are amazing as well. Dr John HIMSELF calls you, to explain any test results from your animal. He will take your call during office hours. If he is in a room, he calls back usually at his 1st chance. Occasionally, if its not serious, he will call at the end of the day. But ALWAYS the same day!! I just LOVE him. So does Rizzo, Yogi, and Daisy!!! Thank you Dr John!!! You rock!! Big hugs, and puppy kisses!! Abigail, and the gang!!

Our Older Lab was not eating and losing weight which really upset us. They let us bring him in immediately and gave us antibiotics and did blood work. Then he had a reaction to the antibiotics and they let us come in right away and changed the anitbiotics. They even let us purchase a lesser amount of the antibiotics until we were sure he didnt have a reaction to them. Then we picked up more for him to complete the full dosage. He was doing better but we were going on vacation with him, so they said to have a vet call them and they would have the vet run the needed test to confirm his status. He was doing well but needed another regiment of antiobiotic. They called us during this process to make sure he was doing well. Their concern was excellent and I would recommend them highly for any pets care. Only thing we were upset on was that we didnt get a sample of the first antibiotic he was given before a full purchase since it was so expensive. Since he had a reaction to it.Dr. Karen is great!

I had to take my cat Cous Cous to a hospital a few nights ago. There they shaved him in a wide area....nothing was confirmed. I was advised to get in tough with Summerlin Animal hospital. There I met a technition who was very understanding and answered concerns I had. Then I met Dr. John who explained in detail what he was going to do....including an Xray to check on his kidneys. He also took a blood sample to check his creatin levels for the kidneys......Cous Cous had not been voiding......Maybe with the charms of Dr. John Cous did void the next morning....and I was further impressed when Dr. John called me the next day to check on Cous Cous. Cous Cous is still wearing a soft cone from the hospital as he was pulling out some fur.....or had dermatitus of some kind and lapping it caused the problem.......but all is well at this time but I will surely continue to bring Cous to Dr. John for any treatment he may require......

Dr. John is the best vet in Fort Myers, hands down. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a caring and compassionate veterinarian for their pet. Words can not express how grateful I to have him in my dogs life. He took care of my Zeus, after relocating to Fort Myers. I had used the same veterinarian for Zeus and my beloved golden retrievers who have since passed, for over 10 years and never dreamed I could have found a replacement. Alas, we found Dr. John and will never worry if he has quality care. Zeus had a bad reaction to a medication, and Dr. John saw him on an emergent basis, waived his exam fee, and refunded me for his meds. He called over a holiday weekend to ensure Zeus was feeling better, and suggested a topical alternative (which was not carried in office, thus, no revenue) which he wrote a script to fill online. We would be lost without him and his amazing staff.

I was new to Florida and Fort Myers. I was alone and grieving about losing my son and grandchild in an accident. I had 4 cats and two of them were my sons. They had been relocated several times. This "hospital" and Dr. A.... played on my grief and sentiments to keep a 2 and half pound sick 13 year old cat who had belonged to my only child. He did not "listen" to me even after he saw I could not get the medicine down him. He would have drained my entire bank account. His insurance company found no "wrong doing." Well, they were not there. I have 3 other senior cats and have found a fair and competent vet for them and they are thriving. I would strongly advise new residents to shop around and get recommendations before going to Summerlin Animal Hospital. The staff was kind. Dr. A is just greedy.
