This hospital is garbage. Ive had two visits. The first was 6 years ago because I couldnt breathe without pain. I waited an hour to be moved to a hallway surrounded by empty rooms because there was no bed they said. This was promptly followed by a DR coming up to me to ask what was wrong. After telling him the symptoms and him feeling around, no tests were given by the way, I was informed I was cramping and charged $3,000. After leaving unsatisfied in intense pain I went to Heart of Florida to learn I had two broken ribs. A month back now I went again thinking it would be different due to the fact I had insurance this time. I had serious pain under my knee cap that after weeks of dismissing I had finally caved into. Boy was I wrong, I waited for a few minutes to be moved to guess what? Thats right ladies and gentleman, a hallway surrounded by empty rooms because there was "no open bed." As I sit there next to three empty rooms then here comes the DR. He feels around my knee a little bit and tell me its arthritis. After my previous visit I decided to ask for an X-ray, thinking surely this could provide a solid result. After the X-ray the nurse was sent to discharge me, no information or anything. So I asked to see the DR, after politely informing him hes paid to see me he told me I dont pay him and that it was arthritis and to take ibuprofen it would be alright. $4,000. Following this visit my girlfriends aunt who works at Lakeland Regional insisted I get it checked again. Sure enough, torn ACL. This by far is the worst hospital I have ever been to. Going here is the equivalent of staying home and waiting to die. Do not go.

I am very surprised at all the bad reviews for this medical center, having just moved to Lake Wales very recently I was stressed out and not feeling myself so I took my blood pressure and it was unusually high. Not having a primary physician in the area yet I decided to go to the center to get checked out and Im glad I did. Went in to the ER reception and was seated with a receptionist within 5 minutes, she was very professional and filled out all the paperwork on the computer with my ID and insurance card, no lengthy forms to fill out, this took a total of 7 minutes. After that I was in the waiting room no longer than 3 minutes when a nurse (Ingrid) called my name and I was escorted to a private large cubicle where I was attached to BP and pulse monitors. Ingrid was also very professional and after some small talk she had me very relaxed (not easy to do,not big fan of hospitals). Doctor came in (great bedside manner) and explained exactly what they where going to do, blood tests, EKG, chest x-ray and monitored my BP that was taken by the machine every 15 minutes. Noise was kept to a minimum with the nurse and doctor checking my vitals periodically. Within 1 and a half hours I had the result of all my tests and the doctor told me they all came back fine. He contributed the high BP on the tough moving experience and change of lifestyle and recommended a primary care physician to follow up. All in all it took total of three hours to have peace of mind, would highly recommend this ER, couldnt have been more professional.

The staff and medical professionals I dealt with were friendly and nice people and this review is no reflection on them. As far as I cam concerned, they are top-notch. However, their back office administration is just terrible. They outsourced their billing and payment department (also called the Business Office) to some third party company and it has made dealing with them abysmal. After paying them, they cashed my check, then sent me notices the bill was still overdue. I called their business office and emailed a copy of the cashed check from my bank and they said they would take care of it. Then a month later I received a notice from a collection company for the amount I had already paid. This time, I came in personally and they reviewed my file and found the outsource company had dropped the ball. I am still waiting for resolution. One thing their billing outsource has done is remove any sort of accountability from the process. No one you speak to takes ownership of a problem and are all too eager to dismiss any issues with "we are not the hospital" because they feel that is justification for being unable to answer questions or provide any type of channel to anyone who can actually do anything. It is a real shame when dealing with your community hospital feels like dealing with some faceless bureaucracy.

The staff in this hospital made our experience a lot less painful. Everyone treated us with kindness and concern. They made us feel comfortable and were helpful in every way. We had visited the ER in another hospital twice without results and care plan. JoAnn, who answered the phone, knew who I was by the second call and was polite, prompt and efficient. Volunteers were kind and attentive. What a pleasant change from other hospitals. Doctors, nurses and ER staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. Cannot say enough good things about this location and staff. Thank you for being who you are.!!!!!

My husband was taken by ambulance to lake wales hospital . He was choking on a piece of food caught in his throat. Upon arriving at the ER he was placed in a wheel chair an say in waiting area. 4 hour later he had not been seen by a dr since he was breathing they didnt have time to help him? I finally wheeled him out side an he threw up dislodging what was stuck in his throat. Good place to die in my opinion . we also received a Bill from hospital this is being disputed with Medicare

All this hospital is worried about is thinking someone is there for their next fix. I could care less about that. I go to the hospital when its an emergency. Last time severe neck pain and I was put in the room with the dental chair. Nowhere to lay down and didnt even get a follow up from the sucky nurse practitioner. Noone explained what was going on. I will never go back and continue to refer people to other hospitals.

Everyone at Lake Wales Medical Center was very helpful. Im a senior citizen and I was a little frightened to have to be away from home. They were all so kind to me. The doctors and nurses were excellent. They came into my room quite often to see how I was doing. Everyone was expert at their job. And -- even those who came in to clean the room were polite and thoughtful and made the room clean and comfortable.

Worst hospital ever. They prescribed me something that made me break out in hives because the doctor (who prescribed me a medicine without doing a test to see if I even had what he thought I did), had to go see a dermatologist and harassed me for months for a payment (which I am now being sued for). They dont even deserve ONE STAR. Good job Lake Wales Hospital, I dont even know why youre still in business.
