When my wife went a week earlier they assigned her to the wrong dentist so the insurance company would not cover her visit and we had to pay out of pocket. Fortunately, Aspen Dental covered the costs since they admitted it was their fault. I was prepared this time, so when I made my appointment I was told that they would check with my insurance company to make sure that I get to see the right dentist to avoid the same issue that happened to my wife. I called my insurance company to get the list of the dentists that are under my plan before I made my visit. On the day of my appointment I walked in to the clinic to get my cleaning as scheduled. I asked what dentist was going to see me today and as I expected they assigned me to a dentist that my insurance company doesnt cover. I talked to the receptionist and luckily one of the six dentist available was under my plan could see me. The dentist checked my teeth and told me that everything was fine, she told me to walk with her to setup the next appointment. I asked her "Where is my cleaning ?", she seemed shocked and went to check if I was scheduled for a cleaning. I told her that the reason I came was to get a cleaning, even the receptionist verified that with me when I first arrived. The assistant told me to wait back in the lobby while they get ready the cleaning chair. I waited over 30 minutes in the lobby and I finally I had enough and went to the receptionist and asked her what was going on. It does not take 30 minutes to get the chair and equipment ready. The receptionist then told me that she had to put me in at 1:30pm, my appointment was schedule at 11:30am and I got there at 11am to turn in the paperwork. When the cleaning was finally performed it was done in 10-12 minutes, she didnt even flossed me. I had to tell her to please floss my teeth since that is what is normally done in a cleaning. I felt that I was just a number and they just wanted to get paid from the insurane company. I am very dissapointed in this dental clinic. I do not recommend going here, stay away.

CONS (South Lakeland): #1: The staff in charge of billing is very pushy to get you to pay the incorrect amounts. #2: They have missbilled me 3xs in three visits. #3: They do not explain the costs until you ask why do I have to pay that much." PROS: #1The Dentists are very nice, accomidating, and knowledgable. #2: There are other offices!!! GO TO North Lakeland on 98 or Tampa off of Dale Mabry!! #3: They give you a treatment plan of all the items you need to take care of to get your mouth healthy (all Aspen clinics do this). Instead of waiting 5 minutes for my insurance to go through they tried to charge me $176. After 30 minutes of saying no Id rather wait for the insurance, the insurance went through and my bill was now $25 (my deductable, which is what I knew the bill should have been) and turns out that the because of the last time I was misbilled I had a $50 credit. After 2 hours in their waiting room they took two people in front of me with appointments after mine and then told me they couldnt see me tonight because they were running late. Could have settled the insurance issue over the phone in that case. They wanted to bill almost $300 for my wifes cleaning. Had she just agreed to the cost we would have been out $190 for a new electric toothbrush we didnt need (already own one). We were then told her cleaning was not covered because of the type of cleaning. I now have another $46 credit coming because the cleaning was covered just part of the procedure was not (had to check my insurance website to find this out). After all that I scheduled a future appointment for a Saturday appointment a month in advance. Today I call and they do not have my appointment in the system. Thats the last straw for me. We go to the Tampa office now and Ive filed a complaint with my Aetna Dental plan. Id file with the BBB but it will file against Aspen as a whole and its only the South Lakeland office that Ive had this issue with.

This is the most disorganized AWFUL and completely UNPROFESSIONAL dental office I have ever visited. I made an appointment for my daughter, who was in excrutiating pain, and was assured they would take care of the issue that day. Once my daughter was seen, I was told in the consultation that they had a doctor "filling in" but that she do her best to see that the procedure was performed that day. We were told that it could be done, waited an hour and then were told that it could not be done that day and were told to call back the following day in case anyone canceled their appointment. My daughter got no sleep that night and we immediately called the following day and were told that she could be worked in...and then, the same thing happened. Richard then told me that we could call back on Monday. MONDAY???? It is Thursday!!! I already paid for this procedure, she is in unbelievable pain and I told him that there is no way that she could wait that long with this pain and that I would need to take her elsewhere. I told him I wanted a refund since I had already paid for the procedure and he responded "It doesnt work that way". I cannot begin to tell you how livid I am. He expects my daughter to wait until Monday and then proceeds to tell me that he isnt even sure he could get her in on Monday, that he would have to see what he could do then. Unbelievable! Nice way to treat your patients. I saw an inkling of the unprofessional behavior when a snide remark was made to an elderly patient by Richard while I was sitting in the waiting room and watched the patient takes his name and scold him for being so rude. If they cannot see a patient then they should not make an appointment only to be turned away and waste the precious time of someone who is in severe pain!!!! I dont even want to give this office one star. They get a big fat ZERO from me.

I scheduled an appointment for a check up and cleaning. I learned my wisdom teeth needed to be removed so I scheduled an appointment for the removal with the oral surgeon. RIGHT before my appointment I call to confirm and I was told the oral surgeon is no longer with their office. I guess they didnt think this was important information to tell me. After finding another oral surgeon and having my surgery, I made an appointment with Aspen to have my teeth cleaned WEEKS ago. Today I receive a voicemail saying they need to reschedule my appt because the dental hygienist isnt going to be there. So I call back, and after being on hold forever the lady says hold on let me see who called you... Then she comes back like 10 mins later and says Im not sure who called you... Im like what??? She said her name was jasmine. Shes like okay hold on.... So I hold again... She comes back 10 mins later and asks me "did you need to reschedule your appt?" Im like.. No.... You guys said I need to reschedule it.... She says oh okay hold on... Hold again... She comes back oh okay yes the dental hygienist wont be there.... Our next available appt is August 30th... Im sorry, what? I have to wait over a MONTH for a cleaning?!? Not only that, but I cant believe their unprofessionalism on the phone, it is really mind blowing. What kind of a dentist office are they running?! They cant even keep track of their patients or phone calls. So, so disappointed with my experience. Beware!!
