This Emergency Room is HORRIBLE. My daughter was brought there for an allergic reaction which was causing her throat to swell shut. They put her in a room in the ER for a sore throat, then after the nurse looked at her they decided to start an IV, which took 4 attempts. They dug around in the poor girls arm like there was nobody there that ever did this before. They then gave a round of medications and went to give them to her until I interrupted and asked what they were giving her and what they were for. They didnt keep us informed throughout the treatment process. After blood work results came back from the lab, we were told that they were preparing her discharge paperwork. At this point I flipped out, not only because they were looking to discharge her without telling us a diagnosis, treatment, or what the problem was, but also because they kept switching nurses on us. A total of five nurses treated her. Then the PA came in and just said, "Do you think it was a reaction to the antibiotic she is on"? I first said, who are you, another nurse, since she didnt introduce herself. And then I asked her, shouldnt we be asking that and you tell us what the problem was. So I basically diagnosed my daughter. The PA asked if there was a problem and I said there was, we keep getting new people in and out of the room, nobodys telling us anything, and now were being discharged and we dont know what the problem was. All of a sudden after complaining, a Doctor finally showed up. This was the first time I even saw a doctor in the ER (I was paying attention to the floor while we were waiting). He then examines her and tells us it is an allergic reaction and changes her medication. The nurses and the PA were rude, the Doctor couldnt understand why we were upset, and we felt we were treated like cattle just being thrown through the system. Excuse me, were paying you for this medical service. I will NEVER go back to this hospital...I will never recommend this hospital, and I would tell you to stay away from this hospital. The sad fact was they werent even busy, all the nurses were standing around talking to one another and playing on their phones.

It looked like I had a fracture, so my physician wrote a prescription for a basic x-ray. He encouraged me to go across the street to Health Central so it could be read stat. My insurance said no pre-authorization was required for an x-ray. Health Central looked at my prescription and refused to do the x-ray unless they received pre-authorization. The clerk refused to call the provider number and ask the insurance company. if pre-authorization was necessary. She said everything she needed was in a notebook she held up and waved around. Her supervisor refused to talk to me. My guess is that their book speaks of "imaging" and does not distinguish between a simple X-ray and MRI or other advanced radiology. An MRI requires pre-authorization, but not the simple X-ray on my prescription. I will try to find a different x-ray provider tomorrow when stand-alone imaging centers open. If I have a fracture, I am not going back to Health Central to get a cast. In addition to other problems, Health Centrals ER has a miserable waiting room. An ambulance crew unloaded a woman onto a circular couch in the ER lobby. She was writhing and moaning in pain. The hospital left her there the entire time I was on the phone with my insurance company. I am glad she wasnt throwing up or bleeding, but it is hard to get the memory of her agony out of my mind. My cell phone ran low on power while I was waiting. There were very few electric outlets in the waiting room. Most were directly below a television where the noise would make it hard for me to make a call. I found a hallway with no furniture where I sat on the floor by an outlet. Because of my injury I had my own agony siting down and getting up again. With the long waits, I am sure there are people who would appreciate a convenient way to recharge cell phones. .

Came in when I cut my hand on a broken glass. In addition to getting to sit there bleeding with nothing to stop it for what ended up being a four hour wait where there were only a few other people in the waiting room, they sent me home in a rush once they finally saw me. I informed them I felt kind of woozy after soaking the washcloth I brought with me and they simply shrugged and sent me on my way with no further examination or treatment. Several weeks later I get the statement in the mail to find that they hadnt properly billed my insurance and were trying to get me to pay cash price. It took multiple phone calls and escalating to a supervisor to correct, and she supposedly took my payment for the correct amount over the phone. NOPE. Because a few months later I began receiving calls from a collections agency. Ive never missed a payment on anything so I blocked them thinking it was a scam or that someone had given their creditor the wrong number to avoid collection calls. Then I got the letter. These people barely treated me, screwed up my insurance, and then didnt let me know when there was an error processing my payment so they let it fall to collections. A $42 bill just killed my good credit because these people cant keep their heads on straight. Avoid this hospital at all costs. Go to Dr. Phillips instead!!! Dr. Phillips has friendly and attentive staff, and their billing department can actually do their jobs!
