Short version: if your dog is young, youll pay a little more and the staff will be friendly enough. But when it comes down to it, this is not the vet that will give it to you straight and be honest with you. Long version: I really hoped this would be the vet that I could recommend to my friends but even with a long time to reflect it was not. Most of the staff was friendly, although some were not well versed in how to respond to customers (could be a bit condescending at times). The prices are slightly above average but I hoped I would get what I paid for. On the first visit my vet suggested Sentinel for fleas and heartworm. When my dog still had fleas she suggested I use it in conjunction with frontline, which I did for 6 months. But, this became very costly so I switch to heart guard and Frontline with the same results. When I told the vet I was no longer using Sentinel she remarked that she only knew of a few patients who were still using it. Which made me wonder why she suggested it in the first place if it cost 3x as much with no noticeable difference. Later in life my dog developed osteoarthritis and that was treated with low dose steroids and a slowly increasing dose of pain killers (no problem with this). As time went on my dog would wander aimlessly, her hearing and vision got very bad, she was losing her bowels regularly and her teeth were making it difficult for her to eat etc. The vet always wanted to run urine cultures and blood tests to determine the cause but never came back with results out of the ordinary. My dogs arthritis got to the point where the pain medications were not helping very much anymore and while it was very clear to all involved that my angel was on her way back home, the vet suggested cold laser therapy at cost of around $200 a month plus the continued cost of pain medication $70 a month on top of that she suggested an ultra sound to determine the cause of her bowel loss problem and a teeth cleaning while my dog was under sedation for the ultra sound. I told her this was not the route I wanted to take. On my next call she asked if I had considered the cold laser therapy more I told her again, that my mother had cancer at the time and financially we were not able. the next time I called she asked if I would like an informational pamphlet on the cold laser therapy, luckily my third time saying NO did the trick. My dog was nearing 14 years old and she was a Labrador. No one ever wants to hear that it may be more humane to let their angel finally rest but sometimes it is necessary for a vet to be willing to initiate that conversation. Instead she only gave options on how I could make her body last just a little longer (even though her mind was clearly gone) which made me feel so guilty even considering letting my dog go. It took my mother, father and brothers continual insistence that she was in pain for me to finally let her rest. I dont think the vet would have ever even talked about that option. All in all, if your dog is young, youll pay a little more and the staff will be friendly. But when it comes down to it, this is not the vet that will give it to you straight and be honest with you.

I only give two stars because I really like Dr. Wright, he is great with our dog and gives lots of useful advice. The staff used to be very nice, now not as much anymore. There are a few things I really dislike. First of all, we have been coming in for a while now, they know what medication our dog gets. Last time I came in, I I simply asked to refresh one of his vaccinations. Dr. Wright wasnt in that day, so we had to go to someone else. Since we traveled right before, we had a valid health certificate from only two weeks before from another vet with us stating that he is completely healthy. They refused to give him his one vaccination without another health checkup. Well, that checkup consisted of a 2 min examination of basic things like listening to his heart rate and looking inside his ears. We were charged over $40 for that!! (plus the cost for the vaccinations). I thought that was rude and overpriced considering the fact that another vet just did a thorough checkup right before, which was noted in his pet passport. We then asked to get a prescription for his heart worm medicine. They said they would give it to us but only if we do let them draw blood so they can check if he already has heart worms. We told them that we just arrived from Germany where there are no heart worms, but that we had done a test for heart worms over there anyway and we dont want to stress out the dog by drawing blood AGAIN. The vet told me to send in the results by email and then we would get our prescription. I did that. No reply. So I send another email a week later. Still no reaction. Several weeks have passed now. Im out of state now and now he is late on his medication because the staff there simply doesnt care enough to reply to an email :(. Now we will have to go to another vet and have them check him up AGAIN and draw blood AGAIN just because no one there feels obliged to answer to emails. THANKS! We will never return.

I felt very deceived by my experience there. I wish they cared a bit more about their patients. The front desk crew is wonderful and very nice and the facility is nice, but the vet and vet techs really just push for unnecessary treatments and testing to bump up the costs and to see how much they can make you pay. I had an appointment for my dog and on the day of the appointment the price estimate was increased by $300 from my original procedure estimate. Apparently the original procedure estimate did not include all the costs. (I dont know why they would even bother to give me an estimate). The vet apologized for not including the full price. She said it was her mistake to not include the full tumor removal prices, but that mistake only accounted for $150... so I was unclear as to where the other $150 being charged was coming from. I am a recent grad and I dont really make a lot of money, but I care a lot about my dogs health and making sure he stays healthy, so I wanted to know the pricing upfront to be able to save up enough money to get the procedures done. When I brought up the price increase, they worked down the cost to what it originally was by taking away costs that were not too "necessary", which was nice of them, but I really dont appreciate them acting as if they had done me a favor by bringing down the price. I would rather not do business with a place that attempts to cheat you of your money. I decided to take my dog elsewhere. I just returned from having a consultation done by another vet and they were more affordable and honest.

On Monday my dog had an emergency. The ER vet had just closed and the vet that I usually take him to was closed. I found Waterford Lakes Animal Hospital on the internet and they had just opened. I called them and explained the situation over the phone. The lady over the phone, I think her name is Laura, told me to come in and bring any of my dogs paperwork with me. When I met the vet, whose name is Blake, and the tech, Ash, I could tell that they understood my concern for my dog. I ended up leaving them with my dog for the day. When I returned, at the end of the day, Blake actually took the time to meet with me and tell me exactly what was going on with my dog. Not a tech or some person behind the counter but the actual vet. When I returned the next day, for a check up, Laura, the girl who I talked to on the phone the day before, actually remembered my dogs name and greeted him. I met with Blake again. The service he provided, as well as the rest of the staff, was beyond my expectations. My dog was actually happy to leave with them for his evaluation. I am glad to report my dog is feeling much better and appears to be back to his normal behavior.
