I WISH I DID NOT HAVE TO WRITE THIS BECAUSE I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT OF DR. MENA AS A VERY GOOD AND CARING PERSON HOWEVER HIS OFFICE STAFF NEEDS MUCH MORE TRAINING AND EXPERIANCE THEN I WOULD EVER BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN IN THE SPACE GIVEN HERE. MY MOTHER AND I HAVE BOTH BEEN SEEING DR. MENA FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW AND AT FIRST EVERTHING SEEM TO RUN SMOOTHLY, THAT IS UNTIL HIS OFFICE TOOK ON ADDITIONAL HELP AND NOW IT IS A TOTAL NIGHTMARE. WHEN WE NEED REFILLS ON OUR MEDICINES THEY TELL US THEY WILL FAX IT TO OUR SUPPLY POINTS ASAP, AFTER SEVERAL DAYS AND NO REFILLS WE CALL THE SUPPLY POINT AND ARE TOLD "WE NEVER GOT THE FAX" WE CALL DR. MENAS OFFICE AND ITS ALWAYS THE SAME ANSWER "WE FAXED IT" WE PLEADE WITH THEM TO FAX IT AGAIN AND ITS THE SAME OLD SONG AND DANCE ROUTINE "WE FAXED IT AND "WE NEVER GOT IT" AND ITS NOT THE SAME PLACES...ITS PUBLIX BRITTON PLAZA, PUBLIX GANDY, PUBLIX NEPTUNE, EXPRESS SCRIPTS TRICARE, EXPRESS SCRIPTS VERIZON. ON AND ON AND ON. THE OFFICE STAFF IS VERY SWEET AND POLITE TO OUR FACE BUT AFTER OUR BACKS ARE TURNED THEY SEEM TO FORGET DO TO ANYTHING REMOTELY CONNECTED TO THEIR JOBS. EVEN JUST TRYING TO CALL AND TALK TO SOMEONE IS A HOLY NIGHTMARE, THEIR LINE IS BUSY 24/7 IT SEEMS AND WE GET COMPLAINTS FROM OUR MEDICINE SUPPY POINTS THAT WE MUST TRY TO CONTACT DR. MENA AS THEY ARE UNABLE TO GET THRU. ITS ALMOST AS IF SOMEONE IN DR, MENAS OFFICE IS TRYING TO SABOTAGE HIS ENTIRE OPERATION. I COULD UNDERSTAND A MISCOMMUNICATION ONCE IN AWHILE BUT NOT EACH AND EVERY TIME. I THINK ITS GREAT THAT DR. MENA IS LOYAL TO HIS STAFF BUT HE NEEDS TO TAKE A GOOD HARD LOOK AT WHO IS DOING WHAT AND CLEAN HOUSE WHEN HE FINDS OUT WHO AND HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE CAUSING HIM PROPLEMS AND YES HE SURLEY HAS AN IDEA BY NOW WHO HIS PROBLEM PEOPLE ARE AND YES I THINK IT IS MORE THEN ONE PERSON TO CREATE THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITHIN ONE OFFICE. YOU WOULD THINK THAT HIS OFFICE MANAGER WOULD HAVE UNCOVERED A TROUBLE MAKER BY NOW UNLESS SHE IS PART OF THE PROBLEM HERSELF. I DONT KNOW DO I EVEN CARE ANYMORE WHO HIS PROBLEM CHILDREN ARE BECAUSE I AM LOOKING TO MAKE SOME CHANGES MYSELF. RES. d I JUST TALKED TO THE PERSON WHO IS SUPPOSED TO TAKE CARE OF FAXING OUT REQUEST FOR REFILLS AND SHE IN FACT SAYS THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF DISTANT ENDS NOT RECEIVING THEIR FAXS BUT STOPPED SHORT OF SAYING HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN GOING ON OR IF THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN FIXED OR IT ANYONE WAS EVEN LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM HOWEVER SHE DID SAY THAT WALGREENS IS YET ANOTHER LOCATIN THAT HAS NOT BEEN RECEVING THEIR FAXS. I WOULD THINK ANYPLACE IN SUCH AN IMPORTANT POSITION SUCH AS A DOCTORS OFFICE WOULD HAVE RAISED A RED FLAG THE FIRST TIME THEY WERE AWARE OF A PROBLEM AND DONE WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO GET THE PROBLEM CORRECTED. tHIS IS SO WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS.

At a first glance as a New Patient with Dr. Mena, I thought he was going to be a good doctor for me to stay with a my primary care. On my first and only visit, he seemed very professional and detail oriented. He ordered Lab work for me to have done and an untra sound for my thyroid. 48 Hours later the Lab results came back and I was able to view them on line based on the software Dr. Mena uses. Thankfully everything came back looking pretty good and thyroid was negative on issues. However, my cholesterol came back Extremely High and so naturally I called his office to chat with him. I was very rudely informed that Dr. Mena "doesnt do phone calls"! I said well if I have to come back in for a visit I will but can you have the Dr. call me so we can discuss it please. I never received a call back that day. I followed up with a second call the next day. I spoke with the same rude front desk guy and he said he gave Dr. Mena my message. This was a friday and I explained that Id really like to speak with Dr. Mena but he wanted to he could call me in a prescription for the high cholestoroal before I came back in but Id like to hear from him before the weekend starts. No call back again. Third time, I emailed the Dr. from their Lab Results email they had sent me 3 days earlier asking if the Dr. could call in a prescription for me and contact me on Monday after the weekend. Again today passed and no reply for the Dr. or his office staff. I feel like this guy just accepted the money from my Healthcare provider and my co-pay and he is no longer worth any more of my time or investment. Check out other Primary Care Physicians before trying this one out! He has a poor "beside manner" and does not have the patients best interest in mind.

As a family practitioner myself Im understandably protective of where/how my parents obtain their medical care. My 80+ year old Mom has been seeing Dr. Mena for several years. She is very satisfied with his medical guidance as is our family, we have greatly appreciated Dr. Mena and his office staff, at all times they have been professional and kind. Im impressed with how well the office is organized, being able to retrieve lab results and make appointments on line is a time savings, on the occasions where we have needed medical advise our calls have always been quickly returned. I feel comfortable recommending Dr. Mena.

Yes, one does have to wait in room for a good while at times to see doc. One has to wait for an appointment to even be scheduled. One does NOT get rushed out of office by the doc or staff when one is seen. In other words, Doctor Mena takes the same amount of time for all patients. Some folks may need longer than others for whatever reason. Some folks could be dying of freaking cancer and need extra time! If you expect a cookie-cutter situation, go to a big-name-clinic-chain.

I have never had to wait more than a few minutes for an appointment. Here is a Dr. that will still make a house call (although I have never needed one) and who actually looks at you and listens to you instead of being stuck to a computer making notes. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. Hes one of the good guys.

Been calling the office for 3 days to make an appointment. They havent called back and I have left 3 messages. Absolute trash service. I dont care how good the doctor is, if the response is trash then the whole thing stinks. Im going to have to go to an ER now and spend hundreds more dollars because of this.

Dr Mena is the best...You wont find another Dr who sits and spends time with you not like other Drs.I was a pt at a local hosp and even the nurses had high praise saying he is abt only dr who cares abt his Pts...If your looking for new Dr he is the one you should try to get as your Dr.. tom long
